Shaun Micheel has been added to the published field of this week's HP Byron Nelson Championship.

Micheel was the third alternate when the field was released on Friday afternoon. He gained entry when Scott Verplank withdrew today. Saddled with Past Champion status, Micheel has been limited to six starts this year. He's cashed in five but hasn't posted a top 30. He's 6-for-11 at the HPBNC with a pair of top 25s (2006, 2007).

Shaun Micheel found an under-par score in the early wave of the final round of the RBC Heritage with a 2-under-par 33-36=69.

The former PGA Champion circled five birdies to three bogeys in his final round and finishes the week at 6-over-par 290. The putter was a little bit of a struggle this week, as he needed 29.3 putts per round on the small greens of Harbour Town. He will now travel to San Antonio for the Valero Texas Open.

Shaun Micheel has been added to the published field of this week's Shell Houston Open.

Micheel received the sponsor exemption Scott McCarron forfeited upon withdrawal this morning. Micheel has been loyal to the SHO, competing 13 times, including in the last seven editions. His career-best finish was a solo fifth in 2010. He's 2-for-3 in limited action due to Past Champion status this season, and hasn't posted a top 30.

Shaun Micheel posted a 5-under-par 32-34=66 in the third round of the Transitions Championship to complete his first 54 holes at 7-under 71-69-66=206 and take the lead in the clubhouse.

Micheel has not had a top-10 finish on the PGA TOUR since his fourth place showing at the 2010 John Deere, but has given himself a chance to do so should he post a solid final-round score on Sunday. In the third round, he hit an impressive 16 GIR and rolled a steady 1.688 total putting average. Playing on Past Champion status makes every opportunity to garner a top 10 a precious one.

Shaun Micheel posted a 3-under-par 37-32=69 in the opening round of the Puerto Rico Open and sits two strokes off the clubhouse lead.

Micheel is 4-for-4 at this event with a T21 in the inaugural edition of 2008. After a birdie-double bogey-bogey start today, he played his final 15 holes in bogey-free 5-under. Overall, he hit 13 greens and took 27 putts. This is just his second start of 2012 due to Past Champion status. He missed the cut at the Mayakoba two weeks ago.

Shaun Micheel spun a bogey-free, 4-under-par 32-34=66 in his opening round of the PGA Championship, finishing three strokes adrift of the clubhouse lead.

Some things just can't be explained. Micheel sits 178th in FedExCup points and has just one top 25 all year. He's also dealt with a myriad of injuries, but nothing got in his way today in Georgia. Then again, he's the most recent champion of this event to break through in his first appearance, winning at Oak Hill in 2003. And his second-best career finish anywhere was a solo second at Medinah in the 2006 PGA.

Shaun Micheel settled for a 2-over-par 36-36=72 in his opening round of The Greenbrier Classic.

We're not sure if he's dealing with anything specific right now, but his last two decisions rose a flag that we should monitor until he returns. Of course, he has virtually zero fantasy value, but he's fully exempt on the PGA TOUR and deserves the attention. Micheel hit only 10 greens today and still required 10 putts.

Shaun Micheel is listed in the published field of next week's Greenbrier Classic.

Micheel withdrew during his weather-shortened second round of the Viking Classic a week ago today, but then pulled out early from the field for this week's Canadian Open. He dealt with an inner ear disorder in the spring, but it is not known if he has overcome that problem.

Shaun Micheel was removed from the published field of this week's RBC Canadian Open.

He withdrew with three holes to play in his second round of the Viking Classic when play was suspended for the day on Friday. Micheel has cashed in eight of 19 starts this year, and in only two of his last 10. He has $158K in earnings.

Shaun Micheel withdrew during his second round of the Viking Classic.

Micheel was an aggregate 1-over-par through 33 holes, so he would have needed to do something very special at the end to sniff the chance at making the cut. However, given his laundry list of maladies, we'll stick him on our Injury Report and follow. Assuming he's good to go, look for him at next week's RBC Canadian Open.

Shaun Micheel signed for a 1-under-par 35-36=71 following his opening round of THE PLAYERS.

Micheel pitched in for birdie from 38 yards at the par-4 first hole, and then strung 17 pars together for what is his first round under par since his opening 18 at the Transitions Championship in mid-March -- he carded a 1-under 70 that day -- ending his drought at 14 rounds. Moreover, today's score is impressive given that he's battling an inner ear disorder. Unless rain softens TPC Sawgrass before his second round, he'll likely have a tougher go of it on Friday afternoon.

Shaun Micheel shot a 3-over-par 37-38=75 in his opening round of the Wells Fargo Championship.

GolfChannel.com's Rex Hoggard reported that Micheel has had tubes inserted into his ears to reduce ringing due to endolymphatic hydrops (first reported by GolfDigest.com two weeks ago). Hoggard added that Micheel has had his eardrums pierced twice to drain fluid, but the golfer relayed this morning that there has not been any improvement. He then hit just three (of 14) fairways and eight greens at Quail Hollow. Thinking big picture and worst-case scenario, if Micheel has to sit out, he would likely qualify for a Major Medical Extension, a safety net for which he would have to sit out at least four months to receive. Given what we know today, it's a good idea to consider a replacement if you own him in a long-term format.

Shaun Micheel withdrew during his second round of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

He rinsed his tee ball on the par-3 17th hole before calling it quits. He was an aggregate 3-over through 34 holes, and was going to miss the cut anyway. While we await official word for his decision, GolfDigest.com reported a week ago that Micheel is battling endolymphatic hydrops, which is an inner ear disorder and a form of miniere's disease. It's led to dizziness, headaches and other side effects. "The dizziness is one thing because it's worse when I stand still," he told the website. "So putting, hitting a tee shot, that's a challenge. But the ringing in the ears, that's driving me nuts." If he's able, he'll give it a go at next week's Wells Fargo Championship, where he's listed in the published field.
