Woody Austin gathered 11 points in his opening round of the Barracuda Championship, finishing five points back of the clubhouse co-leaders.

He missed only two (of 14) fairways and two greens in regulation at Montrêux today, picking off six birdies against one bogey en route to a 5-under 34-33=67. Austin entered the week sitting 167th in the FedExCup standings, but he's fully exempt through next season by virtue of his win at the 2013 Sanderson Farms Championship. He's yet to add a top 10 on the PGA TOUR since, but tied for third in his Champions Tour debut at the U.S. Senior Open Championship three weeks ago.

Woody Austin finished with a share of 4th place at The Greenbrier Classic in 2010 and is back for another shot this week.

Austin hasn't found that same spark, with two missed cuts here as a follow-up to the top-5 finish in 2010. Needing to go low this week, it's important to note he hasn't signed for back-to-back rounds in the 60s since his win in last year's Sanderson Farms Championship. This week will mark the 20th start of the season for Austin, and he currently sits outside the FedExCup playoff bubble in 167th place.

Woody Austin carded a 2-under-par 33-35=68 in his opening round of the FedEx St. Jude Classic, finishing two strokes off the clubhouse lead.

The 50-year-old has little if any fantasy value, but he won the third of his four PGA TOUR events at TPC Southwind in 2007, so it makes some sense why he played well today. Still, this equals his lowest opening score of the season (McGladrey Classic). He hit 13 greens and circled five birdies, four of which from outside 10 feet. The set included conversions of 25'6" and 22'8" at NOs. 14 and 9, respectively. However, because he two-putted thrice from inside nine feet, his strokes gained-putting split sat at 0.428 when play was suspended at 1:15 p.m. CT.

Woody Austin is giving it a go at this week's Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial after a three-year recess.

It's been all or nothing for Austin at Colonial, with a 5-for-10 record that includes four top 20s. His last trip here was in 2010 and he failed to play the weekend. The aging curve has taken it's toll on Austin since that visit and he enters the week missing four of his last five cuts.

Woody Austin returns to Hilton Head Island after a three year absence for this week's RBC Heritage.

Harbour Town Golf Links certainly fits his eye, proven by his eight finishes of 32nd or better in his last nine attempts. With that kind of track record, it will not be a surprise if Austin finds a way to get into the mix this week.

Woody Austin returns to Bay Hill for the Arnold Palmer Invitational for the first time since 2009.

He’s had his share of success here, making nine of 11 cuts and tying for 17th here as recently as 2008. It’s no secret that Austin is in the twilight of his PGA TOUR career. He’s been right on par with expectations to this point in the 2013-14 season, making four cuts in nine events with a T13 at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions his only thing better than a T40.

Woody Austin has been added to the published field of this week's AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.

Austin was a late entry into the event. He's missed the cut in his last two starts, including by five at the WM Phoenix Open, but the odds are against a rebound on the Monterey Peninsula where he's riding an 0-for-5 skid dating back to 2005.

Woody Austin is set to make his fourth start in the Hyundai Tournament of Champions this week.

Austin's best finish in the event was a 12th in 2005. The veteran spent much of 2013 on the Web.com Tour, but took advantage of his past champion status to win the Sanderson Farms Championship opposite The Open Championship. He will turn 50 on January 27th of this year, allowing him the comfort of playing on both the PGA TOUR and the Champions Tour for the next two seasons. He should not be considered among the better options on the Plantation Course this week.

Woody Austin returns to the Seaside Course for the first time since 2010 for The McGladrey Classic.

Austin tied for 25th in his first venture to Sea Island, but bouts with status likely kept him away in 2011 and 2012. His surprising win at the Sanderson Farms Championship at July of 2013 changed that. In his only start of the 2013-14 season, he tied missed the cut at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open despite a respectable 1-under-par 141.

Woody Austin has been added to the published field of this week's Wyndham Championship.

Austin was a late entry after he missed the cut at the PGA Championship on the number after incurring four strokes in penalties for playing two holes in the second round with an extra club in his bag. While he won the Sanderson Farms Championship less than one month ago, he's just 135th in FedExCup points and not yet eligible for the Playoffs. He's 1-for-2 at Sedgefield with a T59 in 2011.

Woody Austin sits just outside the cut line at the 95th PGA Championship after a 5-over-par 39-36=75 in his second round that included four strokes in penalties.

Austin opened with a 69, so he's 4-over 144 at the midpoint and will have to wait and see what the afternoon wave does today. However, he sat T90 at the time he signed his card; the low 70 and ties survive. The recent winner in Mississippi played his first two holes at Oak Hill today with 15 clubs in his bag, one more than the Rules of Golf allow. As a result, he incurred two-stroke penalties at Nos. 1 and 2 and turned a par-4 and a bogey-5 into a 6 and 7, respectively. He offset three bogeys with three birdies the rest of the way, so his form is fine. His temperament, however, may not be tonight. UPDATE: Mike Johnson on Twitter reported that the "Offending 15th club for Woody Austin was a 21 degree Adams DHy utility club he tried on the range pre-round."

Woody Austin totaled seven points in his opening round of the Reno-Tahoe Open.

Four days after an inspiring win in Mississippi, the 49-year-old opened the RBC Canadian Open with an 82. He chased it with a 70 but missed the cut by nine strokes. Perhaps the pair of additional days to rest since helped today. He converted five birdies to help subdue three bogeys and finish seven points off the clubhouse lead.

Four days after emerging with an unexpected victory in Mississippi, Woody Austin blew up for a 10-over-par 40-42=82 in his opening round of the RBC Canadian Open.

He split six (of 14) fairways and hit only nine greens in regulation, picking off just two birdies along the way. From holes 3-13, he carded one par, eight bogeys and two doubles. Overall, he fanned on five attempts from inside eight feet. At the time he signed his card, his strokes gained-putting split was south of -4.100, third worst in the field.

Woody Austin has been added to the published field of this week's RBC Canadian Open.

He's fully exempt on the PGA TOUR through 2014-15, but he's not yet eligible for the FedExCup Playoffs this season since his victory at the Sanderson Farms rewarded him with just 300 points and he hadn't made a cut previously. He's 6-for-9 at the Canadian Open, but hasn't played Glen Abbey in competition since 1999 (T29).
