Heath Slocum is playing this season out of the Past Champion category but makes his sixth RSM Classic appearance in Saint Simons Island, Georgia, as a former winner of the event.
Slocum made just six cuts on 22 starts in 2014-15 and failed to record a top-10 finish for the third time in his last four (full) seasons. His season best --and only top 25 -- was T21 at the CIMB Classic, eventually finishing 211th in the FedExCup standings. The 41-year-old has played in all five editions of the RSM and won the inaugural in 2010. It was the last of his four wins on TOUR in 387 career events. The transplanted Georgian has logged one top 10 in 116 starts since the win (solo fourth, 2014 Wyndham). He opened 2015-16 with a missed cut (by five) two weeks ago at the Sanderson Farms. Heath Slocum arrives at the Barracuda Championship ranked 210th in the FedExCup standings.

Slocum is 3-for-7 at the Barracuda with a best of T47 in 2009. He missed the cut in last year's edition by four points (Modified Stableford scoring system). The Tour grad has cashed but five paychecks in 2014-15 on 20 starts, with a lone top 25 coming at the CIMB Classic back in November (T21). In his last five starts on TOUR, he's missed four cuts and finished T74 at the RBC Canadian Open. The 41-year-old ranks 177th on TOUR in birdie average at 3.22 at 165th in eagles (holes per), so it's doubtful that he makes much noise in this week's scoring-fest at Montrêux Golf and Country Club.
Aug 4 - 9:08 PM

Heath Slocum clocks into this week's John Deere Classic ranked 204th in the FedExCup standings.

Slocum is 8-for-12 at the Deere with two top 10s coming back-to-back in 2006/3rd and 2007/T6. He's cashed in five of six editions since, but nothing in the top 30, including T52 last year. The Tour grad is a dismal 4-for-17 on his PGA TOUR season with the highlight being a T21 at the CIMB Classic back in November, his only top 25. He's made early departures in 10 of his last 12 events, with matching T69-finishes in the other two. Slocum's made two starts on the Tour season, missing the cut in both. The 41-year-old's last win on the main tour was at the 2010 McGladrey Classic.

Heath Slocum makes his annual pilgrimage to TPC Southwind for this week's FedEx St. Jude Classic.

Slocum arrives on the heels of six straight missed cuts. Luckily, his course history is much better, as he's 8-for-12 overall including four top 15s. The fairway sniper relies on his accuracy off the tee and that gives him a leg up this week as the majority of the field will struggle to hit fairways this week.
Jun 9 - 10:43 PM

Heath Slocum will compete in this week's Wells Fargo Championship.

Slocum was the second alternate when the field was released on Friday afternoon, but he received a sponsor exemption when one became available following a pair of withdrawals this morning. This season has not gone how the 41-year-old had planned. He's missed nine of 12 cuts, including his last four, and sits 192nd in the FedExCup standings. Maybe the opportunity to navigate Quail Hollow is what he needs, however. Slocum has cashed in his last four appearances and logged a T5 on the challenging track in 2008. He's missed the cut only twice in 10 tries.
May 11 - 11:43 AM

Heath Slocum prepares for his fourth look at TPC Louisiana at this week's Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

Slocum is 0-for-3 at this venue and it's not surprising given his play style. TPC Louisiana rewards distance and tee-to-green play over accuracy, the latter being Slocum's strongest asset. Slocum has missed the cut in eight of his 11 starts on the season and can be overlooked when setting lineups this week.
Apr 21 - 12:13 PM

Heath Slocum turns his attention to Trump International Golf Club-Puerto Rico for this week's Puerto Rico Open.

The veteran skipped last year's running but had posted back-to-back top 60s in the two years prior. Known for his incredible accuracy, he currently ranks eighth in driving accuracy but just 191st in strokes gained:tee-to-green. Slocum arrives this week 172nd in the FedExCup standings and shouldn't be considered anything more than a long shot reserved for deep leagues only.
Mar 4 - 8:48 PM

Heath Slocum turned in a 6-under-par 32-34=66 at PGA West's Nicklaus Private for his opening round of the Humana Challenge.

Slocum went out in the first group off the first tee today. He birdied the par-4 opener and added five birdies through the 12th hole. An eagle-3 at 16 positioned him atop the leaderboard at bogey-free 8-under until he gave back both strokes with a bogey-bogey finish. He hit only 12 greens in regulation for the round, so he'll happily take the score in this shootout. Slocum will play Palmer Private at PGA West in the second round.
Jan 22 - 4:45 PM

Heath Slocum has secured just two of his six cuts to start the 2014-15 PGA TOUR season.

Slocum's best finish was a T21 in the CIMB Classic, which did not feature a cut. His other payday was a T58 in the Sanderson Farms Championship. When the FedExCup points are added up, he ranks 115th in the standings. While he would likely take anything inside the top 125 a season's end, Slocum still has plenty of work to do if he is to realize that goal.

Heath Slocum cracked the lid on the OHL Classic at Mayakoba with a 3-under-par 34-34=68, good for very early possession of the clubhouse lead.

Slocum went out in the first threesome off the first tee at El Camaleón Golf Club this morning. He hit all 14 fairways and missed only one green in regulation en route to four birdies against on bogey. He buried two of his birdies on the set of three par 5s. Since missing the cut in the first three events this season, he's finished T21 (CIMB) and T58 (Sanderson Farms). The Mayakoba is the final opportunity for all Tour Finals grads to put points on the board in the first phase of the reshuffle. Slocum is among that throng, so the good start in México is valuable.

Heath Slocum posted a 2-under-par 34-36=70 in the third round of the Sanderson Farms Championship and reached the 54-hole mark at 5-under 211.

Slocum drained five birdies to just three bogeys at the Country Club of Jackson, with four of those red numbers occurring from putts longer than 18 feet. It's little wonder that he gained over two strokes with the flat stick at the time of his posting. He is subject to the Tour reshuffle, so a strong finish on Sunday could have an impact on the number of starts he will receive on the West Coast Swing in January.

Heath Slocum closed out the CIMB Classic with a 5-under-par 34-33=67 to post 7-under 281 and sit just inside the top 20 on the leaderboard.

Slocum began the day in a tie for 39th place and en route to a forgettable finish. However, he wiped away one bogey with six birdies. The set included a lunge with three birdies on his last four holes. He qualified for the CIMB for finishing inside the top 150 in FedExCup points in 2013-14. That status came in handy after opening this season 0-for-3. Only Slocum and David Lingmerth from the Tour reshuffle category are in Kuala Lumpur, so both are essentially stealing free FedExCup points to contribute to the first phase that concludes at the OHL Classic at Mayakoba in two weeks.

Heath Slocum returns to the site of his most recent PGA TOUR victory for The McGladrey Classic this week.

Slocum's win on Sea Island Resort's Seaside Course in 2010 was the fourth of his career. In his subsequent three trips, he owns two other top-20 finishes to go with a T61 in 2012. He is subsequent to the Tour reshuffle this season after securing his status via the Tour Finals in 2014. Should he crack the top 20 for a fourth time in five tries in Sea Island, it would serve as a nice cushion for future reshuffles.

Heath Slocum racked up enough money in the Tour Finals to secure full status on the PGA TOUR for the 2014-15 season.

He finished 2013-14 ranked 129th in the FedExCup standings, meaning he had conditional status on which to fall back. He improved his position, beginning the season 30th in the reshuffle and with the opportunity to move up should he perform well. Slocum made 12 of 23 cuts in 2013-14, including a fourth-place finish at the Wyndham Championship in his last start.

Heath Slocum turned in a 3-under-par 32-35=67 in the final round of the Wyndham Championship to finish alone in fourth at 15-under 265.

His trip around Sedgefield CC was a wild one, featuring four birdies, two eagles and five bogeys. Highlighting Slocum's work were 18'10" and 10'8" eagles on the par-5 fifth and 15th holes and birdies from 11'7" and 34'7" on the par-4 13th and par-3 16th holes. He had plenty for which to play, entering the week 158th in the FedExCup standings. While he did not crack the top 125 to earn a spot in the Playoffs, he did finish in the 126-150 range which allows him conditional status on the PGA TOUR in 2014-15.
