Oklahoma received a verbal commitment from four-star 2019 S Jamal Morris.
Of the three prospects who pledged themselves to the Sooners' cause on Friday, Morris was the lone defender. The other two (Theo Wease and Arjei Henderson) are both five-star wide receivers. Rivals analyst Nick Krueger foreshadowed this potential pledge earlier this week, as he noted that things had begun to move in Oklahoma's favor in advance of Morris' visit to Norman for this weekend's spring game. The outlet ranks the Houston native as the No. 210 overall prospect in the 2019 class. He's got a swagger and physicality that we absolutely dig, even if he's not quite The Flash in terms of his top-end speed. With these three lovely commitments now in the fold, Oklahoma has moved up to the No. 2 class for the 2019 cycle on Rivals. Apr 13 - 4:58 PM

Uncommitted four-star 2019 S Jamal Morris is scheduled to take an official visit to Texas on May 4.

Morris (6'2/177) will be taking advantage of the new early window for official visits with this upcoming trip to Austin. Oklahoma is also a prime contender for his pledge, with Rivals' Nick Krueger forwarding that there's some momentum toward such a pledge -- to whit, Morris plans on attending OU's spring game this coming weekend. While he's not an out-and-out burner and has some issues moving laterally, the Houston native is a confident, physical safety prospect. Rivals ranks him as the No. 210 overall prospect in the 2019 cycle.
