NC State redshirt senior LB Germaine Pratt won't play in the Gator Bowl.
Pratt (6'3/240) has already signed with an agent, meaning that he couldn't play in the bowl against Texas A&M even if he had a last-minute change of heart. A consensus first-team All-ACC performer this season, the redshirt senior officially ends his 2018 campaign with a career-best 104 tackles (10.0 for loss), six sacks and a pair of forced fumbles. In addition to signing with an agent, Pratt earlier accepted an invitation to the Senior Bowl as he looks to get his draft process revved up. Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline writes that the NC State standout "must improve his play against the pass, (but) has the makings of a starting 3-4 inside linebacker." Pauline sees him as in play for an early Day 3 selection come the spring. Dec 5 - 1:48 PM

NC State redshirt senior LB Germaine Pratt accepted an invitation to the Reese's Senior Bowl.

Pratt (6'3/240) was a terrific performer this year for the Wolfpack, and was actually named the Senior Bowl defensive Player of the Week after his performance against Boston College in October. He is noted for his nose for the football and toughness, but also his ability to make plays with "makeup" speed. He missed 2016 with a shoulder injury, but if he checks out okay, he'll be one of the first inside linebackers taken in April.

NC State redshirt senior LB Germaine Pratt was named the Reese's Senior Bowl Defensive Player of the Week for his performance on Saturday against Boston College.

As Senior Bowl executive director Jim Nagy points out, Pratt (6'3/240) was everywhere on the field on Saturday in the win; making 13 tackles with a sack in the victory over the Eagles. Nagy notes Pratt has the versatility to play the run and get to the quarterback, and there were plays where he showed both "short closing burst and long makeup speed." Pratt missed the 2016 season with a shoulder injury, but assuming the medicals check out, the senior linebacker has an NFL future, as Nagy calls him a potential "next level starter."
