Hank Kuehne has been removed from the published field of this week's Valero Texas Open.

Now that he's down to two starts on his Major Medical Extension, you can understand that he wants to be choosy; that is, of course, if he's not dealing with an injury or personal issue at the moment. Either way, he has zero fantasy value.

At 1-over-par 73-72=145, Hank Kuehne missed the cut at the Shell Houston Open by two strokes.

Kuehne actually 'shot' 71 today but signed for a 3 at the par-3 14th hole where he drilled hom a birdie putt from 25'5". As Golf Channel's Steve Sands reported, Kuehne made the mistake of penciling in a par after which he had to sweat out the cut line. He also curled in a birdie putt from 28'6" at the second hole and concluded his round with a par save from 19'1" at 9, but the cut eventually fell at 1-under 143; 72 golfers will play on. So, what could have been a critical mistake is academic tonight. Still, he has just two starts remaining on his Major Medical Extension to bank $561,833 and retain status. Look for him at next week's Valero Texas Open.

Hank Kuehne crafted a bogey-free, 5-under-par 33-33=66 in his final round of the Waste Management Phoenix Open to rise 15 spots on the leaderboard, finishing in a six-way tie for 43rd place at 10-under 274.

He pocketed $19,881.33 today, leaving him with four starts on his Major Medical Extension to earn $575,873 and retain status. While not outragingly impressive, the T43 is his best finish on the PGA TOUR since October 2005.

Hank Kuehne shot a 6-under-par 33-32=65 in his opening round of the Waste Management Phoenix Open, finishing five strokes adrift of the clubhouse lead.

He also poured in a par save from 12'9" at 11. It's his lowest score in a PGA TOUR-sanctioned event since a fourth-round 64 at the Humana Challenge in 2006, back when it was a 90-hole marathon.

He didn't competed anywhere over the last nine weeks, but his result is the same as his last start at the St. Jude Classic. Kuehne wiped out five birdies with six bogeys at Sedgefield this week. He now has nine starts on his Major Medical Extension to earn $609,879 and retain status. Given that he's 2-for-9 on the year with no top 60s, he won't qualify for the FedExCup Playoffs.

Hank Kuehne was removed from the published field of this week's John Deere Classic.

He hasn't competed since missing the cut at the St. Jude a month ago. He'll remain with 10 starts on his Major Medical Extension to earn $609,879 and retain status. Given his disappointing return to competition -- he's currently 230th in FedExCup points and 231st in earnings -- it's possible if not probable that he'll bleed his MME into 2013.
