Joe Ogilvie signed for a 3-over-par 35-38=73 in the final round of the Wyndham Championship to end the tournament at 3-over 283.
As announced earlier this week, this was Ogilvie's final start on the PGA TOUR. He made 216 of his 399 cuts. Known as one of the more intellectual players on TOUR, he should have no problem finding new challenges to keep him occupied. Sun, Aug 17, 2014 12:24:00 PM

Joe Ogilvie alerted his followers on Twitter this week that the Wyndham Championship will serve as his exit on the PGA TOUR.

In two tweets, Ogilvie wrote, "Very pleased to announce that the @WyndhamChamp will be my last event on the PGA Tour. Started on the mini tours in the Carolinas. Ending on the PGA Tour 50 minutes from Duke. Appreciate the TDs, volunteers, sponsors, support staff, TV, caddies and players. Thank you." He was third alternate at the start of the week, so the ball bounced his way for a change. On the course, it's been quite a different story since 2012 when he finished 194th in the FedExCup standings in what was his final year fully exempt. The Wyndham will mark his 399th PGA TOUR start. He's cashed 215 times, including one win, three seconds, three thirds and another 19 top 10s. Ogilvie will leave the ranks of the touring professionals for a career "managing money," as he told "Talk of the TOUR" today. For the full interview, click here.

Joe Ogilvie has been added to the published field of this week's Wyndham Championship.

Ogilvie was the third alternate when the field was released on Friday afternoon. He gained entry with room to spare when eight others withdrew. He's 222nd in the FedExCup standings and hasn't cashed in his last seven events. What's more, he made no effort to peg it on the Tour all season.

Joe Ogivly returns to the John Deere Classic for the 13th time later this week.

The veteran has played 11 of his first 12 editions of this event at TPC Deere Run, making eight of those cuts highlighted by a T10 in 2006. He is relegated to Past Champion status in 2013-14, and this his his 11th start of the season. Ogilvie ranks 214th in the FedExCup standings. A worthy goal at this point would be to crack the top 200 in order to earn a spot in the Finals so he has a shot at earning full status for 2014-15.

Joe Ogilvie makes it back to TPC Southwind for the 11th time in his career for this week's FedEx St. Jude Classic.

The course history for Ogilvie doesn't jump off the page, by any means, with a 5-for-10 record and three top 25s which all occurred before 2008. His recent form doesn't get any better. You would have to travel back to the 2012 Sony Open if you wanted to find the last time Ogilvie earned a finish inside the top 40. It's safe to avoid Ogilvie when setting your rosters this week.

Joe Ogilvie makes his annual pit stop in Charlotte for this week's Wells Fargo Championship.

Ogilvie snagged a sponsor exemption thanks to his local connections to the event as a graduate of Duke University, which resides just two hours northeast of Charlotte. The Blue Devil has teed it up here for 10 consecutive years and will make it 11 this year. He's 5-for-10 in those attempts, and lacks a true top-25 finish. However, four of the five paychecks he's collected at Quail Hollow have been for finishes of 32nd place or better.

Joe Ogilvie opened the Shell Houston Open with a 4-under-par 33-35=68, good for very early possession of the clubhouse lead.

Someone from the opening threesome off the first hole was going to turn in the low score, but Ogilvie's actually sits near the top of the overall leaderboard. He hit 12 greens and circled six birdies, three of which consecutively from 11-18 feet beginning at the par-4 fifth hole. He also holed out for birdie from a greenside bunker 11 yards away at the par-3 ninth and poured in a par save measuring 12'6" at 17. The one-time PGA TOUR winner also whiffed on three tries inside 10 feet, one of which (at the par-4 second) leading to one of two bogeys.

Joe Ogilvie will compete in the Shell Houston Open on a sponsor exemption.

Ogilvie is relegated to Past Champion status, having played just five events in 2013-14 to date. He's made the cut in three of those outings, with a T42 at last week's Valero Texas Open his best showing. He's logged 16 starts in this event over the years, with eight of those coming at this week's venue, the Golf Club of Houston. His T11 in 2010 is the highlight at the GC of Houston.

Joe Ogilvie has been added to the published field of this week's Puerto Rico Open.

Ogilvie was the first alternate when the field was released on Friday. He gained entry when two openings occurred today. Just 1-for-3 on the season with a T74 in Phoenix and saddled with Past Champion status, he does not warrant a spot on any roster.

The second round of the Waste Management Phoenix Open was completed this morning.

Darkness shut out four golfers from finishing their second round on Friday evening. Joe Ogilvie was in the most danger of missing the cut, but he buried the 67-inch birdie putt at the par-4 ninth hole to squeeze inside the bubble. Meanwhile, Michael Putnam was sent trunk-slamming even though he sat inside the cut line at nightfall. When he returned to TPC Scottsdale this morning, he birdied the par-4 17th to get to 2-under, but then tripled the par-4 17th to land at 1-over 145. Seventy-seven golfers reached the midpoint in 1-under-par 141 or lower. The third round is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. MT. The leaders are slated to go off the first tee at 11:00 a.m.

The second round of the Waste Management Phoenix Open was suspended for darkness at 6:05 p.m. MT.

Scattered clouds allowed for a few more minutes of golf today versus Thursday's blanket overhead. Four golfers will return to TPC Scottsdale at 7:45 a.m. on Saturday to complete the round. This include Joe Ogilvie, who will be standing over a birdie attempt from 5'7" at the par-4 ninth hole, his last of the round. He's currently one stroke below the cut line, so the putt will need to fall for him to advance to survive.

Joe Ogilvie will tee it up at this week's Waste Management Phoenix Open on a sponsor exemption.

Ogilvie will turn 40 years of age on April 8 but it's been years since he was effective on the PGA TOUR. Now relegated to the Past Champion category, he missed the cut at the OHL Classic at Mayakoba where he gained entry via, you guessed it, a sponsor exemption. At just 7,152 yards, he'll get around TPC Scottsdale just fine, but he's missed the cut in his last two visits.

Joe Ogilvie has received a sponsor exemption into the OHL Classic at Mayakoba.

Ogilvie's only PGA TOUR status in 2013-14 is Past Champion status, so it is critical that he make makes hay while the sun shines. In 15 starts during the 2013 season, he made just four cuts and didn't come close to keeping his card. Perhaps the reason for the invite to El Camaleón Golf Club is his record of perfect attendance dating back to 2007. In those six trips, he's posted top-20 finishes on two occasions.

Joe Ogilvie spun a bogey-free, 5-under-par 34-33=67 in his second round of the Sanderson Farms Championship to reach the midpoint in 7-under 137, three strokes off the very early 36-hole clubhouse lead.

He's just 3-for-13 and 205th in FedExCup points, but this isn't his first rodeo. Including this week's payday in Mississippi, the 39-year-old has survived 212 cuts on the PGA TOUR. He's aided his chances this week by hitting 30 greens in regulation.

Joe Ogilvie arrived at the halfway point of the U.S. Open in 16-over-par 75-81=156 and will miss the cut.

Ogilvie hit only 19 greens in regulation, yet needed a whopping 69 putts to loop Merion Golf Club twice this week. He wiped off four birdies with 12 bogeys, one double and two triples. Since this was the last start on his Major Medical Extension, he will be demoted to the Past Champion category for the remainder of the season. For the record, he fell $462,191 short of meeting the terms of MME. Ogilvie also came up short of securing conditional status as a secondary goal by $288,976.
