Alexandre Rocha has been removed from the published field of this week's Reno-Tahoe Open.
He'll compete in the Web.com Tour's Mylan Classic instead. The Brazilian ranks 25th on developmental circuit's money list, so it would be a surprise if he didn't play out the string on that tour. Mon, Jul 29, 2013 12:40:00 PM

Alexandre Rocha will tee it up in the Utah Championship this week.

Rocha is demonstrating quite a bit of discipline this week. With partial status on the PGA TOUR, he could have gotten into the field at the John Deere Classic, but has instead opted to chase his full status on the 2013-14 PGA TOUR via the Web.com Tour. He currently ranks 21st on the Web.com Tour money list, and the top 25 at year’s end will receive their PGA TOUR cards. It’s not unusual to hear a golfer comment that they will pass up on PGA TOUR opportunities to try and qualify this way, but often times they succumb to the lure of an instant gratification. We will have to wait and see how this plays out for him.

Alexandre Rocha makes his third start on the PGA TOUR in 2013 at this week's HP Byron Nelson Championship.

Rocha missed the cut at Pebble Beach and tied for 64th at Puerto Rico in his previous two starts this season. He's 2-for-2 in cashing checks at TPC Four Seasons, which may explain why he chose to take his chances this week instead of playing on the Web.com Tour this week where he has a much better chance at earning a PGA TOUR card for next year.

Alexandre Rocha is set to play in the 2013 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.

This will be the first start of the year for Rocha, playing with conditional status. With event entry hard to secure, it's important that he make the most of his time at Pebble Beach. That could be a problem, given he's batting zero for two in his first two trips to the Monterey Peninsula.

Quiet for most of the 2012 season, a late-season run has Alexandre Rocha up to 128th on the money list as he prepares for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Classic.

Rocha failed to crack the top 70 in 14 of his first 15 events, but something clicked at the Reno-Tahoe Open, as he lost to J.J. Henry in a playoff. Since then, he’s made three of four cuts including a T4 at the Frys.com Open to give himself a chance to avoid Q School with a solid finish this week. He will need at least a top-25 finish, and likely a third top 10, if he is to finish inside the top 125 on the money list.

Alexandre Rocha signed for a 3-under-par 33-35=68 in the final round of the Frys.com Open to tie for fourth at 14-under 270.

It marked the second time that Rocha notched a top five in 2012, as he lost in a playoff with J.J. Henry in the Reno-Tahoe Open in August. He finished the week with just three bogeys over 72 holes at CordeValle Golf Club, finishing the week second in Strokes Gained-Putting. He improved to 128th on the money list, giving him a realistic chance to move inside the coveted top 125 with a solid week at The McGladrey Classic.

Alexandre Rocha is in the mix for his second PGA TOUR top 10 after spinning a 5-under-par 32-34=66 in the third round of the Frys.com Open.

Rocha found six birdies in his navigation of CordeValle Golf Club, with his lone blemish a bogey at the par-3 11th. He's gotten it done with the flat stick and the irons, gaining an average of just under two strokes per round with the putter and landing 83.3 percent of his greens in regulation through 54 holes en route to an 11-under 202 mark. His lone top top 10 came at the Reno-Tahoe Open, when he failed to top J.J. Henry in a playoff. Entering the week 150th on the money list, his solid play is well timed.

Alexandre Rocha earned a career-best second-place finish at the Reno-Tahoe Open with his 9 points in the finale boosting him to 42 overall.

He ended up a lone point shy of J.J. Henry. Rocha circled five birdies and surrendered his lone bogey at the par-4 ninth hole. He led the field in both GIR and Strokes Gained-Putting. He is not in the field at the PGA Championship.

Alexandre Rocha put together a third round at the Reno-Tahoe Open, amassing 9 points to improve his total to 33.

Rocha circled five birdies to just one bogey. His ball-striking was rock solid, as he split 12 (of 14) fairways and landed 15 GIR. For the week, his 79.6 percent GIR is tied for the lead. He enters the final round in search of his first victory and second top 25 in 41 TOUR starts.

Alexandre Rocha has amassed 24 points through two rounds of the Reno-Tahoe Open, good for a 2-point lead entering the weekend.

The Modified Stableford scoring system was bound to create a unique leaderboard, but that the Brazilian sits atop it halfway through the tournament is one of the surprises of the year. He had cashed in just six of 15 starts and posted one top 70 (T49, True South Classic). Rocha tallied 16 points in today's second round at Montreux thanks to an eagle and seven birdies against three bogeys. At the time he signed his card, he also led the field in Strokes Gained-Putting with a clip north of 3.160.

Alexandre Rocha has yet to crack the top 70 in his sophomore year on the PGA TOUR, but will try and change that at The Greenbrier Classic.

In all, Rocha has made four (of 11) cuts, with his best finish a 73rd at the Wells Fargo. He's done little right, as he hasn't cracked the top 100 in any major statistical category. He missed the cut in the 2011 edition of The Greenbrier Classic.

Alexandre Rocha has been added to the published field of this week's Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

Rocha was the first alternate when the field was released on Friday afternoon. He gained entry due to a series of three removals from the field. The Brazilian is 1-for-6 this year with an MDF at Waialae. He hasn't broken 74 in his last 10 rounds on the PGA TOUR.

Alexandre Rocha is four strokes back of the 36-hole clubhouse lead of the Wyndham Championship after a pair of 4-under-par 66s.

The Brazilian has had a forgettable rookie season on the PGA TOUR, having cashed in just eight of 17 starts, none for a top 30. But it only takes one superb week to change a life and a career. He was bogey-free today with four birdies, including conversions of 19'11" and 25'8" at the 17th and fourth holes, respectively, but his highlight occurred at the par-4 second hole on Thursday where he holed out from 129 yards in the fairway for eagle.

Darkness suspended the second round of the Travelers Championship shortly after 8:00 p.m. ET.

Not a single weather delay today, so everyone in the late-early draw was able to complete 36 holes. The entire afternoon wave (minus Rocco Mediate who withdrew) was on the course when the horn sounded. One threesome has six holes to complete, while one three trio has finished only two holes. Play will resume on Saturday at 7:00 a.m. Tee times for the third round will be announced once the cut is made. Meanwhile, Alexandre Rocha followed his opening 65 with a 4-under-par 34-32=66 in his second round to reach the midpoint at 9-under 131, four back of the 36-hole clubhouse lead. He circled five birdies against just one bogey.
