Woody Austin has withdrawn from this week's Wells Fargo Championship.
The 51-year-old will instead peg it at the Regions Tradition on the Champions Tour. He's only 2-for-11 on the PGA TOUR this season in what is the final year of his exemption for winning in Mississippi in 2013. Meanwhile, he's logged top 10s in both of his starts on the senior circuit where he ranks 32nd in the Charles Schwab Cup standings. Mon, May 11, 2015 11:37:00 AM

Woody Austin makes 10th start at Shell Houston Open.

After his last missed cut at the Valspar Championship, Austin is now 0-for-6 on the season. The 51-year-old has not recorded a top-10 finish since his win at the 2013 Sanderson Farms Championship, a span of 34 events. His fantasy value this week remains in the cellar as overall, he's 5-for-9 at SHO with no top 10s and although 2-for-3 since the move to GC of Houston's Tournament Course, his best finish was a T42 in 2007.

Woody Austin continues his 2014-15 PGA TOUR season in this week's Northern Trust Open.

At 207th in the FedExCup standings, it's safe to say that Austin stands very little chance of factoring into the equation at Riviera Country Club. He's made just five of 15 cuts in this event, with a T30 in 2009 his best effort. He continues to play out the final year of his exemption from winning the 2013 Sanderson Farms Championshp, but he's doing so rather quietly.

Woody Austin returns to the Humana Challenge for the first time since 2010.

Austin is exempt on the PGA TOUR through the 2014-15 season, while also holding status as a member of the Champions Tour. With the exception of a T11 in the 1997 edition of this tournament, the veteran has not had the best of luck in this event. In 11 total starts, his second-best finish was a T42 in 2009. Needless to say, he's probably not even worth a flier.

Woody Austin dipped his toes in the sand during the Fall Series, entering the holiday break ranked 183rd in the FedExCup standings.

Austin is still reaping the rewards of his 2013 Sanderson Farms Championship victory, as it was the conduit in which earned him A 2014-15 TOUR card. The 50-year-old veteran didn't fare as well this time around at the Sanderson Farms, yielding a T43 during the fall. His only other Fall Series start resulted in a missed cut. We saw Austin take advantage of his Champions Tour eligibility last year, throwing out six top 10s in eight Champions Tour starts. Gamers should expect a similar output this year, but can avoid him most weeks on the PGA TOUR.

Woody Austin opened his title defense of the Sanderson Farms Championship with a 2-under-par 34-36=70.

Austin is in the unique position as the reigning champion of a tournament played on a different track and two seasons later. Nevertheless, he erased a pair of bogeys mid-round with two birdies on either side to settle five strokes off the clubhouse lead. Austin split 10 (of 14) fairways and hit 13 greens in regulation at the Country Club of Jackson. He tied for 12th in his debut at the Schwab Cup Championship on the Champions Tour last week.

Woody Austin makes his way to Jackson, Mississippi to defend his title at the Sanderson Farms Championship.

Austin was a surprise winner of that event, playing with only Past Champions status at the time of his victory. This marks the first occasion where the tournament will be contested at the Country Club of Jackson, meaning familiarity will not be on his side. He missed the cut at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in his only PGA TOUR start of the season.

Woody Austin begins his 2014-15 PGA TOUR season at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.

The veteran is no stranger to TPC Summerlin, having played in this event 16 times in the past. Las Vegas hasn't been all aces, as his T6 in 2003 stands as his only top-20 finish. Considering his only top-25 finish of last season came at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions, with just 30 players in the field, there is no reason to invest in him in any format this week.

Woody Austin added a 3-under-par 35-34=69 worth eight points in his second round of the Barracuda Championship.

Austin hit only 11 greens in regulation, but limited the damage to two bogeys while picking off five birdies. He essentially retain his position on the leaderboard on which he has 19 points, seven back of the 36-hole lead.

Woody Austin gathered 11 points in his opening round of the Barracuda Championship, finishing five points back of the clubhouse co-leaders.

He missed only two (of 14) fairways and two greens in regulation at Montrêux today, picking off six birdies against one bogey en route to a 5-under 34-33=67. Austin entered the week sitting 167th in the FedExCup standings, but he's fully exempt through next season by virtue of his win at the 2013 Sanderson Farms Championship. He's yet to add a top 10 on the PGA TOUR since, but tied for third in his Champions Tour debut at the U.S. Senior Open Championship three weeks ago.

Woody Austin finished with a share of 4th place at The Greenbrier Classic in 2010 and is back for another shot this week.

Austin hasn't found that same spark, with two missed cuts here as a follow-up to the top-5 finish in 2010. Needing to go low this week, it's important to note he hasn't signed for back-to-back rounds in the 60s since his win in last year's Sanderson Farms Championship. This week will mark the 20th start of the season for Austin, and he currently sits outside the FedExCup playoff bubble in 167th place.

Woody Austin carded a 2-under-par 33-35=68 in his opening round of the FedEx St. Jude Classic, finishing two strokes off the clubhouse lead.

The 50-year-old has little if any fantasy value, but he won the third of his four PGA TOUR events at TPC Southwind in 2007, so it makes some sense why he played well today. Still, this equals his lowest opening score of the season (McGladrey Classic). He hit 13 greens and circled five birdies, four of which from outside 10 feet. The set included conversions of 25'6" and 22'8" at NOs. 14 and 9, respectively. However, because he two-putted thrice from inside nine feet, his strokes gained-putting split sat at 0.428 when play was suspended at 1:15 p.m. CT.

Woody Austin is giving it a go at this week's Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial after a three-year recess.

It's been all or nothing for Austin at Colonial, with a 5-for-10 record that includes four top 20s. His last trip here was in 2010 and he failed to play the weekend. The aging curve has taken it's toll on Austin since that visit and he enters the week missing four of his last five cuts.

Woody Austin returns to Hilton Head Island after a three year absence for this week's RBC Heritage.

Harbour Town Golf Links certainly fits his eye, proven by his eight finishes of 32nd or better in his last nine attempts. With that kind of track record, it will not be a surprise if Austin finds a way to get into the mix this week.

Woody Austin returns to Bay Hill for the Arnold Palmer Invitational for the first time since 2009.

He’s had his share of success here, making nine of 11 cuts and tying for 17th here as recently as 2008. It’s no secret that Austin is in the twilight of his PGA TOUR career. He’s been right on par with expectations to this point in the 2013-14 season, making four cuts in nine events with a T13 at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions his only thing better than a T40.
