Marc Turnesa turned in a 5-under-par 37-30=67 at the Bayonet Course at Bayonet and Black Horse in Seaside, Calif. in today's open qualifier for the Frys.com Open to earn a spot in the tournament proper.

The one-time PGA TOUR winner opened with a birdie at the par-5 10th hole but finished his first nine in birdie-free 2-over. He then flipped on the jets for six birdies on his inward side. Turnesa shared medalist honors with Veteran Member Craig Barlow, who signed for a 5-under 35-32=67. Barlow circled eight birdies to offset one bogey and a double. Derek Ernst erased two bogeys with six birdies to finish alone in third place at 4-under 32-36=68. The final of four berths required a 6-way playoff from which Matt Marshall (33-36=69; five birdies, one bogey) survived. The field for the Frys.com Open is now complete at 132.

Marc Turnesa has 5 points after his opening round of the Reno-Tahoe Open.

Back in action following a mysterious withdrawal after 27 holes of the True South Classic two weeks ago, Turnesa hit 11 greens at Montreux Golf and Country Club today. He traded four birdies with three bogeys to finish 9 points in arrears of the clubhouse lead.

Marc Turnesa is listed in the published field of next week's Reno-Tahoe Open.

We still don't know why he called it quits during his second round of last week's True South Classic. He rose as high as fifth alternate for the RBC Canadian Open, but settles for a spot at Montreux next week where he'll be looking to end an 0-for-5 slide.

Marc Turnesa withdrew during his second round of the True South Classic.

Turnesa teed off on the par-4 first hole and then walked off. It was his 10th of the second round. He was 2-over for the round and 4-over for the tournament at the time. If an explanation is released for his decision, we will relay it to you. It drops him to 3-for-8 on the year.

Marc Turnesa has been added to the publishe field of this week's John Deere Classic.

Turnesa was the fourth alternate when the field was released on Friday afternoon. He gained entry when Hank Kuehne withdrew. Turnesa is 3-for-6 this season but he hasn't cashed in his last three starts. He's missed the cut in both appearances at TPC Deere Run (2008, 2009).

Marc Turnesa was the last man to sneak into the HP Byron Nelson field at the commitment deadline and will look to make the best of his opportunity this week.

Turnesa has found starts hard to come by playing out of the Past Champion category, but he's done a decent job of making the most of them. He's cashed in three of his four attempts, with a T16 at Mayakoba as the highlight. He'd rank first in Strokes Gained-Putting at 2.302 if he had enough rounds in the books to qualify.

Marc Turnesa crafted a bogey-free, 4-under-par 35-32=67 in his opening round of the Mayakoba Golf Classic, finishing with a share of the clubhouse lead.

Making his first start since getting demoted to the Past Champion category, Turnesa was impressive today. He hit 14 greens, rolled in four birdies and got up and down for par four times. He took 29 putts. Unless he wins, his fantasy value is limited to opposite events, and only in the deepest of formats.

Marc Turnesa has been removed from the published field of this week's Waste Management Phoenix Open.

As we relayed on Sunday night, Turnesa lost his status after failing to meet the terms of his medical extension. He shot a 2-over-par 74 at the Monday qualifer for the WMPO, seven strokes too high to join this morning's four-man playoff that will decide the final man in the field of 132 at TPC Scottsdale. He will play out of the Past Champion category for the remainder of the year.

Marc Turnesa shared 33rd place at the Farmers Insurance Open and failed to meet the terms of his Major Medical Extension.

Turnesa was low man at Torrey Pines South on Thursday with a 66 but chased it with a 72 at Torrey North on Friday and a 74-70 weekend to finish at 6-under-par 282 worth $29,100.00. He needed a two-way T2 to retain his status; a two-way T4 would have secured conditional status for the remainder of the year. Instead, he'll plummet into the Past Champion category. For the record, he fell short of his primary goal by $448,312. Turnesa came up short of conditional status by $225,064.

Marc Turnesa spun a 6-under-par 32-34=66 at Torrey Pines South in his opening round of the Farmers Insurance Open.

Well, whattaya know. Even if he wasn't the clubhouse leader on the South Course, he'd have our attention today and for the week. He last competed at the final stage of Q School where he called it quits after just three holes due to a back injury. Meanwhile, this is his final start on a Major Medical Extension from which he needs no worse than a two-way T2 or two-way T4 to retain fully-exempt or conditional status, respectively. Perhaps he's playing with reckles abandon given the lofty goals. He hit only 13 greens in regulation but swallowed just one bogey. He rolled in par saves of 18'1" and 8'11" at the 13th and fourth holes, respectively. The highlights among his seven birdies occurred at the 14th and third holes where he converted tries of 36'6" and 20'8", respectively.

Marc Turnesa is listed in the published field of next week's Farmers Insurance Open.

The one-time PGA TOUR winner last made news when he withdrew after just three holes of the finals of Q School due to a back injury. If he doesn't withdraw from the Farmers, it will mark his final start on a Major Medical Extension from which he needs to earn $477,413 to retain status. That would require no worse than a two-way T2 worth $528K. Short of that, he could secure conditional status with a two-way T4 worth $264K. (He's currently $254,164 shy.) And if he fails at his secondary goal, he'll tumble into the Past Champion category for the remainder of the year.

Marc Turnesa withdrew after his third hole in the first round of Q School due to a back injury.

Unfortunately, back-related maladies are nothing new to Turnesa. We'll add him to our Injury Report since he still has one start remaining on his Major Medical Extension to earn $477,413 and retain status. Avoid him on draft day.

Marc Turnesa shared 28th place at the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Classic, earning $29,296.67.

Turnesa was under par in every round, finishing at an aggregate 8-under 280 for his eighth payday in 20 starts this year. Unless he graduates from Q School, he'll have one start on his Major Medical Extension to bank $477,413 and retain status in 2012. Short of that goal, he'd need $254,165 to secure conditional status.

Marc Turnesa was removed from the published field of this week's McGladrey Classic.

He hasn't played anywhere since missing the cut at the Wyndham Championship in August. While he's not going to play at Sea Island this week, he remains in the field at the Miccosukee Championship on the Nationwide Tour. However, because of his status on the PGA TOUR, he'd only be allowed to play the Miccosukee if he's filed paperwork requesting a rehab start due to injury or personal matter. Stay tuned.
