Larry Mize returns to Augusta National Golf Club for his 32nd Masters appearance.
The 1987 winner took home the green jacket on his fourth trip to Augusta National. He finished inside the top 20 in two of his first three trips before pulling the trick. More recently Mize has missed the weekend in 11 of his last 14 starts here, although he did finish in solo 51st last year. Gamers can ignore the veteran this week as his best days are long past him. Larry Mize finished off his week at the Maters with a 7-over-par 41-38=79 in the final round, ending his tournament at 16-over 304.

Just making the cut and logging 72 holes had to be the equivalent of a win for the veteran. Mize is an Augusta native, and winner of the 1987 Masters. This will likely be the last we see of him until next April, when this tournament rolls around again.

Former Masters champion Larry Mize makes his 31st Masters appearance this week at Augusta National.

The Augusta native did plenty of damage back in his prime, including his Masters victory in 1987, but he is just along for the ride now. Mize has only broken par at Augusta National two times since Y2K.

Larry Mize makes his 30th Masters appearance this week at Augusta National.

A native of Augusta, Mize won his only green jacket in his fourth appearance back in 1987. In his prime he tamed the season’s first major, making the cut in his first 11 tries and 15 of his first 17. Since 2000, he’s only seen the weekend twice, tying for 42nd in 2006 and 30th in 2009.

Augusta's native son Larry Mize will give it another go at the Masters, playing as a past champion.

Mize has turned the Masters into his only annual stop for some time, and his last made cut on TOUR came at the 2009 Masters where he finished T30 after a first-round 67. Expectations should be very low for the Champions Tour regular.

Larry Mize carded a 5-under-par 67 in the opening round of the Masters.

When Mize won the Masters in 1987, he didn't break 70, and he hasn't broken par at the event since the second round in 2000. Today's loop included six birdies, a healthy total since he hit just 11 GIR, and leaves him one stroke off Jim Furyk's clubhouse lead.

Larry Mize has been added to the field of this week's Wyndham Championship.

Mize finished in 77th place when he missed the Sunday cut at the Canadian Open three weeks ago, but the following week he finished in a tie for 33rd place at the Legends Reno-Tahoe Open.

Mize has had some success this year with alternate events, with a T-22 at the Mayakoba Golf Classic and a T-10 at the Puerto Rico Open. His only made cut in five attempts at the Reno-Tahoe came last year, when he finished tie for 57th place.

Former Masters champion Larry Mize posted a final round of 3-under-par 69 to finish in a tie for 10th place at the Puerto Rico Open.

Mize bogeyed the third hole, but came back with four birdies for the rest of the round to finish in the tie to 10th place. The T-10 is his best finish since a T-9 at last year's Mayakoba Golf Classic and, if he chooses, it will gain him entry into the field of next week's Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

Forty-nine-year old Larry Mize posted a bogey-free, 5-under 65 in the first round of the Mayakoba Golf Classic.

Mize dropped five birdies on the par 70 layout today. It's his best round anywhere since the final round at last year's Mayakoba, where he finished T-9. Clearly, he's comfortable at El Camaleon so daily leagues should consider starting the Masters champ on Friday. But don't expect more of the same this season until he joins the Champions Tour. He'll be 50 on September 23.
