Donald Constable signed for a pair of 2-over-par 72s at the Wyndham Championship and missed the cut by five strokes.
Even bettors that only hedge can't feel good to a man about a PGA TOUR rookie going all 16 of his starts without a payday. The lefty broke 70 in only five of his 31 stroke-play rounds. While critics of the new qualifying process will cite that the long-shot stories will disappear, guys like Constable who find a groove at the right time and climb through the ranks during the old version of Q School won't taint the talent pool in the future, at least in theory. Donald Constable smoothed a 5-under-par 37-30=67 in his opening round of the Sanderson Farms Championship.

If that score looks familiar, it's because he started last week's John Deere Classic with the same before missing the cut by two after a second-round 73. The lefty started today's loop of Annandale Golf Club in birdie-free 2-over after eight holes. He then circled birdies on eight of his next nine holes before squaring a bogey at the par-4 ninth to conclude his round. He signed his card sitting four strokes off the clubhouse lead.

In the last threesome off the first tee in today's opening round of the John Deere Classic, Donald Constable posted a 4-under-par 32-35=67.

The lefty has yet to cash in 11 starts in his rookie season, but today's career low gives him the best opportunity. He split 12 (of 14) fairways and hit 13 greens in regulation en route to six birdies against a double bogey. His set of par breakers included four consecutively beginning with hole-outs from off the greens at 5 (eight yards) and 6 (six yards). He chased those two with a traditional conversion from 18'8" at No. 7 and finish three strokes back of the overnight co-leaders. Constable has filled his schedule with four starts on the Web.com Tour, but survived only one cut, that a T43 at the Mid-Atlantic Championship in early June.

Donald Constable is set to tee it up at The Greenbrier Classic for the first time.

It's been a rocky ride for the rookie via the 2012 Q School. In 10 attempts, he has yet to make a cut. The only time he's cracked 70 was at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans with a second-round 4-under-par 68.

The left-handed rookie started the week as the 11th alternate. He gained entry when Retief Goosen withdrew today. Constable is the last golfer from the graduate reshuffle to climb into the field. He's 0-for-6 and has missed his cuts by an aggregate of 21 strokes.

Donald Constable is still searching for his first weekend tee time on the PGA TOUR as he makes his way to the Valero Texas Open.

It’s always a challenge for a rookie to pick up starts, and Constable hasn’t been immune. He’s only scored four chances, the most recent in Puerto Rico, but hasn’t done much to help himself out. He dropped down to the Web.com Tour to play in Colombia, failing to cash there as well.

Donald Constable signed for a 4-under-par 67 following his round at Mayacoo Lakes Country Club in West Palm Beach, Fla. in today's open qualifier for The Honda Classic, one stroke too high to force a playoff for a berth.

The left-handed PGA TOUR rookie went 0-for-3 on the West Coast Swing, so it would have been a coup to crack the field of 144 at PGA National this week. He wasn't alone among notables that also failed to qualify: 67--Richard S. Johnson; Shane Lowry; Si Woo Kim; David Bradshaw ... 68--Michael Letzig; Tim Petrovic ... 69--Jin Park; Eric Meierdierks; Marc Turnesa; Marcus Fraser; Bubba Dickerson; Kelly Kraft ... 70--Justin Bolli; Jim Herman; Billy Mayfair; Nick O'Hern; Robert Gamez; Brett Wetterich; Kent Jones; Robert Damron; Brad Adamonis ... 71--Aaron Watkins; Andres Gonzales; Jeff Gove; Mark Calcavecchia; P.H. Horgan III ... 72--Frank Lickliter II; Ted Purdy; Jon Mills ... 73--Billy Andrade; Eric Axley; Sonny Skinner; Tim Wilkinson ... 74--Steve LeBrun; Marcel Siem; Mathias Grönberg ... 76--Robert Kalrsson; Paul Haley II ... 77--Lee Janzen; Lion Kim.

Donald Constable will make his PGA TOUR debut at the Sony Open.

The University of Minnesota product is still wet behind the ears in playing for pay, as he competed in the 2012 U.S. Amateur. In terms of statistics, he is a virtual unkown. Monitor him closely early in the year to see how trends develop.
