Charlie Beljan posted a 5-under-par 32-35=67 in his opening round of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
Beljan hadn't broken 70 in his last 16 rounds. His last round in the 60s was a closing 67 at the Northern Trust Open where he lost in a playoff and then likened Riviera to a miniature golf course. At TPC Louisiana today, he landed 13 greens in regulation and converted six birdies. The set included rolls from 12'6" and 11'10" at the 13th and 18th holes, respectively. He also got a par attempt to drop in from 13'11" at 16. The bomber signed his card sitting three strokes in arrears of the clubhouse lead. Apr 25 - 1:43 PM

Charlie Beljan will make his first start in the Shell Houston Open.

Beljan's number wasn't good enough to get him into this event in last year’s rookie season, but as a recent PGA TOUR winner he doesn't have to worry about that for a couple of years. Since his playoff loss at at Riviera, he’s missed two cuts and finishes T69 at Bay Hill. The book on him supports that he will miss on more weeks than he hits, and with his length a good fit for Redstone he could find this setup to his liking.

Charlie Beljan fired a 4-under-par 32-35=67 in the final round of the Northern Trust Open to take the lead in the clubhouse at 11-under 273.

Beljan is just a few months removed from his win at the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Classic, but not much has happened since. His only payday in five events prior to this week came at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions to start the 2013 season. In his final lap around Riviera CC he circled three early birdies before dropping his only shot of the day on the short par-4 10th. He bounced back with a birdie on the par-3 14th from 15'3" and added a final red number with a 17'11" birdie on the 18th. He joined John Merrick in a playoff, and after a clutch par save on the 18th in the first hole of sudden death, he failed to do the same on the par-4 10th. He is not in the field for the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship.

Charlie Beljan was excited to learn he would be paired with Ernie Els and Phil Mickelson in the third round of the Northern Trust Open and responded with a 3-under-par 36-32=68

Beljan was the lowest man of his dream threesome by four strokes, circling five birdies and squaring two bogeys in his third lap around Riviera CC. He opened with a four-foot birdie on the opening par-5 first hole. He then limped his way through the rest of the front nine with two bogeys and six pars. He quickly recovered at the turn, rattling off birdies on 10, 11 and 12 before adding a final birdie at the par-5 17th. All of his birdies were inside 10 feet. He enters the final round at 7-under 206.

Charlie Beljan posted a 4-under-par 33-34=67 in his opening round of the Northern Trust Open, finishing three strokes in arrears of the overnight lead.

He finished his round under the cover of encroaching darkness, but it wound up as his lowest score since a second-round 64 at Disney where he broke through for his only PGA TOUR victory. Beljan converted seven birdies at Riviera today, three of which ranging between 10-13 feet. He also incurred a double bogey at the par-4 12th hole and concluded his round with a bogey-5 at 18.

Charlie Beljan heads to the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am with just one cut under his belt in 2013.

That's a bit misleading, given that cut came at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions where there isn't a cut. Since then, he missed the cut at the Humana Challenge, Farmers Insurance Open and Waste Managment Phoenix Open. If he's expecting a trip to the Monterey Peninsula to cure his slump, he will have to rewrite his course history. He missed the cut in his first try last season.

Charlie Beljan closed out 2012 in magical fashion with his win at the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Classic to secure his spot in the Hyundai Tournament of Champions.

The rookie only factored three times on the PGA TOUR, but it was enough to secure him a spot on the PGA TOUR for the next two years. He just missed out on a playoff at The Greenbrier Classic before an extended dry spell left him desperate in the Fall Series. A top 10 on the number at The McGladrey Classic precluded his dramatic Disney victory.

Charlie Beljan fired a 3-under-par 33-36=69 in the final round of the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Classic to ride away with a two-stroke victory on Disney's Magnolia Golf Course.

Beljan had a week to remember on many fronts. He stepped onto the first tee on Thursday as the 139th man on the money list, needing a big week to secure his 2013 PGA TOUR card. After opening with a 4-under 68 on the Magnolia Golf Course, he turned his attention to the easier Palm Golf Course on Friday. While his scorecard shows a 64, it doesn't illustrate the agony caused by what we now believe to be a panic attack that almost forced him to withdraw on multiple occasions. After a stay in the hospital, he grinded on and settled for a 1-under 71 in the third round before polishing off the best week of his young career at 16-under 272. He got it done with his length and his irons, tied for lead in distance with a 307.4-yard average and tied for seventh in GIR at 75 percent. Not only is he now exempt for the 2013 season, the win also means he is safe for 2014 as well.

Charlie Beljan persevered after a late night and a plethora of medical tests to post a 1-under-par 36-35=71 in the third round of the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Classic to post a two-stroke lead after 54 holes.

The final verdict on Beljan's Friday health scare seems to be a panic attack, as speculated yesterday evening and further confirmed by multiple sources. He answered the bell on Saturday, but immediately dropped shots on two of his first three holes. He bounced back to play his next nine holes in 4-under, before dropping his third and final stroke on the par-3 12th. It would then be pars to the house, reaching the 54-hole mark at 13-under 203. The rookie leads the tournament in driving distance at 309.0 yards and is tied for second in GIR at 77.8 percent.

Charlie Beljan fully intends on sticking his tee in the ground at 10:55 a.m. ET when his third round of the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Classic is scheduled to begin.

GolfChannel.com's Rex Hoggard connected with the 36-hole leader in his hospital room on Friday evening. "I'm feeling much better," said Beljan, who experienced chest pains and lightheadedness during his second round. "Much better than I was on that back nine today. ... Hopefully we'll be out there tomorrow to try to finish this deal off. As long as [medics] tell me that I'm not going to fall over and die, I'm going to be there." Beljan's incident may be related to panic attacks that he's suffered before, but it triggered memories of a similar incident that occurred with J.P. Hayes at the then-PODS Championship in 2007. Hayes, who had dealt with arrhythmia, suffered from chest pains and dizziness in advance of his final round. He hit four shots and then withdrew before getting whisked off to the hospital.

In what was unfortunate and compelling theater, Charlie Beljan blistered the Palm Course for an 8-under-par 31-33=64 in his second round of the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Classic to establish the 36-hole lead at 12-under 132.

When it seemed that no one was going to hit double digits under par -- seven golfers shared the 36-hole clubhouse lead at 9-under 135 before Beljan finished -- the rookie not only set the bar three strokes lower, but he did so under the duress of obvious physical discomfort. Known for dealing with respiratory issues in the past, he plodded his way around the easier of the two tracks, picking up two eagles and six birdies before breaking down in tears as he entered the room to sign his scorecard. Beljan walked with his gaze planted a few feet in front of him and sat down whenever he could. On the 17th hole, when his caddie walked over to assist with a read, Beljan declined, insisting that the goal was merely to finish. He's 139th on the money list, so with this as his last opportunity to earn fully exempt status in 2013, you could understand his grit and determination. It was one of those live-television events from which you couldn't look away, and won't soon forget.

Charlie Beljan turned in a bogey-free, 4-under-par 34-34=68 on the Magnolia Course in his opening round of the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Classic.

The rookie shares low-man honors on the harder of the two tracks in the rotation, but he's three strokes off the pace of the clubhouse co-leaders. He hit 13 greens in regulation and took 27 putts. In addition to a blemish-free card, he enjoyed holing consecutive mid-range birdies at the 18th and first holes. They were among four on the day.

Charlie Beljan has made just eight cuts in 21 starts during his rookie season, but has a chance to retain his PGA TOUR card with a big week at the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Classic.

Beljan begins the week in the 139th spot on the money list, and a tie for third at The Greenbrier Classic is the biggest reason why. His other top 10 fell in his last event, as he was T10 at The McGladrey Classic. He has never made more than two cuts in succession this season, and he’s coming off of back-to-back paydays. If that trend continues, it’s back to Q School for him.

Charlie Beljan turned in a 5-under-par 33-32=65 in the final round of The McGladrey Classic to finish his week on the Seaside Course at 10-under 270.

The rookie landed 15 GIR en route to circling six birdies to just one bogey. While the specifics of his finish aren't yet known, there is little doubt that his final tally is good enough to earn him his second top 25 of the season, and first since his tie for third at The Greenbrier Classic. He entered the week 150th on the money list, so this finish will inch him closer to the top 125 with one tournament remaining.

Charlie Beljan enters The McGladrey Classic 150th on the PGA TOUR money list and looking to finish the season inside the top 125.

While much of the talk this time of year revolves around the top 125, those finishing 126th-150th are exempt into the final stage of Q School and have partial status on the 2013 TOUR, making it critical that he doesn’t give up any ground the last two tournaments at worst. Beljan tied for third at The Greenbrier Classic in July, with his next best finish a T29 at the Travelers Championship. Other than that, he’s made just five cuts in 18 other events, with nothing else better than a T48. The rookie hopes to find some dollars at the Seaside Course on Sea Island.
