Mathew Goggin will carry a two-stroke lead over Bobby Gates, Roland Thatcher and Kevin Foley into the final round of the Panama Claro Championship after a third-round 4-under-par 34-32=66.
Goggin has fired all three of his rounds in the 60s this week, reaching the 54-hole mark at 7-under 203. His round started innocently enough, with one birdie and nine pars on his first 10 holes. He heated up and rattled off four consecutive birdies beginning with the 11th hole, but immediately gave two back with bogeys on 15 and 16. A final birdie on the 18th has him searching for his second win in three years at this event. He did not defend his title in 2012 because he had graduated from the Web.com Tour onto the PGA TOUR. In his 2011 win, he scored in the 60s in each of his four rounds. Feb 23 - 5:40 PM

Mathew Goggin signed for a bogey-free 2-under-par 34-34=68 in the third round of The McGladrey Classic and enters the finale at 9-under 201.

Goggin began the week a distant 178th on the PGA TOUR money list, but has responded with a solid 54 holes on Sea Island's Seaside Course. He circled his first birdie of the round on the par-4 eighth hole and followed with his second, and final, birdie on the par-5 15th. He will try and capture his first top 10 of the season in Sunday's final round.

Mathew Goggin sits at 7-under-par 67-66=133 at the midpoint of The McGladrey Classic, three strokes off the overnight lead.

The Tasmanian is gunning for a third straight top 25 in the Fall Series, but he'll need to do better than that to think about securing his PGA TOUR card for 2013. He arrived at Sea Island ranked 178th on the money list. However, he's in terrific position to do something about it on the weekend. Through 36 holes, he's hit 30 greens and taken just 58 putts. Today's bogey-free loop included four of his nine birdies, all of which ranging greater than 11 feet. Both of his highlights were of the zero-putt variety. First, he pitched in from the greenside rough 27 yards out at the par-4 first hole. Then, to add some symmetry to his round, he chipped in from 18 yards in front of the green at the par-4 18th.

Mathew Goggin enters the Frys.com Open having signed for his best finish of the season at last week's stop in Las Vegas.

Goggin posted a T13 at the Justin Timberlake in what was his seventh payday in 20 starts. Goggin has two runner-up finishes in 273 TOUR starts and won twice on the Web.com Tour in 2011, making his struggles this season a little curious. He is 40th in GIR, but 155th in Strokes Gained-Putting.

Mathew Goggin spun a bogey-free, 6-under-par 35-31=66 in his opening round of the True South Classic, finishing two strokes off the clubhouse lead.

The opening round restarted at 8:30 a.m. CT today. Goggin finished with a flourish, scoring 5-under on his last seven holes. The run included a 41'4" eagle conversion at the par-5 fifth hole sandwiched by birdies of 14'8" and 11'11" at Nos. 3 and 6, respectively. The Tasmanian entered the week 5-for-15 with no top 30s on the PGA TOUR this season.

Mathew Goggin signed for a 1-over-par 35-36=71 following his opening round of The Greenbrier Classic.

Out since calling it quits during the first weather delay of the second round at the Travelers Championship two weeks ago due to reasons unknown -- he wasn't going to make the cut anyway had he returned to finish -- he hit 15 greens at The Old White TPC today but needed 33 putts. He managed only two birdies which were promptly erased by a bogey and one double. It's been an exceptionally disappointing year for the veteran after a superb comeback campaign on the Web.com Tour in 2011.

Mathew Goggin is listed in the published field of next week's Greenbrier Classic.

Goggin withdrew during the first weather delay in the second round of last week's Travelers, but an explanation was not released for his decision. It was merely the latest setback in a poor season. He's 5-for-13 with no top 30s. In his only previous start at Greenbrier, he tied for 45th place in the inaugural edition in 2010.

Mathew Goggin withdrew during his second round of the Travelers Championship.

The Tasmanian called it quits when play was suspended due to inclement weather at 12:50 p.m. ET. At 7-over-par through 35 holes, he wasn't going to make the cut anyway. Nevertheless, if an official explanation is released, we will relay it to you.

Matthew Goggin has had a rough 2012, but he hopes to turn that around at this week's FedEx St. Jude Championship.

The Nationwide Tour grad has made just four (of 11) cuts and has yet to crack the $100k mark. He last played in Memphis in 2010 where he finished T37. With his lack of success, it seems odd he still ranks 56th in the all-around ranking.

Mathew Goggin has been added to the published field of this week's Shell Houston Open.

Goggin was the second alternate when the field was released on Friday afternoon. He gained entry this morning thanks to three withdrawals. After starting 2012 with promise, he's started terribly, cashing in just one of his six events. He may be set for a decent week at Redstone, however, as he's 3-for-4 at the host track with a pair of top 20s.

Mathew Goggin signed for a 3-under-par 34-35=69 following his opening round of the Puerto Rico Open.

Goggin has returned to the PGA TOUR this year but he's off to an awful 1-for-5 start with a T35 at Pebble Beach. Today's round could has been a continuation of that poor play if he didn't bring his greenside touch. He missed 10 greens in regulation but suffered just two bogeys. The Tasmanian took just 21 putts and circled five birdies to finish two strokes off the clubhouse lead.

Mathew Goggin carded a bogey-free, 6-under-par 32-32=64 in his opening round of the Travelers Championship.

The Tasmanian has had a devilish season, having missed 11 of 16 cuts and cashing for just one top-35 payday, but he made it look easy today. Goggin hit 12 (of 14) fairways, 16 greens and took just 29 putts. Just one of his six birdies disappeared from beyond 10 feet, but it was a doozy - 47'11" at the 1st hole. As the early clubhouse leader, he's in great shape as he resumes his hunt for his first PGA TOUR victory.

Inclement weather has delayed the start of the Valero Texas Open until approximately 10:00 a.m. CT.

This isn't unexpected, and threatening weather is in the forecast for the remainder of the tournament. Mathew Goggin is scheduled to go off the 10th tee in the first group when play resumes. He shot a 2-over-par 39-35=74 on Thursday, and will be aiming to put an end to a string of five missed cuts dating back to the Houston Open.

Mathew Goggin shot an even-par 34-37=71 in the opening round of the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.

Goggin pulled out of the Turning Stone after one round, but didn't provide an explanation. You might assume that his bad back was the cause, as it had bumped him from The Barclays, but whatever is at the root of his recent inconsistency is reason enough to let him figure it out before you invest in short-term formats.

Mathew Goggin is listed in the published field of next week's Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.

We still don't know what bumped Goggin from the Turning Stone after his opening round, but it's good to see him get back out there. He's cashed four of six times in Vegas, including top-25s in each of the last three years.
