Ohio State HC Urban Meyer said that redshirt sophomore LB Tuf Borland (Achilles) should be able to return in September.
Borland (6'1/229) saw his spring practice work come to an early close after he sustained an Achilles injury in mid-March. Prior to his sidelining, he had been working with the first-team defense at middle linebacker. He came on to register 58 tackles (3.5 for loss) and a sack during the 2017 campaign, taking over starting duties for the Buckeyes midway through the season. Justin Hilliard and Baron Browning have both seen closer looks this spring with Borland out of action. While Meyer sees the redshirt sophomore returning to help the cause this coming September, we expect a more specific timetable will come to light once we hit the summer and it becomes more clear just how far along Borland is in his recovery. Ohio State redshirt sophomore LB Tuf Borland will miss the remainder of spring practice with an Achilles injury.

Borland (6'1/229) had been working as first-team middle linebacker this spring, but was waylaid for the remainder when he injured his Achilles last week. The redshirt sophomore logged 58 tackles (3.5 for loss) and a sack in 2017, taking over starting duties midway through the campaign. With Borland now mending up, Justin Hilliard will receive a closer look moving forward. Ditto Baron Browning. Buckeyes HC Urban Meyer said that this Achilles injury is not expected to endanger Borland's availability for the upcoming season, though we'll have a more clear picture as to his progress come the summer.
