Wyoming DT Youhanna Ghaifan was among the 135 early-entrant names officially released by the NFL on Friday.
The Athletic's Dane Brugler referred to Ghaifan as the lone "surprise name" on the NFL's official list. The 6-foot-4, 282-pounder's collegiate career came to an unfortunate close after he was arrested in October and charged with misdemeanor false imprisonment and harassment. In a plea deal, he copped to the harassment charge, with the false imprisonment one dropped. So long as he adheres to the agreed upon parameters of the plea deal, he will no longer be facing any charges after July 5. Obviously, this case will be one which is combed over by interested NFL parties, but on a pure talent level, Ghaifan intrigues. He was a first-team All-Mountain West performer during the 2017 season, recording 69 tackles (15.5 for loss), seven sacks and a pair of fumbles forced across 12 games played. Brugler notes that Ghaifan possesses "impressive lateral quickness, flexibility and pursuit." Jan 18 - 1:24 PM

Wyoming redshirt junior DT Youhanna Ghaifan pled no-contest in charges stemming from an arrest in October.

Ghaifan was suspended indefinitely after he was charged with two misdemeanors: false imprisonment (Class 2) and harassment (Class 3). Those charges come about after authorities responded to a call about a disturbance at a Marriott hotel in Fort Collins, around 10:00 AM on Friday. Ghaifani was allegedly involved in an incident involving another guest at the hotel. The plea includes six months of a deferred sentence, and he's also to complete 16 hours of community service as well as a boundaries class within the next five months. His status for the 2019 season has yet to be determined.

With Wyoming striking quick on the suspension front, Ghaifan will not be able to play in Friday's game against Colorado State. It's a notable loss for the Cowboys, as he's one of their defensive leaders, having recorded 33 tackles (7.0 for loss) with one sack, four passes defended and a fumble forced in eight games.
