Edward Loar crafted a 6-under-par 32-32=64 in his second round of the RBC Canadian Open.
It's been a terrible year for the lefty. He entered the week 2-for-16 with just 8.70 FedExCup points. However, today wasn't just a season highlight, Loar can log it as a career achievement of sorts. He matched his career low on the PGA TOUR in what is his 52nd start dating back to 2000. He first signed for a 64 after his second round of the 2012 Greenbrier Classic. Today he split 10 (of 14) fairways and 13 greens, pouring in seven birdies along the way. The set featured conversions from 27 feet, 12'11" and 17'8" at Nos. 11, 17 and 2, respectively. He also holed a par try from 10'5" at 16. Loar's only miscue was a bogey-5 at the fourth hole. At 4-under 136, he's six strokes off the 36-hole clubhouse lead. Fri, Jul 25, 2014 02:01:00 PM

Edward Loar has been added to the published field of this week's Greenbrier Classic.

Loar was the first alternate when the field was released on Friday afternoon. He gained entry due to three withdrawals this morning. The lefty is just 1-for-14 with a T58 in Puerto Rico this season.

Edward Loar will make his third appearance in the FedEx St. Jude Classic later this week.

Familiarity may not breed success, as he's missed his first two cuts at TPC Southwind with rounds of 71, 79, 77 and 71 on the par-70 layout. Having missed 11 of his 12 cuts this season, there is absolutely no reason to invest anything in his direction.

Edward Loar has missed nine of his 10 PGA TOUR cuts ahead of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

Expectations were high for the Tour grad this season, as it is his second look at the PGA TOUR course rotation in the last three years. Familiarity hasn't meant success, as his T58 in Puerto Rico represents his only payday of the year. At 229th in the FedExCup standings, starts will be increasingly harder to come by unless he can bank some more FEC points quickly. He is subject to all future reshuffles barring a win.

Edward Loar has been added to the published field of this week's Valero Texas Open.

The lefty was the fourth alternate when the field was released on Friday afternoon, but he gained entry when five withdrew this morning. Loar opened the season with eight consecutive missed cuts to fall near the bottom of the Tour reshuffle, but picked off a T58 in Puerto Rico. He missed the cut at TPC San Antonio in 2012 in his only previous appearance.

Edward Loar is mired in a massive slump ahead of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.

In seven 2013-14 PGA TOUR starts, he has yet to earn a paycheck. He's broken 70 just three times in 15 rounds, with a 67 in the first round of the Shriners Hosptials for Children Open the best, but erased by a second-round 75. He ranks 166th in the all-around ranking, so take your pick as to the weakness.

Edward Loar is back on the PGA TOUR in 2013-14 after regaining his card via the 2013 Tour regular season money list.

Loar had a career year on the Tour in 2013, posting six top-five finishes including a win, two runners-up and a third. Unfortunately, the form didn't carry into the start of the new season. He missed all four of his cuts to start the year, and being subject to the reshuffle he has seen his number plummet. Unfortunately, that's par for his career course. In 39 PGA TOUR starts, he's made just 10 cuts and has never recorded a top 10.

Edward Loar makes his third start of the 2013-14 PGA TOUR season at The McGladrey Classic.

Loar missed the cut in each of his first two starts of the season, failing to piece solid rounds back-to-back. A first-round 67 at TPC Summerlin gave way to a second-round 75 in his most recent outing. He cashed a check at the Seaside Course in 2012, but missed out in the 54-hole cut.

Edward Loar shares the lead at the Chiquita Classic after opening with a 5-under-par 33-34=67.

Loar already locked up his 2013-14 PGA TOUR card with an excellent Tour season already under his belt. He finished in the top six on six occasions, with a win Louisiana serving as the highlight. With no real pressure on his shoulders this week, the expectation is that he will put together a solid final three rounds. Amazingly, he managed seven birdies despite hitting just seven GIR.

Edward Loar fired a 9-under-par 31-32=63 in the third round of the WNB Golf Classic to take a one-stroke lead at 15-under 201.

Loar was bogey-free with nine birdies on his first 14 holes before finally dropping a shot at the par-5 15th. He rebounded to circle a 10th, and final, birdie at the 17th. To say he's riding a wave of momentum may be an understatement. He won in his last Tour start in Louisiana and would take over the top spot on the money list with a win tomorrow.

Edward Loar posted a 2-under-par 33-36=69 in the final round of the Chitimacha Louisiana Open and held off Morgan Hoffmann by two strokes to claim his second career Tour title.

The lefty circled six birdies and gave back four bogeys in his final lap around Le Triomphe Country Club in Broussard, La., finishing the week at 17-under 68-66-64-69=267. This puts a stamp on a recent strong run that includes a runner-up finish at the Chile Classic. With $164,684 in earnings, he wrestles the No. 1 position on the Tour money list away from Patrick Cantlay. Loar is assured of a berth in the Tour Finals and has the inside track toward a spot inside the top 25 that guarantees a 2013-14 PGA TOUR card.

Edward Loar has continued his trendy play at this week's Chitimacha Louisiana Open, taking the 54-hole lead at 15-under-par 198 with a 7-under-par 31-33=64 in the third round.

Loar has improved in each of his previous three Tour starts this season, following a missed cut in Panama with a T19 in Colombia and a tie for second at the Chile Classic, where he also shared the 54-hole lead. In Saturday's round at Le Triomphe CC he circled eight birdies, including each of the four par 5s, to just one bogey. Should he close the deal in the final round, it would be his second win on the Tour and is projected to move him to first on the money list.

Edward Loar has been joined atop the leaderboard of the Chile Classic by Kevin Kisner and Benjamin Alvarado at 17-under-par 199 after turning in a respectable 3-under-par 34-35=69.

He had a chance to nab the lead by himself at the par-5 18th, but could not manage a birdie or better. In all, he circled five birdies to just two bogeys in his third lap around the Prince of Wales Country Club.

Edward Loar fired a bogey-free 7-under-par 34-31=65 in the second round of the Chile Classic, and leads by two strokes over Brice Garnett and Danny Lee.

Loar's 65 was his second in as many rounds, reaching the midpoint at 14-under 130. In the second round he started his day on the back nine, circling birdies on the 15th and 18th holes before making the turn. He then heated up to birdie five of the nine holes on the front, distancing himself from the pack of chasers in the process. He's no stranger to success on the Tour's travels outside of the United States, picking off a win at the Panama Claro Championship last season.

Edward Loar will defend his title at the Panama Claro Championship this week.

Loar was a member of the 2012 PGA TOUR, but broke away long enough to play in last year’s Panama Claro Championship after a poor West Coast Swing. He entered the final round with the lead and held on to win despite a 4-over-par 74 in the final round. Ironically, he made more money in nine Tour events last year ($145,901) than he did in 23 PGA TOUR events ($97,947). Statistically, he is best known for his length off the tee.
