Doug LaBelle II is 7-under-par 70-67=137 at the midpoint of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, five strokes back of Lucas Glover's 36-hole lead.
DL2 has experienced a very quiet but steady return trip to the PGA TOUR. He entered the week having cashed in eight of 10 starts and sits 112th in FedExCup points. Thus far at TPC Louisiana, he's hit 26 greens and poured in 11 birdies. Four of today's set of six found the cup from outside 10 feet. This included respective conversions of 16'6", 25'11" and 14'7" at the 18th, first and eighth holes. He also drilled home a par save from 19'3" at 6. LaBelle II was the last of 11 to completed two rounds inside the top 10 on the leaderboard. Apr 26 - 8:18 PM

Doug LaBelle II has been removed from the published field of this week's Valero Texas Open.

LaBelle II is 8-for-9 on the season and sits 95th in FedExCup points, but it's strange anytime a guy in the middle of the graduate reshuffle withdraws. He posted a season-best T22 in Houston thanks to a closing bogey-free 66, which doesn't suggest that he's dealing with an injury. With next week off already, it's a gutsy move not to play if he's fine.

Apr 1 - 5:11 PM

Doug LaBelle II spun a bogey-free 6-under-par 32-34=66 in the final round of the Shell Houston Open, improving to 8-under 280 for the tournament.

He got his day off to a roaring start, making an eagle on the par-4 first hole when his approach from 140 yards found the bottom of the cup. He would tack on four birdies, with three of those on par 5s and the fourth at the par-4 10th from 16 inches. His previous best finish this season was a T30 at Pebble Beach. While he still has plenty of players to dodge before he officially tops that, he was T17 at the time of his posting. Next stop will be the Valero Texas Open.

Mar 31 - 1:35 PM

Doug LaBelle II settled for a 1-over-par 36-37=73 in his opening round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

We still don't know why he withdrew from last week's stop at Copperhead following and opening 80, but it's good to see him return immediately. He hit 12 greens in regulation but swallowed four bogeys, two of which as a result of three-putting. He helped offset those over-par holes with three birdies, the longest of which measuring 10'9" at the 14th hole.
Mar 21 - 7:39 PM

Doug LaBelle II withdrew from the Tampa Bay Championship prior to today's second round.

He posted a field-worst, 9-over-par 39-41=80 in the opening round. His loop of Copperhead included one birdie, six bogeys and two doubles. LaBelle II hit just six greens in regulation. If an explanation is released for his decision to call it quits, we will relay it to you. In the meantime, he's scheduled to tee it up at next week's Arnold Palmer Invitational where he's missed the cut in both of his previous appearances (2007, 2008).

Mar 15 - 11:17 AM

Doug LaBelle backed up his opening 66 at The Honda Classic with a 2-under-par 34-34=68 in his second round to reach the midpoint in 6-under 134.

DL2 added another five birdies at PGA National today, the longest of which from just 12 feet at the par-5 18th hole, his last of the round. Yet, he's probably kicking himself for the double bogey-6 at the sixth hole where he rinsed his approach. He also whiffed on a par save from 51 inches at the par-4 12th. He signed his card sitting three strokes back of the 36-hole clubhouse lead.
Mar 1 - 1:34 PM

Doug LaBelle II carded a 4-under-par 34-32=66 in his opening round of The Honda Classic.

LaBelle II is one of several golfers to sign his card sitting two strokes off Camilo Villegas' overnight lead. The 38-year-old journeyman erased an early bogey at the par-4 11th hole with five birdies, three of which ranging from 10-16 feet. In his only previous appearance at PGA National, he tied for 13th place in 2007 thanks to a closing 66.
Feb 28 - 6:51 PM

Doug LaBelle II has been added to the published field of this week's Honda Classic.

DL2 was the second alternate when the field was released on Friday afternoon, but he gained entry on a sponsor exemption. The journeyman has cashed in all four of his starts this year but has yet to crack a top 25. He'll be making his first appearance at PGA National.

Doug LaBelle II crafted a bogey-free, 8-under-par 32-32=64 at PGA West's Nicklaus Private in his opening round of the Humana Challenge.

LaBelle II took advantage of the par 5s today, netting two eagles and a birdie to finish one stroke behind the threesome sharing the overnight lead. He finished T49 last week at Waialae thanks to a pair of 66s in the middle two rounds. He'll be aiming to pile on today's heroics in his second round at Palmer Private on Friday.
Jan 17 - 7:51 PM

Doug LaBelle II was granted a sponsor exemption into this week's Humana Challenge.

DL2 was the second alternate when the field was released on Friday afternoon, but three spots remained after Ben Crane snuck in as a late entry. LaBelle II finished T49 at the Sony Open on Sunday. In his only previous start at the Humana, he missed the cut in 2007 when it was a 90-hole event. He's scheduled to go off the first tee at PGA West's Nicklaus Private Course at 10:30 a.m. PT on Thursday.
Jan 14 - 8:47 PM

Doug LaBelle II claimed the Utah Championship by a stroke over four players with a 15-under-par 269, making it his first Web.com Tour win of the year and second of his career.

LaBelle entered the final round in a tie for third, but his 3-under 35-33=69 was enough to pull out the win. The irons carried him for the week, as he was T7 in GIR with 76.4 percent of his approaches finding the putting surface. Coming into the week, he had made the cut in six (of 11) events, with his best finish was a T17 at the Mexico Open. By virtue of this win, he moves inside the top 25 on the Web.com Tour money list and in position to earn his PGA TOUR card should he maintain his position.

Doug LaBelle II followed his opening 66 with a 3-under-par 31-36=67 in his second round of the Sony Open in Hawaii, finishing two rounds in 7-under 133, just three shots off Matt Every's pace.

LaBelle II raced out to go bogey-free 5-under after 12 holes thanks to a 53'4" conversion for birdie at the 14th hole, a par save of 14'1" at the 16th and a birdie that found the cup from nine yards off the green at the second. He coughed up bogeys at the fourth and fifth holes, however, to drift a bit but he's in striking distance. Should he hang on for a top 10 this weekend, he'd gain entry into the Farmers Insurance Open in two weeks since next week's Humana Challenge is not an open event.

Doug LaBelle II carded a 4-under-par 33-33=66 in his opening round of the Sony Open in Hawaii, finishing three strokes back of Graham DeLaet's clubhouse lead.

DL2 qualified via Monday's four-spotter. He last played the PGA TOUR full-time in 2008. At Waialae today, he split seven (of 14) fairways, hit 12 greens and took a tidy 26 putts. His lone blemish occurred at the par-3 fourth hole where he failed to save par from 3'10". However, he rolled in birdies of 23'7", 15'6" and 28'9" at the second, sixth and 17th holes, respectively. He also converted a par save of 10'5" at the 12th.

Doug LaBelle II crafted a career-low, 7-under-par 63 in the opening round of the Frys.com Open.

LaBelle hit 12 (of 14) fairways and 14 GIR at Grayhawk today, but it was his field-tying low 25 putts that jump off the scorecard. He sunk seven birdies, including a 13-footer at the 9th hole (his last) to tie John Mallinger for the 18-hole lead. Like most on the leader board, DL2 played in the afternoon wave and will be benefited with a morning tee time on Friday, as winds will not be blowing like they were early today.

Doug LaBelle II on Monday afternoon was added to the field of the Frys.com Open.

LaBelle's game has improved from the summer and he had a nice T-14 a few weeks ago at the Viking Classic. He played in last year's Fry's.com, but he missed the cut.
