Chang-woo Lee recorded a three-stroke victory at the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship at Nanshan International Golf Club in Longkou, China.
The 19-year-old South Korean posted 3-under-par 70-72-69-70=281 (meaning he was the only golfer in red numbers) to claim the fifth edition of the tournament. Japan's Shohei Hasegawa finished alone in second place. At 31st in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, Lee was easily his country's highest-ranked amateur. He won an event on the Korean Golf Tour in September, and then shared second place (with Rory McIlroy and three others) at last week's Korea Open. In addition to the acclaim and prestige of winning today, among his spoils is an invitation into the 2014 Masters where last year's APA champion Guan Tianlang survived the cut despite incurring a penalty for slow play this past April. In his title defense, Tianlang tied for eighth today at 5-over 289. Sun, Oct 27, 2013 05:56:00 AM
