ESPN's Steve Wuench lists Western Illinois DT Khalen Saunders as a prospect who can improve his draft stock at the Reese's Senior Bowl.
Saunders (6'2/310) is considered one of the top defensive lineman in the FCS, and has been since his sophomore season. "Saunders is built like a fire hydrant, and he's tough to neutralize with one blocker when teams run inside," Wuench writes. He flashes as a pass-rusher, and Western Illinois' willingness to line him up at defensive end on downs with pass-heavy tendencies is a testament to his athletic ability." Right now, Saunders is a Day 3 pick, but a strong showing in Mobile could put him in that top 100 area. Jan 21 - 3:23 PM

Western Illinois senior DT Khalen Saunders accepted an invitation to the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.

Saunders (6'2/310) is also going to play in the Senior Bowl, so the former Leathernecks' DL will get a chance to get plenty of looks from scouts at the two events. He's considered one of the top small-school defensive lineman in the class, and quality showings at events like this and the one in Mobile will do wonders for his draft stock. We're excited to see how he does.

Western Illinois senior DT Khalen Saunders accepted an invitation to play in the Reese's Senior Bowl.

Saunders (6'2/310) has been on the radar for a while, as he's been among the most productive defensive lineman in the FCS. Scouting reports have noted that he's a terrific athlete, and he has a knack for making plays in the opponent's backfield. Getting a chance to do it against upper-echelon talent will be back for Saunders, and he'll get to do just that now that he's in the Senior Bowl.

NFL Draft Scout's Ric Serritella lists Western Illinois redshirt senior DT Khalen Saunders as his small school prospect to watch after Week 9.

Saunders is not an unknown commodity, but it's easy to forget about defensive lineman playing in the FCS. The 6-foot-2, 310-pound defensive tackle has backed up his strong junior year with a quality senior campaign with 11.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks for the Leathernecks. Serritella notes that Saunders has "tremendous" athleticism, and he can be downright disruptive in the backfield; so much so that he calls him an FCS Aaron Donald. He's going to have to perform well at whatever senior event he participates in, but it sounds like he'll be one of the more intriguing "small school" prospects to watch for come draft season.
Mon, Oct 29, 2018 07:11:00 PM's Chad Reuter ranked Western Illinois redshirt senior DT Khalen Saunders as player No. 150 to watch for the upcoming season.

Saunders (6'2/310) just snuck onto Reuter's board, landing as the final young man on the analyst's list. He's a key cog for the Leathernecks and a name to monitor for draft purposes as the 2019 class begins to take shape this autumn. This past season, Saunders put in 57 tackles, 7.5 sacks and a trio of forced fumbles.
