The two-time U.S. Open champion's drought in the tournament will end at six years. Janzen opened with three birdies against one bogey on Century Country Club today. He traded five birdies with three bogeys on Old Oaks CC in the nightcap. The 50-year-old first competed in the tournament in 1985. Lee Janzen completed the Puerto Rico Open in 4-under-par 72-71-72-69=284 and will finish comfortably inside the top 25.

Janzen has a new lease on his career after turning 50 last August. He parlayed eligibility into his first title on the Champions Tour just three weeks ago. Janzen extended that form in Puerto Rico where he missed 28 greens in regulation, but squared only seven bogeys. This is his first top 25 on the PGA TOUR since a T8 at the 2012 Barracuda Championship. He went 8-for-24 in the interim.

Lee Janzen gears up for his seventh start at this week's Puerto Rico Open.

Janzen will utilize his Past Champion status this week to play at Trump International Golf Club-Puerto Rico. He is 5-for-6 at the event, including a T13 finish in 2009. Janzen spends most of his time on the Champions Tour and even won his last start there at the ACE Group Classic. Whether that win will translate over to the PGA TOUR remains to be seen but he will surely be playing with confidence this week.

Lee Janzen is set to begin his 2014-15 PGA TOUR season at the Sanderson Farms Championship.

Janzen reached the magic age of 50 last season, and teed it up in six Champions Tour events. It remains to be seen how often he will utilize his Past Champion status on the PGA TOUR in 2014-15 versus doing time on the senior circuit. Some of that could be determined by how well he competes with the flat bellies at the Country Club of Jackson this week.

Lee Janzen has been added to the published field of this week's Wyndham Championship.

Janzen was the eighth alternate when the field was released on Friday. He gained entry when fifth alternate Chris Smith withdrew. Janzen is not expected to WD from the Wyndham because he was removed from the published field of the News Sentinel Open on the Web.com Tour where Smith will compete. Janzen's T27 in Reno two weeks ago was his best finish on the PGA TOUR since a T8 at the 2012 John Deere Classic. He's 220th in the FedExCup standings, so a reasonable goal would be to crack the top 200 and try his luck in the Web.com Tour Finals.

Lee Janzen gathered up 13 points in his third round of the Barracuda Championship to join John Mallinger in the clubhouse lead with 28 points.

When the wheels touched down in Reno, Nevada, Janzen began searching for his first PGA TOUR win since the 1998 U.S. Open. With seven birdies and just one birdie in his third lap around Montrêux G&CC, it just might be in the cards with another hot round on Sunday. While he only landed 11 GIR, he gained just shy of three strokes with the putter. A 26'7" birdie at the par-5 second and a 13-footer at the par-4 15th served as the highlights.

Lee Janzen has been added to the published field of this week's John Deere Classic.

Janzen was the second alternate when the field was released on Friday afternoon. He gained entry due to several withdrawals. While just 3-for-5 this season with zero top 55-finishes, perhaps TPC Deere Run will provide a spark. He's cashed in each of his last five appearances, including a T8 in 2012. It's his only top 15 on the PGA TOUR in the last four seasons.

Lee Janzen has secured a sponsor exemption into the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

The two-time U.S. Open winner now competes out of the Past Champion category, so any start is precious. This marks his 20th start at Bay Hill. While he’s made 13 cuts, he’s only managed one top 10. That came in 2001 when Janzen tied for eighth. He’s made two of his three cuts in 2013-14, with a T64 at Pebble Beach his best result.

Lee Janzen returns for his 18th edition of the Humana Challenge.

Playing with past champion status in 2013-14 and turning 50 in August could mean we are witnessing some of Janzen's final PGA TOUR events. In 11 starts in 2013, he secured just two cuts and netted $25,482. Keep the expectations low, as he hasn't secured a top-25 finish here since 1997.

Lee Janzen has been added to the published field of this week's HP Byron Nelson Championship.

Janzen started the week as the third alternate. He gained entry this morning when Jonas Blixt withdrew. The veteran is 2-for-6 on Past Champion status this season, but hasn't cracked a top 60. His last top-65 finish at the Nelson was back in 2003 (T14) when Cottonwood Valley was still co-hosting. He's competed in 12 previous editions dating back to 1990.

With a 7-under-par 33-32=65 at LaTour Golf Club in Mathews, La., Lee Janzen shared third place in today's open qualifier for the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, good for a berth into the tournament proper.

Janzen converted 10 birdies against one bogey and an opening double to secure his sixth start on the PGA TOUR this season. He's 2-for-5 with zero top 60s thus far. Zack Fischer also carded a 65, going bogey-free 33-32 with seven birdies. It's Fischer's second consecutive successful bid in a four-spotter (missed cut; Valero Texas Open). Ken Looper was the medalist at bogey-free, 10-under 30-32=62. He rolled in 10 birdies and will be making his PGA TOUR debut on Thursday. Matt Fast served as the runner-up at the OQ at 9-under 34-29=63. He finished on the front side and closed bogey-free 7-under with two eagles and three birdies on his last seven holes. Fast is 0-for-2 on the PGA TOUR, a slate that includes a missed cut at the 2010 Zurich. The field for this week's edition is now complete at 156.

Lee Janzen answered his opening 70 at the Valero Texas Open with a 3-under-par 36-33=69 to reach the halfway mark in 5-under 139, three strokes clear of the 36-hole lead.

Janzen gained ground today, hitting 13 greens in regulation and rolling in five birdies against two bogeys. His most notable par breakers measured 15 feet at the second hole and 10 feet at 17, but his longest conversion of the round was a par save of 17'2" at the par-3 13th where his tee ball landed nearly 50 yards right of the target.

Lee Janzen carded a 2-under-par 33-37=70 in his opening round of the Valero Texas Open, finishing two strokes off the clubhouse lead.

This was nearly a brilliant round of golf by Janzen. He hit only 10 greens in regulation but limited the blemishes to a lone double bogey at the par-4 sixth hole. He also converted four birdies, including rolls from 10'8" and 25'4" at 10 and 17, respectively. The highlight was a 14-yard pitch-in for birdie from the rough at the par-4 fourth, but he also poured in a par save measuring 23'5" at 15. Pure and simple, he cannot expect another red number on Friday if he doesn't increase his GIR.

Lee Janzen has been added to the published field of this week's Valero Texas Open.

Janzen was the fifth alternate when the field was released on Friday afternoon. He climbed in due to quite a few withdrawals today. He's just 1-for-4 on Past Champions status this year (T69, API). The 48-year-old has no fantasy value.
