Bill Lunde navigated TPC Summerlin in bogey-free 5-under-par 33-33=66 during the third round of the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.
Four of Lunde's five birdies found the bottom of the cup from longer than 10 feet, as he gained well over two strokes with the flat stick. It wasn't just the putter propping him up. He landed 16 GIR as well. As a Web.com Tour graduate subject to the reshuffle, a solid finish on Sunday could do wonders for the number of tournaments he gains entry into the rest of the way. He enters the final round at 11-under 202. Oct 18 - 6:52 PM

Bill Lunde opened the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open with a pair of 3-under-par 68s.

Lunde is fully exempt again (via the Web.com Tour Finals), but he needed a sponsor exemption to compete at TPC Summerlin this week. He lives locally and played collegiately at UNLV. Thus far, he's buried five birdies against two bogeys in each round. Today's set include a pair from 10-13 feet. At 6-under 136, he's three strokes adrift of the 36-hole clubhouse lead. This will go in the books as his first payday on the PGA TOUR since the 2013 Sanderson Farms Championship.

Bill Lunde opens the 2014-15 PGA TOUR season at 41st position in the opening reshuffle.

The Web.com Tour grad will look to rejuvenate his PGA TOUR career this season, but at 41st in the reshuffle, he will need to make the most of early opportunities. Lunde has cuts made in 67 of his 122 career starts, but just 3-of-11 since 2013. At 38 years of age, his prime has past him by, but he could surface from time to time this season as a value play in weekly salary cap formats.
Oct 1 - 9:20 AM

Bill Lunde crafted a 10-under-par 31=30=61 in the second round of the Albertsons Boise Open to join Zack Sucher in the 36-hole lead at 15-under 127.

The highlight of Lunde's round was easily his hole-in-one at the par-3 13th hole at Hillcrest CC. He spread 10 other birdies across his scorecard, suffering two bogeys in the process. While he will be excited about his performance, he will likely look back at the two bogeys and think about the 59 that could have been. At 37th on the Web.com Tour money list, he would move inside the top 10 and secure his 2014-15 PGA TOUR card with a victory this week.
Jul 18 - 9:18 PM

Bill Lunde is the clubhouse leader in the second round of the Pacific Rubiales Colombia Championship following a second-round 3-under-par 35-33=68.

Just like the first round, a severe thunderstorm has washed out play for the remainder of the day. Lunde's 8-under 134 is good for the clubhouse lead, but the morning wave of players hasn't even completed play, and the afternoon threesomes aren't completely out on the course. While a 72-hole Sunday finish remains in the cards, it would seem a stretch for the third round to conclude on Saturday. First-round leader, Justin Thomas, is one behind Lunde with two holes to play in his second round. Play is set to resume at 7:00 a.m. ET on Saturday.
Feb 14 - 4:23 PM

Bill Lunde will kick off his 2013-14 PGA TOUR season at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.

His Las Vegas residence and UNLV roots are likely the reason he picked up a sponsor exemption. He's playing this season with only Past Champion status, so starts are precious to say the least. He finished fifth at TPC Summerlin in 2012 and has posted eight consecutive rounds under par in this event.

Bill Lunde has been removed from the published field of this week's RBC Canadian Open.

An interesting decision to say the least. He's 178th in FedExCup points and not scheduled to play the Boise Open on the Web.com Tour. Possibilities to explain his sudden WD include but are not limited to injury, illness, personal matter, previous corporate commitment and complications crossing the border. In any event, he doesn't have much fantasy value anyway. NOTE: Alexandre Rocha also withdrew as an alternate as he's committed to the Boise Open.

Bill Lunde has been added to the published field of this week's RBC Canadian Open.

Lunde tied for seventh place at the Sanderson Farms Championship, thus earning his way into the field at Glen Abbey via the top 10. Prior to missing the cut at the John Deere, he posted a T17 at the Travelers. Now 178th in FedExCup points, he's all but assured of qualifying for the Web.com Tour Finals. He's 190 points outside the top 125.

Bill Lunde inked a 2-under-par 35-35=70 in the final round of the Sanderson Farms Championship for a 16-under 272.

Lunde circled just three birdies to one bogey in his final trip around Annandale, picking up his first top 10 of the season just two weeks after a T17 at The Greenbrier Classic. His 79.17 percent were among the best in the field, and go a long way towards explaining why he only suffered three bogeys in 72 holes. Had he gotten a little more out of the flat stick, it could have been his second TOUR win and first since the 2010 Turning Stone Resort Championship. This top 10 gives him a spot in the field at the RBC Canadian Open if he so chooses.

Bill Lunde circled just four birdies, but was without a blemish in his 4-under-par 34-34=68 in the third round of the Sanderson Farms Championship.

Lunde has made just one cut on the PGA TOUR in 2013, so this performance was a bit hard to peg. His ball-striking on Saturday afternoon was nearly perfect, landing 17 GIR and splitting 13 (of 14) fairways. His 14-under 202 tally is only three off the lead, so if he can keep up the good work tee to green and make more than his share of putts, he has a chance to claim a victory.

Bill Lunde answered his opening 34-33=67 at the Sanderson Farms Championship with another in his second round.

Lunde may have been pleased when play was suspended on Friday night. He had just bogeyed the par-3 second hole to drop to 1-under through 11 holes. After this morning's restart, he'd pick off four consecutive birdies at holes 5-8 to reach 10-under 134, four strokes adrift of the 36-hole clubhouse lead.

Bill Lunde turned in a 5-under-par 34-33=67 for his opening round of the Sanderson Farms Championship, good for very early possession of the clubhouse lead.

He needs a huge week to make noise in the FedExCup standings in which he ranks 192nd in just eight starts on conditional status. He hit only 12 greens at Annandale Golf Club today, but he converted six birdies to erase one bogey.

Bill Lunde posted a 4-under-par 33-33=66 in the second round of The Greenbrier Classic and is tied for the lead in the clubhouse at 8-under 132.

Lunde circled five birdies to just one bogey on his lap around The Old White TPC, with three of the birdies falling from outside 10 feet. While his putter didn't gain the 5.063 strokes it gained in the first round, it picked up well over a stroke in round two. He also improved his GIR from 13 to 14 and increased his fairways hit from eight to 10 (of 14). His last top 10 on the PGA TOUR was a fifth at the Justin Timberlake in 2012.
Fri, Jul 5, 2013 11:44:00 AM

Bill Lunde posted a solid 4-under-par 31-35=66 in the opener of The Greenbrier Classic.

Lunde opened with a bogey on the par-4 first, then rebounded to circle six birdies on his next 15 holes to just one bogey. Highlighting the round at The Old White TPC was a 37'8" birdie on the par-4 second and a 27'11" birdie on the par-4 ninth. He's bidding to make just his second cut of the year on the PGA TOUR, and the putter is a big reason why his round was a success. He gained just under five strokes relative to the field with the flat stick at the time he signed his card.

Bill Lunde makes his seventh PGA TOUR start of the year at The Greenbrier Classic.

Lunde has only made one cut, sharing 40th at Pebble Beach. He's played The Old White TPC one time, sharing 81st in 2010. It's stating the obvious, but he has a ton of work to do if he hopes to secure a 2013-14 PGA TOUR card.
