Woody Austin has been added to the published field of this week's AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.
Austin was the fourth alternate when the field was released on Friday afternoon. He gained entry thanks to five withdrawals today. He turned 49 years of age on Jan. 27, so he gets one more crack at the PGA and Web.com Tours before the Champions Tour makes room. Alas, he doesn't warrant an investment in any format. Woody Austin has been removed from the published field of this week's Reno-Tahoe Open.

Austin will tee it up at the Cox Classic on the Web.com Tour instead. He's 37th on that circuit's money list. Given that he's currently 197th in FedExCup points and 191st in earnings on the PGA TOUR, it's a wise decision to play in Omaha this week.

Woody Austin spun a bogey-free 6-under-par 35-31=66 in the third round of the True South Classic.

Austin, who has been splitting time between the PGA TOUR and Web.com Tour, circled six birdies without a blemish on the strength of 25 putts and a 1.538 putting average. His best finish of the season is a T19 at the FedEx St. Jude, but if he keeps his foot on the gas in the finale, that stands to fall. He enters the final round at 12-under 204.

Woody Austin has been added to the published field of this week's John Deere Classic.

Austin was the fifth alternate at the start of the week. He gained entry when Dean Wilson withdrew. Austin is 1-for-5 in limited action due to Past Champion status. His addition to the field means that he'll compete in his 17th consecutive JDC. He's cashed in nine of the 12 editions at TPC Deere Run, including a T30 last year.

Woody Austin has gained entry into this week's AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.

Austin started the week as the third alternate. He snuck into the field thanks for four withdrawals. This will be his first start of the year. He's a mere 3-for-12 at Pebble Beach with one top 50 (T25, 2004).

Woody Austin posted a 2-under-par 36-32=68 in his opening round of the RBC Canadian Open, finishing one back of the clubhouse lead.

This was a bit of a smoke-and-mirrors performance. The 47-year-old hit 12 (of 14) fairways but only nine greens. It led to four bogeys, but his highlights more than compensated. First, he rolled in a par save of 24'5" at the par-3 third hole where his drive landed closer to the hole (seven yards) than the putt. Then he converted a gem of a birdie from 47'11" at the sixth. He rolled in his last of four birdies at the 14th hole, this one from 15'10". But he saved the fireworks show for last, holing out for eagle from 121 yards in the fairway at the par-4 16th. The veteran is playing with conditional status this year, so this is only his twelfth start, but he recorded his first top 30 at last week's Viking Classic (T18).

Woody Austin has been added to the published field of the Puerto Rico Open.

Since Austin is fully exempt, he elected to enter the tournament within 30 minutes after the conclusion of the second round of The Honda Classic, but after the field was released. He has not had a good season, missing four of six cuts including the Honda, and failing to crack a top 35.

Woody Austin completed two rounds of the St. Jude Classic in 7-under-par 67-66=133.

Austin has hit 20 (of 28) fairways and 26 GIR at TPC Southwind this week, leading to an eagle and nine birdies. He finished three strokes adrift of the 36-hole clubhouse lead.

Woody Austin blistered Colonial CC for a bogey-free, 7-under-par 31-32=63 in the opening round of the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial.

The morning wave enjoyed ripe scoring conditions and Austin's 63 might not even hold up among a.m. starters as Tim Clark has yet to finish. Austin had never gone lower than 65 in 24 career rounds at Colonial, and he's yet to post a Top 10 in 2009, but today's 15 GIR/26-putt clinic was vintage.

Woody Austin posted a third round of 5-over-par 77 and missed the second cut at the Buick Invitational.

This is the first time the second cut rule has come into play this season. Players that miss the second cut are credited with the money they earned going to official earnings, but they will not play on Sunday. Other players to miss the cut were Tim Petrovic, David Berganio Jr., Michael Allen, Colt Knost, Greg Owen, Alex Cejka, Brian Bateman, Chris Stroud, Cortland Lowe, Jeff Overton, Gary Woodland, Jay Williamson and Scott McCarron.

Woody Austin carded consecutive 79s at the PGA Championship and will miss the cut.

This was the final event for automatic Ryder Cup qualifying for the American team. Austin entered the week in the #9 hole, one spot short of the ticket, and now must swallow the bad news. Considering his role in last year's President's Cup, he's been a popular topic in the media since but we will have to wait until September 2 to learn if Austin made the team via wild card selection.

Woody Austin will play this week in his eighth PGA Championship.

Austin has had a chance to win a couple of times this season, but miscues on the final holes at the Zurich Classic and the Buick Open cost his a chance at those titles. He has played in seven PGA Championships, and his best result came last year when he finished in second place.

Woody Austin is scheduled to play this week in the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.

Austin was on a roll going into the British Open, after posting T-2 at the Buick Open and a T-9 at the John Deere, but the winds gave him trouble and he finished with a tie for 39th place. He has played in two WGC-Bridgestone Invitationals, with his best finish being a tie for 36th place in 2005.
