Blake Adams missed the cut on the number at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
Grouped in the late-early draw, Adams posted his second-round 66 before the suspension of play on Friday. He reached the midpoint in 4-under 140, which positioned him inside the cut line at the time he shook hands and signed his card. However, as scores went lower, the cut line eventually drifted to 5-under 139. Seventy-one golfers survived, including 23 on the number. So, instead of parlaying last week's T11 at Harbour Town into a fortnight of success, Adams drops to 2-for-7 on the season. This also leaves him with nine starts on his Major Medical Extension to earn $353,666 or 204.237 FedExCup points and retain status. Apr 25 - 11:55 AM

Blake Adams wrapped the RBC Heritage with a 5-under-par 33-33=66 to post 10-under 274 and finish in a four-way share of 11th place.

The Georgia native missed only one of 14 fairways and one regulation in today's finale to post his first top 25 on the PGA TOUR since a T15 at The McGladrey Classic in October of 2012. His previous-best finish occurred two weeks prior with a T8 at the Shriners. With today's effort, Adams collected 63 FedExCup points and $129,800.00. He'll head to the Zurich Classic of New Orleans with 10 starts remaining on his Major Medical Extension to bank 204.237 FedExCup points or $353,666 and retain status. Adams is 1-for-3 at TPC Louisiana with a T26 in 2011. He hasn't appeared in the tournament since 2012.

At 3-under-par 69-72=141, Blake Adams missed the cut at the Shell Houston Open on the number.

If the objective was to find the putting surface at the par-3 ninth hole where he concluded today's round, he succeeded. However, Adams required three whacks from 54'10" to finish. His par try measured 55 inches. So, instead of connecting paydays, he's back on a slide. This leaves him with 11 starts on his Major Medical Extension to bank $483,466 or 267.237 FedExCup points and retain status.
Apr 3 - 8:18 PM

Blake Adams conluded the Valero Texas Open with a 2-over-par 36-38=74 to post 10-over 298, good for a share of 58th place.

It's a baby step, but it's still forward progress. Adams didn't break par in any round, but red numbers came far and few between for most in the field of 144 at TPC San Antonio. It's his first payday in four starts this season. Adams collected $13,578 and 10.5 FedExCup points. He'll try to extend this mild success at the Shell Houston Open where he'll arrive with 12 starts remaining on his Major Medical Extension to earn $483,466 or 267.237 and retain status.

Mar 29 - 6:16 PM

Blake Adams posted 4-over-par 38-38=76 in his opening round of the Valero Texas Open.

Back in play since the West Coast Swing, Adams erased two birdies with four bogeys and a double at TPC San Antonio today. He split eight (of 14) fairways, but hit just six greens in regulation. Despite the carnage, he's in the books at T57 on the leaderboard. Suffice it to say that he benefited from a tee time in the afternoon wave which averaged 74.86 to the early draw's 78.61. Friday's weather will be docile compared to today's. It'll be chilly in the morning, but light and variable winds will be accompanied by sunshine throughout the day.
Mar 26 - 11:01 PM

Blake Adams is included in the published field of next week's Valero Texas Open.

He's been out since missing the cut at Pebble Beach. He then withdrew early at Riviera with a back injury. Adams made news immediately with an opening 64 on Palmer Private in his opening round of the Humana Challenge, only to miss the cut. He's 0-for-3 on the season, but still has 13 starts remaining on his Major Medical Extension to bank $497,044 or 277.737 FedExCup points and retain status. Adams has two paydays in three appearances at TPC San Antonio but not since a T29 in 2012.

Blake Adams withdrew from the Northern Trust Open prior to today's opening round, citing a back injury.

Adams was slated to go off the 10th tee at 11:20 a.m. PT. Instead, he'll keep it parked on 13 starts remaining on his Major Medical Extension to earn $497,044 or 277.737 FedExCup points and retain status. Interestingly, both golfers on MMEs that committed to the tournament withdrew early. Chez Reavie pulled out on Tuesday.

Blake Adams completed 54 holes of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am in even-par 68-75-72=215, missing the cut by six strokes.

Adams' opener was on the host course where he circled five birdies against just one bogey, but he faded from view with over-par scores on the other two tracks where he totaled just 20 greens in regulation. This drops him to 0-for-3 on the season. Adams will head to the Northern Trust Open with 13 starts remaining on his Major Medical Extension to earn $497,044 or 277.737 FedExCup points and retain status.

Feb 15 - 11:46 AM

Blake Adams reached the midpoint of the Farmers Insurance Open in 1-over-par 70-75=145 and will miss the cut.

After outbalancing three bogeys with five birdies on the North Course at Torrey Pines on Thursday, Adams squared five bogeys against just two birdies on the South today. He hit only 11 greens in regulation in the second round. He's now 0-for-2 since returning to competition after having surgery to replace his left hip last summer. He'll head up the coast to compete in the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am with 14 starts remaining on his Major Medical Extension. If he earns $494,044 or 277.737 FedExCup points in those starts, Adams will retain status.
Feb 6 - 7:27 PM

Blake Adams turned in a 3-under-par 35-34=69 at PGA West's Nicklaus Private in today's third round of the Humana Challenge to post 4-under 212, but he will miss the cut by a few strokes.

He landed 13 greens in regulation and converted six birdies today, but also swallowed three bogeys, two of which on par 5s. Even if he'd have gone bogey-free, Adams may have needed a 65 to play on. Despite Friday's 79, it was a step forward in the long-term given the attention he earned right out of the gates with Thursday's 64. When he makes his next start, he'll have 15 starts remaining on his Major Medical Extension to earn $494,044 or 277.737 FedExCup points and retain status. Suffice it to say that he's deserved of a spot in deeper full-season rosters.
Jan 24 - 5:56 PM

Blake Adams followed his magnificent 64 in the opening round of the Humana Challenge with a 7-over-par 40-39=79 in today's second round at La Quinta Country Club.

All that work on Thursday is gone to waste. Adams split 10 (of 14) fairways today, but hit only nine greens in regulation. That imprecision led to six bogeys and a double. His only birdie came at the par-5 11th hole. He's suddenly just 1-under 133 as he gets set to take on Nicklaus Private at PGA West on Saturday. He'll likely need a round like his opener to survive the 54-hole cut.
Jan 23 - 6:17 PM

Blake Adams returned to the PGA TOUR in style, picking off 10 birdies en route to an 8-under-par 31-33=64 at PGA West's Palmer Private in his opening round of the Humana Challenge.

Talk about eliminating all doubt over whether he's ready to go. This marked his first sanctioned action in 10 months and first since having surgery to replace his left hip last summer. Going out in the first group off the 10th tee, Adams promptly birdied the par-5 11th hole with a 15-foot conversion. He connected birdies on holes 14-18, the last two dropping from 13'7" and 14'11", respectively. A sixth consecutive birdie disappeared at the par-4 first before he settled for a par at the par-5 second. Adams circled three more consecutively beginning at No. 5, the last of the string measuring 17'10" at the par-4 seventh. Only Palmer Private is lasered for this tournament, but at the time he signed his card, he led the 52 on the course in strokes gained: putting with a clip just shy of 4.400. He'll tackle La Quinta Country Club in Friday's second round.
Jan 22 - 4:27 PM

Blake Adams is listed in the published field of next week's Humana Challenge.

Given the frequency on Twitter with which he's circled this tournament as his return to competition, he's rarin' to go. Adams hasn't competed since having to withdraw during the 2014 Valspar Championship 10 months ago. He underwent long-awaited surgery to replace his left hip in July. He's expected to come out rusty, but he's also a fine sleeper in season-long salary games. The 39-year-old still has 16 starts on his Major Medical Extension to collect $497,044 or 277.737 FedExCup points and retain status. And despite his limited playing time the last two years, he hasn't missed a Humana Challenge since he was first eligible in 2010. It's a terrific place to work on his game since the courses are pushovers and he's guaranteed 54 holes.

Jan 16 - 7:04 PM

Blake Adams alerted his followers on Twitter as to when he will be back inside the ropes on the PGA TOUR.

Adams wrote, "A new PGA Tour season begins today in CA. I will return in Jan at the Humana. My surgically repaired hip feels great. #ifeel10yrsyounger" The Humana Challenge will be contested Jan. 22-25. He had surgery to replace his left hip in the third week of July. It's great news and the emotional takeaway is not surprising since the 39-year-old has been dealing with a bum hip for a long time. He has 16 starts remaining on his Major Medical Extension to earn $497,044 or 277.737 FedExCup points and retain status.

In a reply to Jarrod Lyle on Twitter today, Blake Adams circled a month for his hopeful return to competition.

Recognizing Lyle's bogey-free opener at the Web.com Tour's Midwest Classic, Adams wrote, "@jarrodlylepga Great playing today. Hope to see ya when I hopefully return to the Tour in January." Given that Adams was scheduled for hip replacement surgery today, January seems like an aggressive time frame, but we'll trust him. Since he'll be getting a late start on the 2014-15 season and already armed with a Major Medical Extension, don't be surprised if he eases his way back just in case he needs to save a start or three for the following season. There's no hurry for him to play sooner than later.
