Bill Lunde enjoyed a bogey-free, 3-under-par 35-33=68 in his opening round of the Stadion Classic at UGA on the Web.com Tour.
Lunde circled birdies on the 12th, 16th and 18th holes in what was his first competitive action since withdrawing during the second round of the Valero Texas Open on April 5. He has conditional status on the PGA TOUR, which is why he was in our crosshairs today. In fact, he rose to fifth alternate at the Wells Fargo Championship after the last withdrawal on Wednesday. Bill Lunde is listed in the published field of next week's Stadion Classic at UGA on the Web.com Tour.

We last saw Lunde at the Valero Texas Open where he withdrew during his second round due to a stomach-related issue. He climbed to first alternate when the field went final at this week's stop in New Orleans, but was then one of several to withdraw as alternates. The one-time PGA TOUR winner has conditional status on the main circuit. He's cashed in just one of three starts (T40, Pebble Beach).

Bill Lunde withdrew from the Valero Texas Open during his second round due to an issue related to his stomach.

It's unknown if he suffered an injury or picked up an illness. Lunde was 1-over-par through eight holes and had just bogeyed the par-4 17th when he called it quits. He was 8-over through 26. This drops him to 1-for-3 on the season during which he's already limited on playing time due to conditional status.
Apr 5 - 5:35 PM

Bill Lunde carded a 5-under-par 34-33=67 in his opening round of the Puerto Rico Open.

Saddled with conditional status, the one-time PGA TOUR champ is making just his second start of the season ... and he's capitalizing. Lunde sandwiched a bogey at the par-3 11th hole with six birdies to reach the clubhouse two strokes adrift of the early lead.

Bill Lunde owns a previous top 10 at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, and is back for the fifth time in as many years.

Lunde tied for sixth as a rookie in 2009, making Monterey Peninsula an annual pilgrimage. Since then, he's missed two cuts and sprinkled in a T31 in 2011. Given he's playing on conditional status and kicking off his season this week, it's hard to know how the pressure of limited starts and lack of form will play out.

Bill Lunde’s hot Fall Series has him up to 129th on the money list with the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Classic awaiting.

After failing to make the FedExCup Playoffs, Lunde had the entire month of September as a vacation. The rest served him well, as he immediately jumped out of the gates in the Fall Series with a fifth-place finish at the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hopsitals for Children Open, and followed with a T35 at the Frys.com Open and a T20 at The McGladrey Classic. Not in his favor, he missed the cut at Disney last season.

Bill Lunde fired a bogey-free 5-under-par 33-33=66 in the final round of the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, finishing the week in fifth place at 15-under 269.

Lunde would birdie three of TPC Summerlin's four par 3s in a round where he found 15 GIR and needed 28 putts. This is his first top 10 of the season, and it is well timed given he entered the week ranked 157th on the money list. He led the field with 87.5 percent GIR.

Bill Lunde turned in a 4-under-par 34-32=66 for his opening round of the RBC Canadian Open, signing his card sitting three strokes off the clubhouse lead.

Lunde's window of opportunity to retain his playing privileges is gradually closing. He won the final edition of the Turning Stone Resort Championship in 2010, so his two-year exemption expires this season. He's 11-for-18 on the year with just one top 25 (T13, Farmers). In Ontario today, he hit 16 greens in regulation and converted five birdies, the longest of which on his last hole, a roll from 14'4" at No. 9.

Bill Lunde turned in a 5-under-par 33-33=65 for his opening round of the John Deere Classic, finishing two strokes off the clubhouse lead.

Lunde's only top 25 of the year occurred at the Farmers (T13) in late January, but he's fully exempt through this season, so expect to see him often the rest of the way. At TPC Deere Run today, he hit 14 greens and circled seven birdies, including conversions of 17'1", 10'6" and 20'8" at the 10th, 15th and 18th holes, respectively.

Bill Lunde crafted a bogey-free, 4-under-par 32-34=66 in his opening round of the HP Byron Nelson Championship.

It doesn't get any better than starting a tournament by striping a drive 326 yards into the fairway, and then holing out from 101 yards for an eagle-2. That's precisely how Lunde kicked off his third appearance at this tournament. (He's 0-for-2 and hasn't broken 70 in his previous four rounds.) Overall, he split seven (of 14) fairways, hit 15 greens and added a pair of birdies to the highlight-reel start at the 10th hole. His second birdie dropped in from 20'7" at the third hole. He'd sign his card while sitting one back of the clubhouse lead.

Bill Lunde was one of 20 golfers cut after 54 holes of the Shell Houston Open.

The MDF cut was invoked when 90 golfers survived the 36-hole cut. Lunde was cruising along when he carded a quadruple-bogey 9 on the eighth hole -- his penultimate -- of the third round. After short-siding his third into the drink right of the green, his chip also found the water. After a par at the ninth, he signed for an even-par 216, missing the 54-hole cut on the number. Those also failing to advance to the final round were: 216 -- Padraig Harrington, Omar Uresti, Jimmy Walker; 217 -- Kris Blanks, Hunter Haas, Brian Harman, Charley Hoffman, Kyle Stanley; 218 -- Robert Allenby, Chris Stroud; 219 Lucas Glover, William McGirt, Kevin Stadler, Duffy Waldorf; 220 -- Chris DiMarco; 221 -- Daniel Summerhays; 222 -- Ryan Moore; 223 -- Colt Knost; 224 -- Justin Leonard.

The third round of the Wyndham Championship was suspended at 4:01 p.m. ET due to inclement weather. UPDATE: According to the tournament's Twitter page, the restart is scheduled for 5:10 p.m..

This is just your classic, mid-afternoon, pop-up thunderstorm in the South. Players casually exited the course as rain fell on parts of Sedgefield. When play resumes, Bill Lunde will be lining up a birdie putt of 10'5" at the par-4 18th hole to go 9-under for the tournament.
