Marco Dawson was disqualified from the Puerto Rico Open when he didn't show for his tee time in today's second round.
Dawson was scheduled to go off the first tee at 8:00 a.m. local time. He opened the tournament with a 6-over-par 41-37=78 with one birdie, five bogeys and a double. He hit 10 greens in regulation. This is his seventh DQ in 413 PGA TOUR starts. The assumption is that he chose not to show out of apathy after the first round, but as we learned with Robert Allenby's incident on Oahu in January, there's no telling if Dawson is OK or if a personal matter may have taken priority and he didn't have time to alert tournament officials. If there's good news, it's that today's judgment won't affect most gamers. Look for him to continue his playing schedule on the Champions Tour. Fri, Mar 6, 2015 08:42:00 AM

Marco Dawson has been added to the published field of this week's Puerto Rico Open.

The 51-year-old was the first alternate when the field was released on Friday afternoon. He gained entry following three withdrawals this morning. If he honors this opportunity, Dawson will be making his season debut on the PGA TOUR. In fact, his last appearance on the circuit was at last year's Puerto Rico Open. The non-winner enjoyed a strong rookie season on the Champions Tour in 2014 and sits 27th on its money list this season.

Marco Dawson has been removed from the published field of this week's Barracuda Championship.

That he qualified on merit at the commitment deadline gives you some indication just how deep the tournament needed to go to fill the 132 spots. However, the 50-year-old is content with competing in this week's 3M Championship on the Champions Tour. Dawson is 33rd on the circuit's money list and 17th in Schwab Cup points. NOTE: Andre Stolz also withdrew as an alternate.

Marco Dawson has been added to the published field of this week's Puerto Rico Open.

Dawson started the week as the 16th alternate. He gained entry when Will Claxton withdrew and Skip Kendall passed on the opportunity to fill the vacancy. Since Dawson's last start on the PGA TOUR (T58, 2013 Sanderson Farms Championship), he turned 50 years of age and made his debut on the Champions Tour (T54, ACE Group Classic). He's a Veteran Member of the PGA TOUR having made the cut in 213 of 411 starts. Don't rule out a surprise this week given he's cashed in four of this five appearance at Trump International Golf Club-Puerto Rico. The odd finish out was a disqualification in 2009 when he signed an incorrect scorecard after an opening 72.

Marco Dawson turned in a 4-under-par 33-35=68 on the Palm Course in his opening round of the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Classic.

You'll recall that the veteran co-led The McGladrey Classic after his first-round 62. He'd go on to finish alone in 68th place. Perhaps this week's success out of the gate will lead to a better result. He could certainly use it coming into the week ranked 213th on the money list. He hit 14 greens and circled six birdies, and sits three strokes adrift of the clubhouse lead.

Overnight co-leader, Marco Dawson, settled for a 5-over-par 39-36=75 in his second round of The McGladrey Classic to reach the midpoint in 3-under 137, seven stroke off the 36-hole lead.

Boy, you could almost predict today's fade. Dawson is not one to marry low round of any kind, much less the type of loop that tied the course record on Thursday. In today's exercise, he went a mere 1-for-13 in birdie opportunites and amassed a whopping 37 putts, 14 more than Thursday.

Marco Dawson smoothed an 8-under-par 30-32=62 in his opening round of The McGladrey Classic to tie the course record and earn a share of the clubhouse lead with Bud Cauley.

This one is right out of a time machine. Dawson was a rookie on the PGA TOUR in 1991; he'll turn 49 years of age on Nov. 17. He's finished inside the top 105 on the money list just twice in his career. Today at Seaside, he hit 13 greens and totaled just 23 putts en route to a field-high nine birdies (at the time he signed his card). Five of those conversions dropped in from beyond 10 feet, including a 21'4" roll at the 12th hole and a 15-yard chip-in at 6. Even when his swing went awry, the putter answered. After finding water off the tee at the par-5 seventh, he'd eventually pour in a par save from 26'1". This

Marco Dawson settled for a 1-over-par 35-37=72 in his opening round of the News Sentinel Open on the Tour.

Dawson was in our crosshairs today because he withdrew during the weather delay in the second round of last week's Wyndham. He wasn't going to make the cut, but we make no assumptions as to the reasons guys call it quits during rounds. He erased four birdies with five bogeys at Fox Den Country Club in Knoxville, Tenn. today. He finished the regular season on the PGA TOUR ranked 222nd in FedExCup points and has banked just $62K in 18 starts.

Marco Dawson withdrew during his second round of the Wyndham Championship.

He teed off on the par-3 seventh hole -- his 16th of the day -- and didn't finish, perhaps opting not to return when play resumed at 6:30 p.m. ET after a 75-minute weather delay. Dawson was 2-over on the round and 7-over for the tournament, so he wasn't going to make the cut anyway, but if an explanation is released for his decision, we will relay it to you. Meanwhile, we'll keep an eye on him when he's expected to tee it up at the News Sentinel Open on the Tour next week.

Marco Dawson turned in a 5-under-par 31-36=67 for his opening round of the True South Classic, finishing one stroke off the clubhouse lead.

The 48-year-old has endured a rough return to fully exempt status on the PGA TOUR, cashing in just five of 14 starts but failing to post a top 50. Today's effort was special, however. He opened with a 13-yard, zero-putt birdie from just off the green at the par-4 first. After a par at 2, Dawson holed out for eagle from 123 yards at the par-4 third. He was bogey-free 6-under until suffering his only blemish of the round, a bogey-5 at No. 16.

Marco Dawson concluded his week at the John Deere Classic with a final-round 5-under-par 31-35=66.

Dawson circled seven birdies and squared two bogeys on his Sunday trip around TPC Deere Run. He split an impressive 12 (of 14) fairways and found 14 GIR, needing 27 putts to a 1.571 average. Finishing the week at 6-under 278, it was a success for the Q School grad to just find his way to the weekend. He snapped a streak of five missed cuts this week. He will now turn his attention to the True South Classic, where he is scheduled to compete.

Marco Dawson is in the midst of a disappointing season, but will try and turn things around at The Greenbrier Classic.

The 2012 Q School grad hasn't seen a weekend since his T60 at the Valero Texas Open back in April. His 168th ranking in the all-around category goes a long way towards explaining his lack of success. He has never played a competitive round at The Old White TPC.

Marco Dawson has been added to the published field of this week's Wells Fargo Championship.

Dawson was the second alternate when the field was released on Friday afternoon. He gained entry as one of three alternates this morning. He'll be making his return to Quail Hollow for the first time since finishing T63 in 2006. The 48-year-old is 4-for-9 this season with no top 50s.
Mon, Apr 30, 2012 10:48:00 AM

Marco Dawson has been added to the published field of this week's Shell Houston Open.

Dawson was the sixth alternate when the field was released on Friday afternoon. He gained entry when Davis Love III withdrew this afternoon. Dawson has zero top 50s among three paydays in six starts this year. He'll be making his 13th appearance at the SHO and first since a T47 in 2008.
Mon, Mar 26, 2012 04:23:00 PM

Marco Dawson was added on Monday to the field of the John Deere Classic.

Dawson started the week as the fourth alternate and he moved up a spot with the withdrawal of Jason Gore from the list. Dawson has two starts on this year's PGA TOUR and he has made the cut in both, with a best finish of T28 at the Puerto Rico Open.
