Notre Dame senior LB Te'Von Coney accepted an invitation to the Reese's Senior Bowl.
Coney has seen his stock rise significantly in 2018, as he and players like Jerry Tillery and Drue Tranquill were pillars for the undefeated Fighting Irish during the 2018 season. Analysts note his eye for the football, but he's a quality athlete who also has excellent instincts. Coney was dominant in this one against Navy's run-heavy offense. He recorded five defensive stops on 45 total run defense snaps. Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline lists Notre Dame senior LB Te'Von Cooney as a player whose draft stock rose for his performance on Saturday against Notre Dame.

The star of the game was Jerry Tillery, but Coney (6'1/240) had a strong game as well with seven tackles, a pass breakup and an interception. "Coney has checked all the boxes so far this season, displaying a good amount of athleticism which complements his outstanding instincts,Pauline writes. "Entering the season with grades which ranged from the mid-fourth round to as low as a street free agent, Coney is working his way into the second day of the draft."

Notre Dame senior LB Te'Von Coney was sentenced to a year of probation for his 2016 arrest on a marijuana possession charge.

Coney (6'1/240) was arrested on suspicion of marijuana possession along with three other former Notre Dame players in August of 2016 after the quartet was pulled over during a traffic stop. While none of the other players (Kevin Stepherson, Max Redfield, Ashton Young) in question remain on the team, Coney's made it through the fire and looks like he'll be ready to rock and/or roll this coming season now that his legal troubles have been concluded. He was a standout performer for the Irish last year, recording 116 tackles (13.0 for loss). Coney kicked around a potential NFL Draft declaration this past winter before ultimately deciding to give it one more go in South Bend.

Notre Dame junior LB Te'Von Coney will return for his senior season and forego entry into the NFL Draft.

Well, finally some good news for the Irish. Coney was one of the most improved players on one of the most improved defenses in 2017. He requested feedback from the NFL Draft evaluators, and must not have been satisfied with the answer he got back. While Notre Dame lost a great deal on offense, the defense is mostly intact, and that should at least make them competitive in 2018.

Notre Dame junior LB Te'Von Coney is weighing his options and considering entering the 2018 NFL Draft.

Coney was one of the true bright spots of the Notre Dame defense in 2017, making 13 tackles for loss and finishing with 99 tackles overall. He's requested feedback to see where he stands in the class, and if he earns a high enough grade, there's a strong chance the 6-foot-1, 240-pound linebacker will enter the draft before the January 15 deadline.
