Doug LaBelle II carded a 4-under-par 34-34=68 worth 11 points in his opening round of the Barracuda Championship, finishing five points back of the clubhouse co-leaders.
Only avid gamers are even aware that DL2 has conditional status this season. He's just 3-for-10 with no top 50s and sits 225th in the FedExCup standings. At Montrêux Golf and Country Club today, he hit only 11 greens in regulation, but converted seven birdies to offset three bogeys. Jul 31 - 7:07 PM

In today's open qualifier for The Greenbrier Classic, Doug LaBelle II smoothed a bogey-free, 6-under-par 31-34=65 on the Cobb Course at the Resort at Glade Springs in Daniels, West Virginia, good for a share of medalist honors and a berth into the tournament proper.

LaBelle II buried six birdies to secure just his eighth start on the PGA TOUR this season. He's been capped by conditional status and sits 220th in FedExCup points and 218th in earnings. He missed the cut in his debut at Greenbrier last year. Jeff Curl also turned in a 6-under 65 today. He traded seven birdies with one bogey en route to respective nines of 34 and 31. He's currently 55th on the Web.com Tour money list. At 5-under 66, Brian Agee and Mikey Moyers gobbled up the last two spots in the four-spotter. Agee (36-30) holed nine birdies to offset four bogeys while Moyers (33-33) outpaced two bogeys with seven birdies. Each will be making his PGA TOUR debut this week. The field at The Old White TPC is now complete at 156.
Jun 30 - 3:55 PM

Doug LaBelle II submitted a bogey-free, 5-under-par 33-32=65 for his opening round of the Travelers Championship, finishing three strokes off the clubhouse lead.

DL2 is just 2-for-6 this season due to conditional status, so today's season-low aggregate deserves that context. However, it's better than the alternative. He got up and down all five times and rolled in five birdies, including conversions from 12'11" ant 23'2" at Nos. 9 and 10, respectively. The closest he came to a bogey was thwarted with a par save from 12'10" at 15. LaBelle II went 17-for-17 inside 13 feet. At least check, his strokes gained-putting measurement rest at a beefy 4.425.
Jun 19 - 2:43 PM

Doug LaBelle II has been added to the published field of this week's FedEx St. Jude Classic.

LaBelle II was the fourth alternate when the field was released on Friday afternoon. He gained entry after a number of withdrawals today. With only two paydays in five starts this season, and neither going for a top 50, he needs to scramble to qualify for the Web.com Tour Finals, much less the FedExCup Playoffs. (He's currently 142nd in earnings on the Web.com Tour.) Perhaps TPC Southwind will provide the catalyst as it's the site of his last top 40 on the PGA TOUR. He tied for 18th last year.

Doug LaBelle II opened the Zurich Classic of New Orleans with a 4-under-par 34-34=68 to establish the very early clubhouse lead.

It's been an eventful 18 hours or so for the journeyman. He didn't receive a tee time until Fred Funk withdrew on Wednesday afternoon, and then when he was laced up to go, play was delayed by 20 minutes due to fog. LaBelle II went off in the first threesome off the 10th tee and promptly hit 14 greens in regulation en route to six birdies. Five among the set traveled longer than 11 feet, the highlight measuring 18'2" at the par-4 13th hole. At the time he walked off, his strokes gained-putting clip rested north of 2.600. Today's score is just his ninth of the season, but it's his lowest.

Doug LaBelle II has been added to the published field of this week's Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

LaBelle II started the week as the sixth alternate, but climbed in when Fred Funk withdrew today. DL2 has cashed in just one of three starts this season, that a T52 at Pebble Beach. Mired deep in the conditional status category, he has virtually zero fantasy value, but he's 2-for-2 at TPC Louisiana with a T32 last year.

Doug LaBelle II is set for his fourth start in the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.

LaBelle II has twice tied for 30th in the event to go with one missed cut. Playing with conditional status, this is only his second playing opportunity in 2013-14. His first was a missed cut at the Frys.com Open to kick off the new season. To say he's feeling pressure to perform this week would be an understatement.

Feb 5 - 8:14 PM

Doug LaBelle II will have to fight for starts with only conditional status in 2013-14 on the PGA TOUR.

Labelle II was able to Monday qualify for the Frys.com Open to start the year, but failed to cash in on the opportunity. In 2013, he made 14 of 23 cuts but only managed a pair of top 25s. Given his inability to finish off tournaments in 2013 and his uphill climb for tee times this season, it's probably best for gamers to back off.

With a 5-under-par 31-36=67 at Bayonet Golf Course in Seaside, Calif., Doug LaBelle II shared medalist honors in today's open qualifier for the Frys.com Open.

DL2 missed the cut in all four events in the Web.com Tour Finals, but he secured conditional status on the 2013-14 PGA TOUR for finishing 147th in FedExCup points, so we'll see him 10-12 times over the 45 events. This week's start is a bonus, however, as it would have required maybe 20 withdrawals before his number would have been called on merit. He offset one bogey with five birdies, five on his outward side (the back nine at Bayonet). Mark Hubbard shared the top of the leaderboard at 5-under 32-35=67, also on the strength of six birdies against a lone bogey. In his only previous start on TOUR, he missed the cut in Reno two months ago. Jim Renner (4-under 33-35=68; 5 birdies, 1 bogey) and TOUR winner Jason Gore (4-under 33-35=68, 5 birdies, 1 bogey) tied for third to secure the other two berths into the tournament proper. Renner is a Web.com Tour Finals graduate. The field at CordeValle Golf Club is now complete at 132.

Doug LaBelle II has been removed from the published field of this week's Sanderson Farms Championship.

Given he's just 134th in FedExCup points, it's an interesting decision not to play as often as possible. Of course, this assumes he's healthy and there's nothing outside the ropes demanding his attention. He tied for 61st place at the John Deere Classic.

Doug LaBelle spun a bogey-free, 4-under-par 32-34=66 in his second round of the FedEx St. Jude Classic.

He split 10 (of 14) fairways and hit 16 greens in regulation at TPC Southwind today, burying four birdies along the way. The set included conversions from 16'1" at the 13th hole and 18'11" at 16. Today's score ends an eight-round drought without a sub-70. He signed his card at 4-under 136, six strokes adrift of the 36-hole clubhouse lead.

Doug LaBelle II is set for his third trip to TPC Southwind for the FedEx St. Jude Classic.

While he's missed the cut in each of his previous two starts in Memphis, he has experienced some success at par-70 courses. Ranking 48th in the all-around category, the biggest surprise may be that he's only 123rd in FedExCup points. Though he's missed the cut in his last two starts, he did successfully qualify for the U.S. Open on Monday.

Doug LaBelle II is 7-under-par 70-67=137 at the midpoint of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, five strokes back of Lucas Glover's 36-hole lead.

DL2 has experienced a very quiet but steady return trip to the PGA TOUR. He entered the week having cashed in eight of 10 starts and sits 112th in FedExCup points. Thus far at TPC Louisiana, he's hit 26 greens and poured in 11 birdies. Four of today's set of six found the cup from outside 10 feet. This included respective conversions of 16'6", 25'11" and 14'7" at the 18th, first and eighth holes. He also drilled home a par save from 19'3" at 6. LaBelle II was the last of 11 to completed two rounds inside the top 10 on the leaderboard.

Doug LaBelle II has been removed from the published field of this week's Valero Texas Open.

LaBelle II is 8-for-9 on the season and sits 95th in FedExCup points, but it's strange anytime a guy in the middle of the graduate reshuffle withdraws. He posted a season-best T22 in Houston thanks to a closing bogey-free 66, which doesn't suggest that he's dealing with an injury. With next week off already, it's a gutsy move not to play if he's fine.

Doug LaBelle II spun a bogey-free 6-under-par 32-34=66 in the final round of the Shell Houston Open, improving to 8-under 280 for the tournament.

He got his day off to a roaring start, making an eagle on the par-4 first hole when his approach from 140 yards found the bottom of the cup. He would tack on four birdies, with three of those on par 5s and the fourth at the par-4 10th from 16 inches. His previous best finish this season was a T30 at Pebble Beach. While he still has plenty of players to dodge before he officially tops that, he was T17 at the time of his posting. Next stop will be the Valero Texas Open.
