Carl Paulson announced on "Teed Off" that he's no longer a touring professional.
"Teed Off" is a daily program hosted by Brian Katrek on the PGA TOUR's SiriusXM's station. In response to Katrek's question about Paulson's future, Paulson explained that his plan at the end of 2012 was to burn through his two remaining starts on a medical extension, and then give Q School a try, "to see what happens." Obviously, it didn't pan out for the journeyman, so he made it clear. "Yes," he said. "I'm officially retired." Fri, Mar 8, 2013 10:36:00 AM

Carl Paulson shot 1-under-par 71-70-74-72=287 at the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Classic to finish in a tie for 65th place worth $9,823.00.

Paulson burned the final start on his medical extension in the reshuffle category at Disney World, so his only goal was to crack the top 125 or 150 on the money list like many of his competitors. Instead, with a grand total of $16,943, he finished 249th. For the record, he fell short of meeting the terms of his medical by $381,657. He also came up short of the threshold for conditional status by $240,264. However, neither of those two goals came into since he didn't begin his season on the PGA TOUR until The McGladrey Classic.

Carl Paulson shared 79th place at The McGladrey Classic, good for $7,120.00.

In what was his 2012 debut on the PGA TOUR, Paulson completed 54 holes in even-par 68-71-71=210. Alas, he was one of 17 that failed to survive the 54-hole cut that fell at 2-under 208. It leaves him with one start remaining on his medical extension in the reshuffle category to earn $391,480 and a promotion to the Major Medical category.

Carl Paulson has been removed from the published field of this week's Travelers Championship.

Only duffer leaguers are throwing their hands in the air here. We'll continue to monitor the veteran until he exhausts his PGA TOUR status. For the time being, he'll remain stuck on two starts via a medical extension in the reshuffle category to earn $398,600 and a promotion to the Major Medical category.

Carl Paulson is listed in the published field of next week's Travelers Championship.

Paulson still has a shred of status on the PGA TOUR via a medical extension in the reshuffle category, offering him two starts to earn $398,600 and a promotion to the Major Medical category. He hasn't played the circuit since last year's Fall Series, opting for five starts on the Nationwide Tour this season; he's made one cut.

Carl Paulson shot 3-under-par 70-68-70-77=285 at the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Classic, finishing in a tie for 59th place.

He started his final round inside the top 20 but failed to convert a single birdie, settling for five bogeys to go with 13 pars. The $10,152.00 payday is just his third in 11 events this year and leaves him with two starts on his Major Medical Extension (reshuffle category) to earn $398,600 and get elevated to the MME category. Unless he graduates from Q School, this will be the only status he will have on the PGA TOUR to begin 2012.

Carl Paulson shot 3-over-par 75-70=145 at the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, and will miss the cut.

He hit 24 greens including 17 today but required 64 putts (34 today), finding only five birdies in 36 holes. It's the eight time that he's failed to cash in 10 starts this year. It also leaves him with three starts on his Major Medical Extension to earn $408,752 and retain status. Since only three events remain this season, if he finishes the year with at least one start on his MME, it would assumingly carry over into 2012. Then, should he meet the terms of his medical in 2012, he would retain that status for the remainder of the year.

Carl Paulson shot 4-over-par 71-73=144 at the Wyndham Championship, and will miss the cut.

Paulson hit 23 greens in regulation but required 63 putts. Three of his four birdies were recorded on the two par 5s at Sedgefield; he did not birdie a par 4 this week. It's his seventh missed cut in nine events this year and leaves him with four starts on his Major Medical Extension (reshuffle category) to earn $408,752 and get elevated to the MME category. Paulson will not qualify for the FedExCup Playoffs, and with only four Fall Series events this year, if he elects not to enter one of them and doesn't win or crack the top 125 in earnings if he does play, his medical would presumably extend into 2012.

Carl Paulson finished in a share of 61st place at the Reno-Tahoe Open at 1-under-par 69-74-75-69=287.

It wasn't so much the haphazard scoring as it was how we executed. Paulson hit 47 (of 56) fairways but only 41 greens in regulation. Yet, he still converted 19 birdies to offset 12 bogeys and three doubles. The $6,510.00 paycheck leaves him with five starts on his Major Medical Extension (reshuffle category) to earn $408,752 and get elevated to the MME category.

Carl Paulson shot 8-over-par 73-75=148 at The Greenbrier Classic, and will miss the cut.

Paulson hit 24 greens but needed a whopping 67 putts at The Old White TPC. He circled only three birdies, two of which on par 3s, the other on a par 5. It marks the sixth time in seven starts this year that he's failed to play the weekend. It also leaves him with six starts on his Major Medical Extension (reshuffle category) to earn $415,262 and get elevated to the MME category. He'll try again at next week's Reno-Tahoe Open.

Carl Paulson withdrew on Monday from the Viking Classic.

Paulson made his first PGA TOUR cut of the season last time out when he tied for 59th at the Travelers Championship. He currently is playing on a Major Medical Extension and now has seven starts to earn $415,262 to retain his status for the remainder of the 2011 season.

Carl Paulson has seven starts remaining on his Major Medical Extension (reshuffle category), not nine as we relayed recently.

This is an error that dates all the way back to the beginning of the season, but we were alerted to it today. Paulson ended 2010 with 15 starts, but somehow started this year with 13 despite not playing the PGA TOUR since 2005. Therefore, deducting the six that he's made, he now has seven to burn. His monetary goal of $415,262 remains the same, however.

Carl Paulson was removed from the published field of this week's John Deere Classic.

Paulson's bid for consecutive paydays for the first time in over six years will have to wait. He finished T59 at the Travelers two weeks ago.

Carl Paulson earned his first paycheck on the PGA TOUR since July 2005 for sharing 59th place at the Travelers Championship.

It's a deceiving fact given that he had missed only his last six cuts during that span -- the last five were this season -- as back injuries have severely limited his playing ability. Today's payday of $13,260.00 leaves him with nine starts on his Major Medical Extension (reshuffle category) to earn $415,262 and get elevated to the MME category.

Carl Paulson completed 36 holes of the FedEx St. Jude Classic in 10-over-par 73-77=150, and will miss the cut.

Paulson hit only 19 greens this week (including just six today), but still required 62 putts in his two loops of TPC Southwind. He's now 0-for-5 in his return to the PGA TOUR this season, leaving 10 starts on his Major Medical Extension (reshuffle category) to earn $428,522 and get elevated to the MME category.
