Joseph Bramlett was added on Tuesday to the field of the Wells Fargo Championship.

He gained entry when Geoff Ogilvy withdrew. Bramlett was the fifth alternate at the start of the week. He also shot a 67 in the Monday qualifier, one stroke too high to earn a spot in the playoff for the final spot. The rookie had a nice opening round of 3-under-par last week at the Zurich Classic, but he was undone over the weekend when he signed for a third-round 77.

Joseph Bramlett turned in a 3-under-par 35-34=69 for his opening round of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

The rookie hit 14 greens and took 29 putts, dropping five birdies during his first-ever competitive loop of TPC Louisiana. He circled five birdies, including conversions of 21'2", 25'10" and 12'1" at the sixth, 12th and 18th holes, respectively. Bramlett was the third from the morning save to sign his card while sitting two strokes off Joe Durant's clubhouse lead.

Joseph Bramlett gained entry into this week's Shell Houston Open when Michael Sim withdrew.

Sim was a late withdrawal, paving the way for Bramlett, who was the first alternate and teed off at 12:10 p.m. CT. The rookie has cashed in three of seven starts, but has finished no better than T65 (Mayakoba).

Joseph Bramlett was awarded a sponsor exemption for this week's Open.

Bramlett was Stanford's team captain in his senior year, which ended this spring. He's competed in just one PGA TOUR event, missing the cut by five at this year's U.S. Open at Pebble Beach.
