Akron running back Alex Allen has had some decent performances this year with one of the better ones being his two touchdown, 126 yard rushing night against Miami.

Allen has the capabilities of being a top MAC back but is just on the wrong team.

Akron, as a team, faired poorly against Northern Illinois, but that did not stop Alex Allen from having a big day as the senior running back ran the ball 14 times for 99 yards and both of his team's scores.

Allen is a talented back who will continue to struggle until he gets some help from the rest of the offense.

Although Akron lost to FCS opponent Gardner -Webb, they did have two 100-yard rushers.  Alex Allen ran the ball 20 times for 110 yards and three touchdowns while Nate Burney had 17 carries for 119 yards.

If Allen keeps up his touchdown scoring ways, he could be a nice option in deeper leagues.

Akron running back Alex Allen has been granted a sixth year of eligibility.  Allen sat out the 2006 season with a knee injury and missed most of 2008 with a hip injury.

After rushing for seven touchdowns in 2007, many thought Allen was on the way to becoming a solid perfomer.  But injuries have limited Allen's potential.

After suffering a season ending hip injury last year, running back Alex Allen is back on the practice field for Akron.  

If Allen's hip is 100% he could be a surprise 1000-yard back in 2009.   He's worth a late round flier pick.

Alex Allen is looking to replace Dennis Kennedy and emerge as the Zips' starting tailback in 2009.

Allen showed flashes last season, rushing for 103 yards and two scores in week two against Syracuse before a week three hip injury ended his season. He'll have to fend off Louisville transfer Dale Martin for the starting job.

Akron running back Alex Allen is out for the year with a hip injury suffered against Ball State in week three.

Allen had a nice start to the 2008 season before going down. Look for Dennis Kennedy to carry the load the rest of the way for the Zips.
