After finishing tied 46th in his 2014 Quicken Loans National debut, Andrew Svoboda returns for this week's playing at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club and enters the tournament a distant 161st in the FedExCup standings.
Svoboda notched his first two career TOUR top 10s in 2013-14 en route to finishing 94th in the FedExCup standings, advancing to the second round of the FEC Playoffs prior to being eliminated. His 2014-15 campaign is languishing in no man's land adding just one top 10 (T8, McGladrey Classic) on 27 starts, missing 17 cuts, including 10 in a row at one point. Between the Northern Trust Open in mid-February and The Greenbrier Classic earlier this month, Svoboda finished over par in 16 consecutive starts, a cumulative 82-over-par during that span. The 35-year-old ranks 179th on TOUR in scoring average at 71.919. He has managed to cash in his last two starts, finishing T48 at the Barbasol Championship and T58 at last week's RBC Canadian Open. Andrew Svoboda submitted a 5-under-par 33-32=65 for his opening round of The Greenbrier Classic.

And he opened with a bogey-5 at the 10th hole. It would be his only blemish. Svoboda rallied for four birdies before making the turn, a spurt capped by a conversion from 25'6" at the par-3 18th hole. He added two birdies coming in, including a walk-off 3 from 28'2" at No. 9. He totaled 14 greens in regulation. This is his lowest aggregate since a second-round 64 at the 2014 Wyndham Championship. The 35-year-old arrived in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, slotted 154th in the FedExCup standings, but he's only one shot off the early clubhouse lead today.
Jul 2 - 1:07 PM

Andrew Svoboda heads back to the Northeast for this week's Travelers Championship.

The St. Johns University alum welcomes the chance to tee it up just 100 miles from where he attended school. Svoboda enters the week on the heels of 14 consecutive finishes outside the top 50, failing to play the weekend in 11 of them. After finishing 94th in the FedExCup standings in 2013-14, he currently sits in just 151st, in need of a big splash sooner rather than later.
Jun 22 - 10:48 PM

Andrew Svoboda turns his attention to this week's Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial.

To say that Svoboda is in the midst of a slump is an understatement. In fact, the 35-year-old has not cashed a paycheck in eight consecutive starts and the last time he did, he finished dead last (76th, Puerto Rico Open). Overall, he's 7-for-18 on the season and ranks 143rd in FedExCup points. Svoboda missed the cut (by six) in his CPI debut last year.
May 19 - 7:59 PM

Andrew Svoboda looks to end his five-tournament slump as he readies for this week's Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

Svoboda has finished outside the top 50 in 11 of his 15 starts this season. He has to feel relief this week while returning to the site of his career-best T2. Svoboda missed the cut at last week's Heritage, but also walked away with an ace on his card, holing out from 177 yards on the par-3 seventh hole in round one. He carried that momentum over to a 4-under 68 in round two, and could be on the verge of returning to form.
Apr 22 - 8:39 AM

Andrew Svoboda has gained entry into this week's Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Svoboda was the first alternate when the field was released on Friday. He found a spot in the field of 120 when three others withdrew. This will mark his first appearance at Bay Hill. Since finishing T32 at Torrey Pines six weeks ago, he's 2-for-3 but without a top 70. But he sprinkled in an induction to the Athletics Hall of Fame at his alma mater, St. John's University.
Mar 16 - 11:26 AM

Andrew Svoboda posted 3-under-par 32-36=68 in his opening round of the Valspar Championship, finishing three strokes off the overnight lead.

It's never fun finishing last of 76 as he did in Puerto Rico, but the beauty of being a touring professional is that everyone starts at even the following week. Svoboda should be more than pleased with today's score given he split only five (of 14) fairways and hit nine greens in regulation. He limited the damage to a pair of bogey-5s while picking off five birdies. The set included conversions from 17'4", 14'4" and 40'8" at Nos. 13, 14 and 18, respectively. He even rolled in a par save from 10'8" at the par-4 third. He entered the week ranked 88th in the FedExCup standings and with a consecutive cuts made streak of five.
Mar 12 - 6:53 PM

Andrew Svoboda has been removed from the published field of this week's Honda Classic.

Svoboda was scheduled to go off the first hole at PGA National's Champion Course at 11:55 a.m. ET. He was a late WD prior to his lid-lifter of the Humana Challenge five weeks ago, but he's played thrice since. He cashed in all three with a T17 at the WM Phoenix Open as the highlight. Svoboda sits 72nd in the FedExCup standings, so he can afford this week off. It'll give him the opportunity to attend his induction into the Athletics Hall of Fame at St. John's University on Saturday morning.
Feb 26 - 10:42 AM

Andrew Svoboda has collected four consecutive paydays ahead of this week's Honda Classic.

The Palm Beach Gardens resident will feel right at home this week as he makes his Honda Classic debut. He enters the week ranked 78th in strokes gained:total, doing most of the damage with his putter. His local knowledge combined with good 2014-15 form makes Svoboda an interesting sleeper in deep leagues.
Feb 24 - 8:40 PM

Andrew Svoboda is set for his first appearance in the Waste Management Phoenix Open.

Svoboda was a late scratch from last week's Humana Challenge, but it appears that nothing was seriously wrong with him since he's back on the saddle at TPC Scottsdale this week. He ranks 74th in the FedExCup standings, with a T18-T8 run in the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open and The McGladrey Classic standing as the best stretch of the 2014-15 season. His most recent return was a T51 in the Sony Open in Hawaii.
Jan 26 - 8:40 PM

Andrew Svoboda has withdrawn from this week's Humana Challenge.

He was scheduled to go off the 10th tee at La Quinta Country Club at 9:50 a.m. PT. Svoboda tied for 51st place last week at Waialae. He's 63rd in the FedExCup standings thanks to a pair of top 20s in the fall.
Jan 22 - 11:36 AM

Andrew Svoboda returns to La Quinta, California for the Humana Challenge.

Svoboda hopes the third time will be the charm in this event. After missing the cut in 2013, he rebounded with a T38 in 2014. He started off 2014-15 with a MC-T18-T8 run, but has faded of late. He missed the cut in the Sanderson Farms Championship and the OHL Classic at Mayakoba before posted a T51 at the Sony Open in Hawaii.
Jan 20 - 8:41 PM

Andrew Svoboda has cracked the top 20 twice in five starts to kick off his 2014-15 PGA TOUR campaign.

Considering he's missed the cut in his other three starts, Svoboda has been a bit of a feast-or-famine player to begin the new season. He tied for eighth in The McGladrey Classic, where he was a co-leader through 54 holes before suffering a final-round 71. He's never won on the PGA TOUR, and while he isn't at the top of the list of players waiting in line for a breakthrough win in 2014-15, he is at least in the conversation.
Fri, Nov 28, 2014 08:24:00 PM

Overnight co-leader Andrew Svoboda signed for a 1-over-par 33-38=71 after his final round of The McGladrey Classic and posted 11-under 269, three strokes too high to join the playoff.

For the fourth time this week, Svoboda played holes 1-9 bogey-free. Today's experience featured birdies at Nos. 4 and 6. However, he failed to record another birdie and squared three bogeys coming in. That's especially disappointing since he hit 16 greens in regulation, failed to scramble on the other two and added a three-putt from 44-and-a-half feet at the par-4 11th. If there's a bright side, Svoboda will leave the Golden Isles with his third top 10 in 49 PGA TOUR starts.

Andrew Svoboda turned in his third 4-under-par 66 at The McGladrey Classic to establish a share of the 54-hole lead at 12-under 198.

While he started on the 10th hole in the second round, he's scored bogey-free, 3-under 32 on holes 1-9 every day. Today's stroll around Seaside included six birdies, four of which from outside 20 feet! He opened with his longest from 31'7" at the par-4 first hole. Svoboda's only blemish occurred at the par-4 11th where he didn't find the putting surface until his fourth stroke and eventually penciled in a 6. Given his position on the leaderboard and today's clinic, he leads the fields in strokes gained: putting at 9.046.
