Syracuse running back Delone Carter has proclaimed himself "100 percent and ready to go" for Saturday's game against Cincinnati. Carter was finished in the second quarter of last week's victory over West Virginia after suffering a thigh bruise.
Good news on Carter's health as he made a big impact in the first half of the Orange's upset victory. He'll continue to share the backfield load with Antwon Bailey. Thu, Oct 28, 2010 01:45:00 PM

Delone Carter is listed ahead of Antwon Bailey on Syracuse's running back depth chart for Saturday's game against Akron.

Carter is apparently back in coach Marrone's good graces after he was suspended for Snowball-Gate way back in the spring. He'll probably share carries with Bailey in the early games, but he is in solid position to earn the lion's share of the carries as the season progresses.

Syracuse running back Delone Carter has been reinstated.

It seemed to be only a matter of time before Carter was back with the team.  Carter is a 1000-yard rusher and decent RB2/3 in BCS-only leagues.

Syracuse assistant head coach Bob Casullo told ESPN Radio in Syracuse that there is a plan in place for running back Delone Carter (assault charges) to return to the team.  "Trust me, Coach [Doug] Marrone and the administration have come up with a plan for Delone, and in my heart I believe it's going to work out for the best for him and for this football team," Casullo said.  "We'll welcome him back with open arms. ... Once he serves his penance, I'm sure he'll be back."

We noted in last night's podcast that Carter was due back in court on Aug. 2, which is Monday.  Right now, he's not allowed back with the team until after the summer semester is over.  But stay tuned on this one, we may have some movement next week depending on the result of Monday's hearing.

The criminal assault case against Syracuse running back Delone Carter remained unresolved after the two sides failed to reach a resolution in court Wednesday. The judge adjourned the case to Aug. 2.

Carter has been suspended from attending classes and playing football and must reapply to both prior to the fall semester. Long delays do not bode well for Carter, who did not appear on the post-spring depth chart and will likely be forced to earn his way back into the starting lineup -- if he's even allowed back on the team. Steer clear until further notice.

Junior running back Delone Carter and sophomore linebacker E.J. Carter were not included in Syracuse's post-spring depth chart released Thursday. Delone's absence is not a surprise after he was suspended for punching another student in March, but E.J. was considered a rising star with a bright future.

The attrition continues for the Orange, who have now lost 29 scholarship athletes since Marrone took over. Delone should be reinstated to the team in the fall, but E.J. appears to be gone for good. Marrone supporters argue that he's building a disciplined program and is shedding those who don't want to participate, but even they have to be wondering when the player exodus will end.

Syracuse running back Delone Carter will remain suspended from campus through both spring and summer semesters but will be allowed to return this fall.  Carter was charged with misdemeanor assault and is awaiting trial on June 2.

Carter will have to somehow keep in good academic standing to rejoin the football team this fall.  It is not exactly clear how he plans on doing this, but reports are that he expects to be back.

Syracuse running back, Delone Carter, has been suspended due to a connection with misdemeanor assault charge stemming from an on-campus altercation.

This is bad news for the Orange as Carter was their only proven playmaker.

Syracuse tailback Delone Carter was charged with assaulting another student during an on-campus disturbance that happened in February.

No word on if Carter will be dealt any suspensions but this does not bode well for the only star on an otherwise dismal Syracuse team.

Syracuse running back Delone Carter accounted for half of Syracuse's total offense, running 17 times for 143 yards in a loss to Pittsburgh.

Carter's two best yardage days of the year both came with Mike Williams not part of the offense.  Now that Williams is gone for good, the offensive philosophy shifts to Carter.

New Syracuse coach Doug Marrone has placed running back Delone Carter atop the running back depth chart.

Carter's season all but ended with a hamstring injury in the September loss to Penn State, and fellow returner Antwon Bailey ran well filling in for Curtis Brinkley. The fact that Carter is deemed the starter to kick off spring ball is a bit of a surprise, and we think the Syracuse offense is still looking at a split carry situation at tailback.
