Cameron Beckman shot a 2-under-par 34-34=68 in his opening round of the Travelers Championship.
We never learned why he called it quits halfway into his second round in Memphis two weeks ago, but his owners will appreciate today's rapid recovery. Beckman hit 12 greens and circled five birdies against three bogeys at TPC River Highlands. His par breakers included a five-yard hole-out from the rough five yards away at the sixth hole and conventional conversions of 11'6" and 17 feet at Nos. 3 and 17, respectively. He's six strokes off the clubhouse lead. Jun 19 - 4:40 PM

Cameron Beckman has been added to the published field of this week's Travelers Championship.

Beckman was the fourth alternate when the field was released on Friday afternoon. He gained entry when David Toms withdrew. Beckman withdrew midway through his second round of the St. Jude two weeks ago, but an explanation wasn't made available. Always capable of a shocking success, he's 6-for-10 at TPC River Highlands, but hasn't cashed since 2007 (T61) and has never cracked the top 30. Zero top 35s among three paydays in seven starts this season on Past Champion status.

Cameron Beckman withdrew from the FedEx St. Jude Classic during his second round.

Beckman went off the 10th tee and submitted a 2-over-par 37 on his opening nine before calling it quits. With a 6-over 76 already on the board, he was 8-over through 27 holes and in serious jeopardy of having the weekend off anyway. This drops him to 3-for-7 on the season and still without a top 35. He arrived in Memphis ranked 193rd in FedExCup points. It an explanation is released for today's decision, we will relay it to you. Beckman did not qualify for the U.S. Open.

Cameron Beckman has been added to the published field of this week's FedEx St. Jude Classic.

He started the week as the 10th alternate, but snuck into the field of 156 when Seung-yul Noh withdrew today. Beckman has teed it up in each of the last 15 editions of the SJC, but he's missed nine cuts and fared no better than T29 in 2009. Saddled with Past Champion status this season, he's 3-for-6 with no top 35s. There are times when he makes sense at the back end of DFS rosters, but this isn't one of them.

Cameron Beckman has been added to the published field of this week's Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

Beckman started the week as the 10th alternate and rose to No. 3 on Wednesday, but gained entry when Charlie Beljan withdrew and the first two alternates weren't on site to accept the berth. (First-alternate Ben Kohles is in the field at the WNB Golf Classic on the Web.com Tour. Jason Gore was second alternate and not playing the WNB.) This is Beckman's fourth start of the season. He's cashed thrice but hasn't posted a top 35. Meanwhile, fog delayed the first round by 20 minutes. As a result, the first ball wasn't aloft until 7:20 a.m. CT.

Cameron Beckman somehow posted a 2-under-par 37-33=70 in his second round of the Valero Texas Open despite hitting only seven greens in regulation.

Talk about squeezing every ounce of scoring from a round. He suffered only one bogey while finding three late birdies, including a conversion from 17'7" at the par-3 16th hole. He maintained momentum with par saves of 14'8" and 12 feet at Nos. 10 and 15, respectively. Beckman reached the break in 5-under 139, but can't expect another performance like this tomorrow if his irons don't catch fire. He's currently two strokes off the 36-hole clubhouse lead.
Mar 28 - 3:22 PM

Cameron Beckman is one stroke off the clubhouse lead after a 3-under-par 33-36=69 in his opening round of the Valero Texas Open.

This is Beckman's 19th appearance in the tournament and 18th consecutive. He lives in San Antonio, but has plucked only two top 25s in the event. He's 1-for-4 at TPC San Antonio with a T63 in 2012 and earned a spot in this week's field on a sponsor exemption. He certainly made the most of it by burying six birdies, including beauts from 20'1" and 42'1" at Nos. 18 and 9, respectively. Three bogeys tainted the walk, but he's in prime position to ring up his third straight payday of the season in what is just his fourth start due to Past Champion status.
Mar 27 - 9:06 PM

Cameron Beckman opened the Puerto Rico Open with a 3-under-par 35-34=69.

He's stuck with Past Champion status this season, but we've seen him surprise before. The three-time PGA TOUR winner lost in a playoff at the Sanderson Farms Championship last July. Today he lassoed six birdies to help ease the sting of one bogey and a double. Beckman sits three strokes off the clubhouse lead.
Mar 6 - 11:48 AM

Cameron Beckman returns to one of his favorite spots on the PGA TOUR for the OHL Classic at Mayakoba.

Beckman is the answer to a trivia question this week. The past winner at El Camaleón owns the record for most money earned in the tournament, with $927,583 for his efforts. That stands an excellent chance of changing hands this week, seeing that the winner gets $1,080,000 due to the schedule change and importance of the Fall Series.

Cameron Beckman has been added to the published field of this week's Reno-Tahoe Open.

Beckman was one of three alternates to gain entry during the first wave of withdrawals today. After losing in a playoff in Mississippi two weeks ago, he tied for 52nd in Canada on Sunday and sits 172nd in FedExCup points.

Cameron Beckman has been added to the published field of this week's RBC Canadian Open.

Beckman secured the top-10 exemption with his playoff loss at the Sanderson Farms Championship where he's now 13-for-13. It was his first payday in six starts this season, so he's just 176th in FedExCup points.

Cameron Beckman signed for a 5-under-par 34-33=67 in the final round of the Sanderson Farms Championship to finish his week at 20-under 268, but fell to Woody Austin in a playoff that also included Daniel Summerhays.

What's ironic is that Beckman and Austin have each failed to cash a check on the PGA TOUR in 2013, and even with a win they would both still be outside the top 125 in FedExCup points and needing work to secure a tee time at The Barclays. Beckman circled six birdies to just one bogey in his final lap around Annandale. A three-time winner on the PGA TOUR, including hoisting his first trophy here in 2001, he's spent the majority of his season on the Web.com Tour in 2013.

Cameron Beckman signed for a bogey-free 7-under-par 32-33=65 in the third round of the Sanderson Farms Championship and trails the lead by two entering the final round.

Beckman was off to a hot start at Annandale GC, circling four birdies on his first six holes. He would scatter in three more over the final 12 due in large part to his ball-striking. He split 12 (of 14) fairways and landed 16 GIR while also gaining over two strokes with the flat stick. With splits like that it's hard to believe he hasn't even sniffed a paycheck in five starts on the PGA TOUR this season.

Cameron Beckman thrashed Annandale Golf Club for an 8-under-par 30-34=64 in his second round of the Sanderson Farms Championship.

He hit 15 greens in regulation today and holed nine birdies to post 8-under 136 and finish two strokes off the 36-hole clubhouse lead. The weekend could turn his year around as he hadn't cashed in his first five starts and was buried in the Beyond 150 Reshuffle.

Cameron Beckman has been added to the published field of this week's FedEx St. Jude Classic.

Beckman was the sixth alternate when the field was released on Friday afternoon. He earned his spot in the field of 156 after four withdrew from the original field and two alternates pulled out. He hasn't cashed in four starts this year. Perhaps TPC Southwind will offer a comfort zone. He's played in each of the last 14 editions.
