Two (of 13) who were stranded due to darkness in Friday's second round of the Valero Texas Open did not return on Saturday morning to complete their respective rounds.
At press time, the count is two players, including Miguel Angel Carballo, who was making his third VTO appearance after posting T46/2014 and T24/2012. He was 3-over on his lap thru 16 holes and 7-over total. With just two holes remaining and the projected cut at even-par 144, the Tour grad chose to pack it in. Joining Carballo was playing competitor Tyler Aldridge, who was 4-over thru 16 and 4-over total. There is no current information suggesting any of these WDs were due to injury. That leaves the third member of the threesome, rookie Abraham Ancer, to finish as a solo, which he did, posting a 36-hole total of 2-under 73-69=142, tied for 30th place. Apr 23 - 9:29 AM

Miguel Angel Carballo is the clubhouse leader in the opening round of the Club Colombia Championship following a 7-under-par 31-33=64.

Carballo began his lap around Bogota Country Club on the back nine, circling five birdies and tacking on four pars. Turning his attention to the back, he bagged three more birdies and dropped his only bogey of the day at the par-3 fifth hole. Play was suspended in the afternoon due to lightening. That meant over half the field didn't complete their opening rounds and 21 players didn't even log a hole. This event has sloshed through rain and bad weather throughout its history, with two of the six editions not making it the scheduled 72 holes, so playing catch up here is nothing new.
Feb 4 - 8:42 PM

Miguel Angel Carballo began his third season on TOUR at 37th in the Tour grad priority rankings and moved to 25th after the first reshuffle with 35 FedExCup points.

The 36-year-old made four starts before the holiday break cashing a T32 at the, missing two cuts, and a WD after 34 holes of the weather-plagued Sanderson Farms, where he was going to miss the cut anyway at 3-over-par. His stats thus far reflect his results ranking 125th in strokes gained: tee-to-green, 160th in strokes gained: putting, and 184th in scoring average (72.506). Carballo's career best on TOUR (40 starts) is a T17 at the opposite-event Barracuda Championship in 2013-14 (Modified Stableford), and a T18 in stroke-play that same season at the Travelers.

Miguel Angel Carballo withdrew from the Sanderson Farms Championship after play was called for the day.

The Argentine was 1-under-par with two holes to play in his second round, but 3-over through 34 holes. He wasn't going to make the cut. This is his second mid-tournament WD in 42 PGA TOUR starts. If there's any good news to not cutting a paycheck, it's that he gets a head start on those committed to next week's OHL Classic at Mayakoba. Carballo is 0-for-2 and has yet to break par at El Camaleón.

Miguel Angel Carballo preps for his third season on the PGA TOUR and slots 37th in the priority rankings.

Carballo is now a three-time Tour grad (2011, 2013, 2015) and subsequently will be marking his third season on the PGA TOUR. Between the 2012 and 2013-14 TOUR seasons, he played in 40 career events and made just 18 cuts, four for top 25s with no top 10s. In his seventh full season on the junior circuit, the 36-year-old finished 16th on the money list in 2015, cashing 15 times on 24 starts with three top 10s, including a pair of runners-up. All three of those top-10 finishes came prior to June however. In his last 15 starts since, he's missed eight cuts and cracked the top 20 once. The Argentine finished 68th at the 2012 (CordeValle GC) in his only other appearance.

Miguel Angel Carballo battled for a 1-over-par 36-37=73 in the third round of the windy Cartagena de Indias at Karibana Championship.

Carballo shares the 54-hole lead with Luke List and Andrew Landry at 8-under 208. His lap around TPC Cartagena was a wild one, featuring six birdies, five bogeys and a double bogey. With wind expected to remain a part of the story throughout the final round, he will need to grind his way through every hole if he hopes to emerge with the victory.

Miguel Angel Carballo wrapped up his second round of the Cartagena de Indias at Karibana Championship on Saturday morning, signing for a 3-under-par 35-34=69.

That places Carballo in the 36-hole lead by two strokes at 9-under 135. His lap around TPC Cartagena featured five birdies and two bogeys, with the rest pars. The second round was suspended on Friday afternoon due to high winds, so it could be said that the late-early draw received the advantage of having a Saturday morning finish in much calmer conditions.

Miguel Angel Carballo will have his first look at Royal Montreal Golf Club’s Blue Course at this week's RBC Canadian Open.

Carballo hasn't been able to build any momentum from the three-eagle Sunday at the Travelers Championship, missing cuts in both events since his round of 63. Sitting in 191st in the FedExCup standings, time is running out for the Argentine to make his playoff push. His lone appearance at the Canadian Open came in 2012 where he produced a T42 finish.

Miguel Angel Carballo ransacked TPC River Highlands to the tune of 7-under-par 33-30=63, good enough for 9-under 271 and possession of the early clubhouse lead.

Carballo's wrist may be tired from circling so many numbers today. His round included three eagles and three birdies. The first eagle came on the par-5 sixth where he stuck his approach shot to 8'3", rolling in from there. The second was a 20-yard hole out from off the green at the par-5 13th. His final eagle came on the driveable par-4 15th where the Argentine dropped his drive to 14'4" and had no problems knocking it in. He shot bogey-free 66 with zero birdies. This goes in the books as the low round of the day and his career low on the PGA TOUR. Carballo is the second this season to record three eagles in one round. Jim Herman turned the trick at Torrey Pines North in the first round of the Farmers Insurance Open. All of Herman's occurred on par 5s.

Miguel Angel Carballo carded a 2-under-par 35-33=68 in his opening round of the FedEx St. Jude Classic.

Carballo has done virtually nothing in his return to the PGA TOUR this season. He arrived in Memphis just 2-for-8 with no top 45s and 220th in the FedExCup standings. If you needed further proof that today's effort was outside the box, consider that he's never scored lower in an opening round. It's the fourth time in 34 starts that he's come out of the gates with a 68. He went 6-for-8 in scrambling and circled four birdies today, including rolls from 30'2", 15'6" and 13'7" at Nos. 6, 13 and 18, respectively. The Argentine's longest conversion of the day, however, disappeared for par from 40-and-a-half feet at the par-4 12th where he landed his approach in a greenside bunker. Carballo signed his card sitting three strokes off the clubhouse lead and with a strokes gained-putting clip just north of 3.000.

Miguel Angel Carballo is back for his second try at TPC Four Seasons in this week's HP Byron Nelson Championship.

The Argentine has earned just 21 FedExCup points in seven starts this season, good for 220th in the standings. The two-time champion is still looking for his first top 10 on the PGA TOUR.

Miguel Angel Carballo authored a 3-under-par 34-35=69 in his opening round of the Valero Texas Open finishing two strokes off the 18-hole lead.

Carballo is in desperate need of a spark. He's in the bowels of the Tour reshuffle due to only one payday in five starts. His opener at TPC San Antonio was split into two days due to Thursday's fog delay and ultimate suspension for darkness, yet he pieced together five birdies, including a six-yarder from the fringe at the second hole. His longest conversions on the putting surfaces measured 16 feet and 10'11" at the 14th and third holes, respectively. But the Argentine walked off the course with a par save from 19'11" at the par-4 ninth to secure just his second sub-70 of the season.

Miguel Angel Carballo has been added to the published field of this week's Valero Texas Open.

Carballo was the second alternate when the field was released on Friday afternoon. He gained entry following numerous withdrawals today. The Argentine has survived only one of five cuts this season, and that resulted in a T72/MDF at the Sony Open. Perhaps TPC San Antonio will provide the elixir he needs as his T24 at the 2012 VTO remains a career-best finish in 30 starts.

Miguel Angel Carballo spent 2013 on the Tour after failing to retain his PGA TOUR card in his rookie year of 2012, but is back for another shot of glory in 2013-14.

Carballo tied for second at the 2013 News Sentinel Open, and then shared 12th in the Cox Classic to end the Tour regular season inside the top 25, thus securing his 2013-14 card. His first lap around the TOUR saw him survive 13 cuts in 25 starts, but he was unable to finish inside the top 20 in any event. He gained entry into only one PGA TOUR event in the new season to date, missing the cut in the OHL Classic at Mayakoba.
Fri, Dec 20, 2013 08:05:00 PM

Miguel Angel Carballo begins his 2013-14 campaign at the OHL Classic at Mayakoba.

The Argentine was fortunate enough to receive a sponsor exemption into this week's festivities after regaining his TOUR card by way of the 2013 Tour. A poor series of tournaments in the Tour Finals has seriously hindered his ability to get into early tournaments, so it's critical that he make the most of this opportunity. With the first reshuffle coming after this week, even just making the cut would improve his number.
