Heath Slocum cracked the lid on the OHL Classic at Mayakoba with a 3-under-par 34-34=68, good for very early possession of the clubhouse lead.
Slocum went out in the first threesome off the first tee at El Camaleón Golf Club this morning. He hit all 14 fairways and missed only one green in regulation en route to four birdies against on bogey. He buried two of his birdies on the set of three par 5s. Since missing the cut in the first three events this season, he's finished T21 (CIMB) and T58 (Sanderson Farms). The Mayakoba is the final opportunity for all Web.com Tour Finals grads to put points on the board in the first phase of the reshuffle. Slocum is among that throng, so the good start in México is valuable. Nov 13 - 11:24 AM

Heath Slocum posted a 2-under-par 34-36=70 in the third round of the Sanderson Farms Championship and reached the 54-hole mark at 5-under 211.

Slocum drained five birdies to just three bogeys at the Country Club of Jackson, with four of those red numbers occurring from putts longer than 18 feet. It's little wonder that he gained over two strokes with the flat stick at the time of his posting. He is subject to the Web.com Tour reshuffle, so a strong finish on Sunday could have an impact on the number of starts he will receive on the West Coast Swing in January.
Nov 8 - 2:34 PM

Heath Slocum closed out the CIMB Classic with a 5-under-par 34-33=67 to post 7-under 281 and sit just inside the top 20 on the leaderboard.

Slocum began the day in a tie for 39th place and en route to a forgettable finish. However, he wiped away one bogey with six birdies. The set included a lunge with three birdies on his last four holes. He qualified for the CIMB for finishing inside the top 150 in FedExCup points in 2013-14. That status came in handy after opening this season 0-for-3. Only Slocum and David Lingmerth from the Web.com Tour reshuffle category are in Kuala Lumpur, so both are essentially stealing free FedExCup points to contribute to the first phase that concludes at the OHL Classic at Mayakoba in two weeks.
Nov 2 - 12:35 AM

Heath Slocum returns to the site of his most recent PGA TOUR victory for The McGladrey Classic this week.

Slocum's win on Sea Island Resort's Seaside Course in 2010 was the fourth of his career. In his subsequent three trips, he owns two other top-20 finishes to go with a T61 in 2012. He is subsequent to the Web.com Tour reshuffle this season after securing his status via the Web.com Tour Finals in 2014. Should he crack the top 20 for a fourth time in five tries in Sea Island, it would serve as a nice cushion for future reshuffles.

Heath Slocum racked up enough money in the Web.com Tour Finals to secure full status on the PGA TOUR for the 2014-15 season.

He finished 2013-14 ranked 129th in the FedExCup standings, meaning he had conditional status on which to fall back. He improved his position, beginning the season 30th in the reshuffle and with the opportunity to move up should he perform well. Slocum made 12 of 23 cuts in 2013-14, including a fourth-place finish at the Wyndham Championship in his last start.
Oct 2 - 8:23 PM

Heath Slocum turned in a 3-under-par 32-35=67 in the final round of the Wyndham Championship to finish alone in fourth at 15-under 265.

His trip around Sedgefield CC was a wild one, featuring four birdies, two eagles and five bogeys. Highlighting Slocum's work were 18'10" and 10'8" eagles on the par-5 fifth and 15th holes and birdies from 11'7" and 34'7" on the par-4 13th and par-3 16th holes. He had plenty for which to play, entering the week 158th in the FedExCup standings. While he did not crack the top 125 to earn a spot in the Playoffs, he did finish in the 126-150 range which allows him conditional status on the PGA TOUR in 2014-15.
Aug 17 - 5:45 PM

Heath Slocum could only muster a 2-under-par 34-34=68 in the third round of the Wyndham Championship and trails Nick Watney by two strokes at 12-under 198.

Slocum picked up two birdies and surrendered one bogey on each side at Segefield CC. Three of those birdies fell from outside of 10 feet, with a 36'1" bomb at the par-4 10th standing above the others. He landed 15 GIR on Saturday, and ranks inside the top 10 in driving accuracy and GIR for the tournament. He began the week at 158th in the FedExCup standings, and will likely need a solo third or better to crack the top 125 for inclusion into the FEC Playoffs.
Aug 16 - 5:59 PM

Heath Slocum chased his opening 65 at the Wyndham Championship with another in today's second round to set the new 36-hole clubhouse lead at 10-under 130.

Slocum carded respective nines of 33 and 32 today with seven birdies against two bogeys spanning the sides. Three of his birdies traveled longer than 10 feet, the most notable ranging 21'8" and the eighth hole and 20'5" at 13, both par 4s. Everything is clicking for the veteran. Through 36 holes, he's missed only five (of 28) fairways and seven greens in regulation, and possessed a average strokes gained-putting split just north of 2.750 at the time he concluded today's work.
Aug 15 - 12:05 PM

Heath Slocum toured Sedgefield Country Club's Donald Ross Course in 5-under-par 31-34=65 in today's opening round of the Wyndham Championship.

Like to many in the field, Slocum is fighting for status this week. He's 158th in the FedExCup standings with only two top 25s on the season, neither of which went for a top 15. But like so many veterans needing a big week, he showed up to work today and equaled his season-low aggregate. Slocum split 11 (of 14) fairways and hit 15 greens en route to six birdies against a three-putt bogey from just inside 29 feet at the par-3 third hole. His longest birdies stretched 11'11" at the par-3 12th and 12'1" at the par-4 17th. The four-time PGA TOUR winner walked off one stroke adrift of the clubhouse lead.

Heath Slocum returns to the RBC Canadian Open for his second look at Royal Montreal Golf Club.

Slocum is finding some form just in time for a late season playoff run. Currently sitting outside the FedExCup bubble at 149th place, he has rallied for six straights cuts made. Prior to the course renovations, Slocum took home 70th place at Royal Montreal Golf Club in the 2001 Canadian Open. Gamers should expect a decent showing this week but also remember that his last top 15 came in October of 2012 at the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.

Heath Slocum has been added to the published field of this week's Quicken Loans National.

Slocum was the second alternate when the field was released on Friday afternoon. He gained entry due to two withdrawals this morning. After opening the Travelers with a 4-under-par 66, he turned in progressively higher scores to drift into a five-way share of 46th place and remain outside the top 150 in both FedExCup points and earnings. Slocum placed T34 in his last trip to Congressional in 2012.

Jun 23 - 10:59 AM

Heath Slocum opened the Travelers Championship with a 4-under-par 33-33=66, good for very early possession of the clubhouse lead.

Slocum went out in the first threesome off the first tee at TPC River Highlands this morning and promptly set the tone with a par save from 17'7" on the par 4. While it wasn't a red number, it perhaps sparked some momentum as he would go on to trade six birdies with two bogeys. Three of his conventional birdies dropped in from outside 11 feet, the longest measuring 36'8" at the par-3 16th. But Slocum also holed out for birdie from a greenside bunker 15 yards away at 5 and rolled in a zero-putt jobber from four yards at 6. He arrived in town sitting outside the top 150 in both FedExCup points and earnings. Today's score is his lowest on the PGA TOUR since a third-round 65 at Waialae over five months ago.
Jun 19 - 11:50 AM

Heath Slocum makes his 12th start in the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial after a one-year break.

Slocum played 11 consecutive CPIs before failing to qualify for the field last year. History hasn't been all that kind to him, as he's made just six of 11 cuts and doesn't have a top 25 on his resume. Since a T20 at the Sony Open in early January, he has missed seven of his nine cuts with nothing better than a T60 at Quail Hollow.

Heath Slocum makes his third start at TPC Louisiana in this week's Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

Slocum got off to a very nice start to the season with three top-40 finishes in his first five starts, but you can now see his comeback season fading away. The Web.com grad sits at 24th in the reshuffle and 158th in the FedExCup standings. He will attempt to improve on his 0-for-2 TPC Louisiana record this week.

Heath Slocum submitted a 2-under-par 36-34=70 for his opening round of the Valero Texas Open.

Just 4-for-9 on the season and 145th in the FedExCup standings, Slocum doesn't shape up as a viable fantasy investment. Toss into the mix that his scoring average among four rounds at TPC San Antonio was 77.75 (with no lower than a 74) and he qualifies as a mild surprise today. He split 10 (of 14) fairways and hit 14 greens in regulation, picking off three birdies against a three-putt bogey from 28'7" at the par-3 13th hole. His longest conversion went for birdie from 11'9" at the par-5 18th hole -- his ninth of the round -- but he also poured in a par save from 11'4" at 11. Slocum is two strokes off the clubhouse lead.
