Bob Tway has been removed from the published field of next week's PGA Championship.
No word on why Tway pulled out. It marks the first time since he won in his first appearance in 1986 that he won't tee it up in the major. His victory at Inverness is his only top 10 in 24 starts in the tournament. Thu, Aug 5, 2010 02:59:00 PM

Bob Tway carded a 2-under-par 35-35=70 in his opening round of the U.S. Senior Open.

Tway pulled out after six holes of last week's Canadian Open for personal reasons. The 1986 PGA champion has bridged his time between the PGA and Champions Tours since turning 50 on May 4, so he isn't off our radar just yet even though his results don't warrant any fantasy action. He drained four birdies at Crooked Stick and is in good position to make a run at his first title on the 50-and-older circuit, sitting four strokes off the 18-hole lead.

Tway cited personal reasons as his explanation for withdrawing after six holes of this week's Canadian Open. He's a past champion with conditional status on the PGA Tour, so he has marginal fantasy value.
