USC senior S Marvell Tell accepted an invitation to the Reese's Senior Bowl.
Tell (6'2/195) has fans in the evaluating community, but there's some amount of mixed opinion on the Trojans safety. Back in September, for instance, Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline threw water on the view of Tell as a potential first-round pick, writing that there was "nothing special" in Tell's game that would warrant a top-32 selection. Just how low is Pauline on Tell? Draft Analyst currently grades him out as a sixth-round prospect. Based on our general sense of matters, that evaluation might be a tad conservative, but even so, a strong predraft process is going to be a must. Nov 29 - 7:32 PM

USC senior S Marvell Tell (undisclosed) is not in uniform for Saturday's game against Notre Dame.

Tell's absence will have a noticeable impact on the USC secondary, as the team was already light from a numbers standpoint at the safety position. And that's not a good position to be in when considering the fact that the Trojans are facing one of the best teams in college football. Tell missed time earlier in the season due to a neck stinger.

USC HC Clay Helton said after Saturday's loss to Arizona State that senior S Marvell Tell did not play due to a neck stinger.

Not having Tell available hurt USC's depth at safety, and the situation got even worse as freshman Talanoa Hufanga suffered a broken collarbone on the game's final play. Without Tell the Trojans have just one scholarship safety, so they'll need him to get back to full strength in short order. USC returns to action November 3 at Oregon State.

Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline believes that Saturday's contest against Stanford is a big test for USC senior S Marvell Tell.

Pauline isn't as high on Tell as some, and wrote in his previous reports that he doesn't see anything about his game that suggests he's a first-round pick. He does say, however, that many have Tell (6'2/195) as the top senior safety in the class, and Saturday will be a tremendous test for him. " Tell is methodical and efficient and, while he doesn’t have a lot of flash in his game, he gets the job done," he writes. This should be a must-watch game.

Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline writes of USC senior S Marvell Tell, "[T]here’s just nothing special about [his] game that would warrant top-32 consideration."

While Pauline thinks that Day 1 or even Day 2 talk is too rich for Tell, he's not a complete Debbie Downer on the safety's game, writing that the 6-foot-2, 195-pounder "takes proper angles and shows the ability to explode to the ball from his plant." He also refers to him as an "explosive run defender." Tell picked off a career-best three passes last season. He'll be working as part of the last line of defense against Stanford home run threats Bryce Love and J.J. Arcega-Whiteside on Saturday.

NFL Media senior analyst Gil Brandt believes that USC senior S Marvell Tell is worth a top-50 selection in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Brandt took to Twitter to tick off a total of 23 players who he thought deserved to be swept off next spring's board by the end of Round 2. Tell (6'2/195) was the only safety prospect on his list. He's made 29 starts in his career, including working as a full-time starter each of the past two seasons. More of the same to come this year. For the past campaign, Tell registered 85 tackles while intercepting three passes.
