Frank Lickliter II signed for a 3-over-par 75 following his round at today's open qualifier for the Puerto Rico Open, nine strokes too high to force a playoff for a berth.

Ever since losing his fully exempt status following the 2009 season, FL2 has been a fixture on the four-spotter circuit. The two-time PGA TOUR winner is in no man's land at 43 years of age. Today he erased four birdies at Rio Mar Beach Resort's River Course in Rio Grande with five bogeys and a double. Frank Lickliter II ravaged CordeValle Golf Club in his second round of the Frys.com Open, rattling home nine birdies en route to a 7-under-par 34-30=64.

First, consider that this is Lickliter II's first sub-70 in 18 stroke-play rounds all year. This will also be just his second payday in nine starts, and nothing was going to stand in his way. He hit 14 greens and took a tidy 24 putts. Seven of his birdies measured greater than 10 feet; the most notable dropped in from 33'1" at the third hole, six yards from off the green at 13 and 22'7" at the 18th. At 7-under 135, he's just two strokes adrift of the 36-hole clubhouse lead.

Frank Lickliter II has gained entry into this week's Frys.com. Open.

Lickliter II started the week as the sixth alternate. He earned a tee time when Fredrik Jacobson withdrew and Michael Allen elected not to remain committed as an alternate. FL2's inclusion is reflected only in the live scoring page at PGATOUR.com where he's scheduled to begin on the 10th tee at 12:20 p.m. PT. The veteran has cashed in only one of eight starts this season.

Frank Lickliter II settled for an even-par 35-37=72 at the Bayonet Course at Bayonet and Black Horse in Seaside, Calif. in today's open qualifier for the Frys.com Open, three strokes too high to join a playoff for the final of four berths into the tournament proper.

FL2 neutralized three birdies with three bogeys to finish in a share of 17th place. The two-time PGA TOUR champ has been a popular figure on the open qualifying circuit this year. He survived the four-spotters for the Transitions Championship and Valero Texas Open. Overall, he's 1-for-8 with a T13 at the VTO, and ranks 202nd on the money list. Frank Lickliter II was added to the published field of this week's John Deere Classic.

Lickliter II was the first alternate when the field was released on Friday afternoon. He gained entry when two golfers were removed from the field this morning. His only payday among five starts on the PGA TOUR this year was a T13 at the Valero Texas Open. He's made the cut in his last two appearances at TPC Deere Run but didn't crack the top 30 in either.

Frank Lickliter II shot 1-under-par 34-37=71 at Gillette Ridge Golf Club in Bloomfield, Conn. at today's open qualifier for the Travelers Championship, finishing in 10th place.

Lickliter II has been a somewhat of a fixture on the four-spotter circuit this year. He got through at the Transitions Championship and Valero Texas Open, but his T13 in San Antonio is his only payday in five starts on the PGA TOUR. Frank Lickliter II has been added to the field of this week's FedEx St. Jude Classic.

The PGA TOUR's media department released the information. Lickliter II fell short at the open qualifier on Sunday. He started the week as low as the 13th alternate for the tournament proper until D.A. Points withdrew today. He's competed nine times at TPC Southwind but hasn't cracked the top 70 in his last six appearances. He's 1-for-4 on Past Champion status on the PGA TOUR this year with a T13 at the Valero Texas Open.

Frank Lickliter II spun a brilliant 2-under-par 33-37=70 in the brutal conditions of the second round of the Valero Texas Open.

He is now 3-under 141 for the tournament and has cashed for the first time in four events on the PGA TOUR this year. Lickliter's round saw him land 13 GIR and putt to a 1.615 average, leading to six birdies and four bogeys. He heads into into the third round trailing Ben Curtis by seven strokes.

Frank Lickliter II was among the four to earn an exemption into this week's Valero Texas Open via the Monday qualifier at The Club at Comanche Trace in Kerrville, Texas.

FL2 shot 3-under-par 35-34=69 with five birdies at two bogeys. He and Paul Norris (34-35=69; 1 eagle, 3 birdies, 2 bogeys) survived a 5-man playoff for the final two berths. Will Osborne was the medalist at 6-under 32-34=66 with an eagle and five birdies; he incurred only one bogey during his round. Casey DeVoll circled seven birdies and swallowed two bogeys to finish as the runner-up at 5-under 35-32=67. All but Lickliter II will be making their PGA TOUR debuts on Thursday.

On Monday morning, Frank Lickliter II was added to the field of the Frys.com Open.

Lickliter II started the week as the fifth alternate into this week's field. He has split time between the Nationwide and PGA Tours this season and has been in a slump recently with three missed cuts in a row on the PGA TOUR.

Lickliter II started the week as the first alternate into the Wyndham field. He has made the cut in seven of ten starts on this year's TOUR, but he is in a mini-slump right now with missed cuts in his last two starts.

Frank Lickliter II was added to the published field of this week's RBC Canadian Open.

FL2 was the fourth alternate when the field was released on Friday afternoon. He gained entry when D.J. Trahan withdrew. Lickliter is 6-for-7 on the PGA TOUR this year, including a T44 at the Viking Classic. His lone top 25 occurred at the Waste Management Phoenix Open (T22) in February.
