Texas redshirt senior T Calvin Anderson accepted an invitation to the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.
Anderson (6'5/300) spent the first four years of his collegiate career at Rice, and was among the most high-profile recruited transfers despite playing for a program that hasn't exactly rivaled Alabama. He was a starter all year for the Longhorns, and helped lead Texas to a Sugar Bowl victory over Georgia and a 10-4 season. He currently profiles as a Day 3 pick, but his pedigree could help him improve that stock if he plays well in events like this. Jan 11 - 4:23 PM

Texas HC Tom Herman named redshirt senior T Calvin Anderson the first-team left tackle to begin the year.

Anderson (6'5/300) was working with the second-team as recently as last week, but it appears that he's grasping the offense quickly after missing spring ball due to his transfer from Rice. Denzel Okafor is the backup, and could battle Anderson if the senior struggles. It's very likely that Anderson takes a stronghold of the job, however, and Okafor likely becomes the starter in 2019.

Anderson (6'5/300) transferred over to Texas from Rice as a graduate earlier this offseason. He's still getting caught up with his new team having not gone through spring practices in Austin, but that acclimation does not appear like it's causing any particular issue. That he's already in with the second team is a fantastic sign for his progression. Anderson started 36 straight games at Rice before his transfer and we'd expect him to begin to receive first-team work in camp in the near future.
