Joe Durant posted a 4-under-par 29-37=66 in the third round of The Greenbrier Classic to reach the 54-hole mark at 8-under 202.
Durant was hot early in his round at The Old White TPC, netting five birdie on the front nine. Never known for his putting prowess, his 45'5" birdie at the first, 21'4" birdie at the fourth and 19'3" birdie at the eighth holes were pleasant surprises and a big reason as to why he gained over three strokes with the flat stick. He lost his mojo on the back, squaring two bogeys and settling for six pars before ending things with a three-inch birdie at the par-3 18th. Jul 5 - 4:03 PM

Joe Durant carded a 5-under-par 34-31=65 in his opening round of The Greenbrier Classic to earn a share of the clubhouse lead.

The ball-striker's ball-striker just did his thing on The Old White TPC this morning. He split 13 (of 14) fairways and hit 16 greens in regulation en route to six birdies, including a pair just outside 14 feet. Durant's only gaffe occurred at the par-4 11th hole, -- his second of the round -- where he had to punch out after a poor drive and eventually two-putted from nine feet for bogey. At 199th in FedExCup points, anything he collects is a bonus as Durant is likely headed to the Champions Tour in 2015.

Joe Durant did his thing in the opening round of the Travelers Championship, posting a bogey-free, 6-under-par 33-31=64.

True to his reputation, Durant split all 14 fairways and hit 16 greens in regulation to set the stage for six birdies and finish two strokes off the clubhouse lead. Two of his birdies stretched longer than 10 feet, including a conversion from 21'7" at the par-4 third hole. This is his lowest aggregate since he capped off a T12 at the 2010 Wyndham Championship with a 64. Since turning 50 years of age in April, he's made four starts on the Champions Tour, but the four-time PGA TOUR winner is fully exempt on the regular circuit via the Web.com Tour Finals.

Joe Durant followed his opening 66 at the FedEx St. Jude Classic with a 5-over-par 38-37=75 to post 1-over 141.

At the time he signed his card, he sat immediately below the cut line. Of course, if he had turned in a pair of similarly mediocre rounds, this wouldn't have our attention, but today's disappointment warranted a follow-up. Durant hit only seven greens at TPC Southwind today. He found only one birdie and his longest conversion dropped for par from 11'9" at the par-4 sixth hole. He also fanned on two tries inside 10 feet.

Joe Durant opened the FedEx St. Jude Classic with a 4-under-par 35-31=66, finishing three strokes off the clubhouse lead.

Durant's fantasy value is long gone, but he's a crafty veteran, so you'd expect him to make noise every now and again. He opened with nine consecutive pars before going birdie-birdie-eagle to begin his inward side, the front half of TPC Southwind. That burst featured a five-yard hole-out from the rough at the par-4 second and a conventional roll from 12'3" at the par-5 third. The recently turned 50-year-old (April 7) hasn't gone this low on the PGA TOUR since opening the 2012 McGladrey Classic with 65 roughly 19-and-a-half months ago.

Joe Durant turns his attention to TPC Southwind for this week's FedEx St. Jude Classic.

Durant took home a seventh place finish last week at the Principal Charity Classic in Des Moines, Iowa, his third straight top 10 on the Champions Tour. Inversely, he's missed five of his last six cuts on the PGA TOUR and has failed to play the weekend in five of his last six trips to TPC Southwind. Other than Durant's Champions Tour momentum, there are no signs indicating a strong performance should be expected this week.

Joe Durant makes his seventh trip to TPC Louisiana for this week's Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

The Web.com grad had not had much success at the Zurich Classic since the venue changed to TPC Louisiana, missing the cut 3-of-6 times since the switch. Durant is on the heels of five straight missed cuts and hasn't played a weekend on TOUR since the second week of January.

Joe Durant is aback for an 11th Valero Texas Open this week.

Three of his first 10 starts have taken place at this week's venue of TPC San Antonio. He's cashed twice. Durant has missed his last four cuts, so form isn't exactly on his side. His calling card has always been driving accuracy, which tends to play well on the tight layout facing the players this week. In addition, anything that misses the fairway by too much will be met with a penal native area.

Joe Durant has failed to cash a check in his five previous outings at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.

It's a bit amazing that only five of his 434 starts have come in this event, but clearly Pebble Beach Golf Links doesn't suit his eye. He's failed to make the cut in his five previous starts. Perhaps the stats tell the story. Durant is one of the most accurate drivers on the PGA TOUR, and has been for years. Driving accuracy isn't at a premium in this event due to forgiving fairways and light rough.

Joe Durant begins the 2013-14 PGA TOUR season as a full-time member once again.

He's a four-time winner, but has struggled to find success as he nears one of the golfing profession's magic numbers. He turns 50 in April, meaning he could consider a jump to the Champions Tour at that time. Known as one of the most accurate drivers over the last decade and an above-average iron player to boot, Durant struggles with length and putting. He's made one of his first two cuts, amassing 25 FedExCup points in the process. He is subject to the reshuffle, so every point counts.

Joe Durant is set to tee it up in his fourth McGladrey Classic.

Durant tied for sixth in the 2010 inaugural edition and hasn't missed a start on the Seaside Course since. This marks his first event of the 2013-14 PGA TOUR season, so it appears he's dipping his toe in some preferable water. He turns 50 in April of 2014, so it's possible he's biding his time until he can jump over to the Champions Tour.

Joe Durant has been added to the published field of this week's HP Byron Nelson Championship.

Durant started the week as the fourth alternate, but gained entry when Bob Estes withdrew. Durant's only top 10 since 2011 was a T3 at last year's HPBNC when he closed with a pair of 65s. He's 1-for-3 this season on Past Champion status with a T37 in San Antonio.

Joe Durant has been added to the published field of this week's Valero Texas Open.

Durant was the second alternate when the field was released on Friday afternoon. He gained entry due to several withdrawals today. While he's 3-for-3 on the Web.com Tour this season, he's yet to cash in two starts with the big boys this year. His lone payday in two starts at TPC San Antonio was a T41 in 2010.

Joe Durant posted a 5-under-par 33-32=65 in his opening round of The McGladrey Classic, finishing one stroke off the clubhouse lead.

Durant was the first from the late draw to sign for a 66 or lower. He's the fifth overall to put up a 65. The renowned ball-striker split 13 (of 14) fairways and hit 15 greens en route to six birdies at Seaside. Four of his birdies found the cup from beyond 11 feet, the most notable disappearing from 33'7" at the 11th hole. He also poured in a par save from 23'7" at 7. He's played out of the Past Champion category this year, which has limited him to 13 starts including this week. The four-time PGA TOUR champ sits 153rd on the money list. He gained entry into the McGladrey on a sponsor exemption.

Joe Durant has been added to the published field of this week's Frys.com Open.

Durant was the first alternate when the field was released on Friday afternoon, but he gained entry on a sponsor exemption. When Tommy Gainey withdrew, John Daly got in on merit, thus opening the exemption for Durant. The four-time PGA TOUR champ sits 149th on the money list, not bad considering he's been limited to 11 starts due to Past Champion status. He's 1-for-2 at CordeValle Golf Club with a T27 in 2010.
