Andrew Svoboda has cracked the top 20 twice in five starts to kick off his 2014-15 PGA TOUR campaign.
Considering he's missed the cut in his other three starts, Svoboda has been a bit of a feast-or-famine player to begin the new season. He tied for eighth in The McGladrey Classic, where he was a co-leader through 54 holes before suffering a final-round 71. He's never won on the PGA TOUR, and while he isn't at the top of the list of players waiting in line for a breakthrough win in 2014-15, he is at least in the conversation. Nov 28 - 8:24 PM

Overnight co-leader Andrew Svoboda signed for a 1-over-par 33-38=71 after his final round of The McGladrey Classic and posted 11-under 269, three strokes too high to join the playoff.

For the fourth time this week, Svoboda played holes 1-9 bogey-free. Today's experience featured birdies at Nos. 4 and 6. However, he failed to record another birdie and squared three bogeys coming in. That's especially disappointing since he hit 16 greens in regulation, failed to scramble on the other two and added a three-putt from 44-and-a-half feet at the par-4 11th. If there's a bright side, Svoboda will leave the Golden Isles with his third top 10 in 49 PGA TOUR starts.
Oct 26 - 5:18 PM

Andrew Svoboda turned in his third 4-under-par 66 at The McGladrey Classic to establish a share of the 54-hole lead at 12-under 198.

While he started on the 10th hole in the second round, he's scored bogey-free, 3-under 32 on holes 1-9 every day. Today's stroll around Seaside included six birdies, four of which from outside 20 feet! He opened with his longest from 31'7" at the par-4 first hole. Svoboda's only blemish occurred at the par-4 11th where he didn't find the putting surface until his fourth stroke and eventually penciled in a 6. Given his position on the leaderboard and today's clinic, he leads the fields in strokes gained: putting at 9.046.
Oct 25 - 5:04 PM

Andrew Svoboda enjoyed his 4-under-par 66 in the opening round of The McGladrey Classic so much that he carded another in today's second round to post 8-under 132, one stroke off the 36-hole lead.

Svoboda turned in respective nines of 34 and 32 today, exchanging six birdies with two bogeys. Three of his birdies were notable, measuring 17'2", 36'10" and 29'7" at Nos. 2, 3 and 6, respectively. He three-putted the par-4 16th from just outside 70 feet for his first bogey. At last check, he ranked third in the field in strokes gained: putting at an aggregate 5.288. Oct 24 - 6:00 PM

With a 4-under-par 32-34=66 in his opening round of The McGladrey Classic, Andrew Svoboda is one stroke in arrears of the clubhouse leaders.

Svoboda faded to finish T18 with a closing 73 in Las Vegas this week, but he's already turned the page. He opened with seven pars, including a 12-and-a-half-footer at the par-4 first. He then buried a birdie look from 22 feet at No. 8. After striping his drive at the par-4 ninth, he jarred his approach from 172 yards for eagle. Feeding off this run, Svoboda piled on with another birdie at 10, this time from 15'11". Overall, he split 11 (of 14) fairways, hit 14 greens and suffered just one bogey.
Oct 23 - 2:45 PM

Andrew Svoboda put together a 4-under-par 34-33=67 in the third round of the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open and is tied for third with Jimmy Walker at 13-under 200.

The fireworks were plentiful and included six birdies and one eagle, along with four bogeys at TPC Summerlin. Two of his red figures were of note, beginning with a 24'3" birdie at the par-4 fourth and including an eagle from 13'7" on the par-5 13th. Svoboda is one of three non-winners inside the top four, and he hopes to change that with a hot final round on Sunday. His 12 GIR and strokes gained: putting clip of -.725 were both low points of the week. He must correct that in the finale.
Oct 18 - 8:11 PM

Andrew Svoboda followed his opening 66 at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open with a 4-under-par 35-32=67 to post 9-under 133, good for very early possession of the 36-hole clubhouse lead.

The set included three from outside 11 feet, the longest dropping from 17'2" at the par-4 sixth hole. He also squared two bogeys, but was fortunate to escape with a 5 at the par-4 11th when he holed his try from eight yards away just off the green. Svoboda's 36-hole aggregate won't hold for the overnight lead, but he's in terrific position for make his latest run at his first PGA TOUR victory.
Oct 17 - 2:30 PM

Andrew Svoboda signed for a 5-under-par 34-32=66 following his opening round of the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.

Svoboda missed the cut at Silverado by two strokes last week, and he opened today loop around TPC Summerlin in birdie-free 1-over with a bogey-5 at the second hole. Undettered, the 35-year-old evened his card with a birdie at the par-4 sixth and added another at the par-5 ninth. He made the biggest dent in the middle of his inward side, circling four consecutive birdies beginning at the par-5 13th. All 18 of his conversions were within 10 feet. He signed his card sitting two strokes off the clubhouse lead and ranked fourth in strokes gained: tee-to-green at 3.490.
Oct 16 - 7:22 PM

Andrew Svoboda shared the spoils of 15th place at last year's Shriners Hospitals for Children Open and returns for another shot at TPC Summerlin.

Svoboda didn't make the weekend in his 2014-15 season debut, but is getting right back on the horse. Consistency wasn't his strong suit last year, posting a 14-for-24 record, but he did showcase his potential with a runner-up finish at the Zurich Classic with three additional top 20s to his name, as well. A common theme in his top performances was the ease of the course, which is a good sign for gamers ready to take a chance this week.

Andrew Svoboda turns his attention to TPC Boston for his debut at this week's Deutsche Bank Championship.

Svoboda has flashed some late-season form, with top 25s in three of his last nine. The upside potential has been shown on numerous occasions, but he remains inconsistent on a weekly basis. Entering the week at 94th in the FedExCup standings, he will need a top-heavy finish to advance to the BMW Championship at Cherry Hills.

Aug 28 - 8:27 AM

Andrew Svoboda ripped off a 6-under-par 33-31=64 in his second round of the Wyndham Championship to post 9-under 131, one stroke back of the overnight co-leaders.

He had a par attempt from just inside seven feet at the par-4 18th, but two-putted for bogey. However, it was his only gaffe of the round during which he split 13 (of 14) fairways and hit 13 greens in regulation. Svoboda rattled in seven birdies, including rolls from 26 feet, 22'5" and 15'9" at the third, 11th and 13th holes, respectively. In addition to his position at the midpoint, a consolation for today's effort is that he matched his career low on the PGA TOUR first achieved in the opening round of the Zurich Classic in late April.
Aug 15 - 6:15 PM

Andrew Svoboda has been removed from the published field of this week's Barracuda Championship.

He sat just three strokes off the 36-hole lead at the RBC Canadian Open, but turned in a pair of 2-over-par 72s on the weekend to finish T43. However, the 34-year-old is poised for his first appearance in the FedExCup Playoffs. He's currently 79th in points on the strength of a T2 in New Orleans and T6 in Memphis.

Andrew Svoboda arrived at the midpoint of the RBC Canadian Open in 7-under-par 67-66=133, three shots off the 36-hole clubhouse lead.

He's proven to be a nice fantasy find this season. Svoboda wrapped up a berth in the FedExCup Playoffs and his 2014-15 card weeks ago, but he hasn't relented since a T2 in New Orleans. He's added a pair of top 20s and stands to pad that record in Montreal. Thus far, he's converted 11 birdies, four of which from outside 13 feet, the longest from 28 feet at the par-3 fifth hole on Thursday. Today's set featured a 22-footer at 14. But perhaps more valuable are the par saves that maintain momentum in the second round. After attempting to make a mess of the par-4 18th, he holed out from the rough 11 yards away for the 4. Later, after finding trouble off the tee at the par-5 sixth, he'd eventual pour in his par from 13'8".
Jul 25 - 6:19 PM

Andrew Svoboda will compete in his second RBC Canadian Open later this week.

He tied for 49th in this event last season at Glen Abbey GC, but will face Royal Montreal GC this time around. Svoboda was hot earlier in the season, sharing second at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans and tying for sixth at the FedEx St. Jude Classic. His recent form has been a bit chilly, finally missing a cut at the John Deere Classic in his last start after cashing in his previous five.

Jul 23 - 12:41 PM

Andrew Svoboda went out early in the final round of the Travelers Championship and fired a 4-under 36-30=66 to finish the week at 1-over 281.

Playing in a solo tee time, the two-time Web.com Tour winner had a ho-hum round going through 12 holes. From here, he fired up the birdie train that lasted for five holes. He gave away too many strokes on Friday and Saturday to be in contention, but this was his seventh cut made over his last nine tournaments. With 39 PGA TOUR starts now under his belt, Svoboda is getting the hang of things, and is someone for gamers to watch closely moving forward.
