Todd Hamilton has been added to the published field of this week's Reno-Tahoe Open.
Hamilton was one of three alternates to receive a tee time at Montreux this week due to a smattering of withdrawals. He's also scheduled to compete in the Web.com Tour's Mylan Classic, but his chances of cracking the top 200 in FedExCup points (currently 251st with one point) versus the top 75 in Web.com Tour earnings (162nd) are equally as difficult. Todd Hamilton signed for a 2-under-par 36-33=69 following his opening round of The Open Championship.

The 2004 Open champion hadn't broken par in this tournament since a second-round 71 at Royal Liverpool in 2006, and he hadn't gone sub-70 since closing out his title at Royal Troon with a 69. Today Hamilton split nine (of 14) fairways and hit 13 greens in regulation en route to four birdies against two bogeys. He's three swings adrift of the clubhouse lead.

Todd Hamilton returns to Illinois for the John Deere Classic.

While he now resides in Texas, Hamilton was born in Galesburg, Illinois and has played in every edition of the event at TPC Deere Run dating back to 2004. During those stops, he's cracked the top 30 on six occasions. His only previous PGA TOUR start this year was a missed cut at Pebble Beach.

Todd Hamilton opened the WNB Golf Classic on the Web.com Tour with a bogey-free, 6-under-par 34-32=66, good for a piece of the overnight lead.

The 47-year-old is biding his time in Europe in and around pop-up starts on the PGA TOUR and now a growing schedule on the Web.com Tour for which the WNB marks his third event of the season. Prior to a T21 in Panama in February, he hadn't played the developmental circuit since it was known as the Ben Hogan Tour in 1991. Today at Midland (Tex.) Country Club, he circled three birdies each on par 4s and par 5s. Thanks to his lone payday in Panama -- he missed the cut in Colombia the following week -- he's entered the week at 110th on the money list.

Hamilton was the eighth alternate when the field was released on Friday afternoon, and he climbed to third alternate after today's field changes, but he was given the last sponsor exemption into the tournament. He finished second-to-last at CordeValle on Sunday. Now 180th on the money list, the two-time PGA TOUR winner will turn 47 years of age on Thursday.

Todd Hamilton has been added to the published field of this week's Frys.com Open.

Hamilton was the second alternate when the field was released on Friday afternoon, but there was only one withdrawal this morning, which Joe Durant filled, so Hamilton likely received the final sponsor exemption. He's split time on the PGA TOUR (eight starts) with starts in Europe and Asia this year. Overall, he's 5-for-17. Both of his top 25s were on the PGA TOUR where he ranks 178th in earnings.

Todd Hamilton added 7 points in the final round of the Reno-Tahoe Open to finishe the week inside the top 10 with 30 points.

Hamilton found four birdies to just one bogey in his final trip around Montreux Golf & Country Club. His 11 GIR resulted in 26 putts. This week marks the first time he's cracked a top 10 since the 2009 Heritage where he tied for fourth.

Todd Hamilton scored 9 points in his opening round of the Reno-Tahoe Open, finishing five points back of the clubhouse lead.

Hamilton is 2-for-6 on the PGA TOUR this year. He's 1-for-7 in starts on other tours as he juggles what status he has remaining globally. At Montreux Golf and Country Club today, he hit 13 greens and buried five birdies before swallowing his only bogey of the day at the par-3 16th hole.

Todd Hamilton, winner of the 2004 British Open at Royal Troon, will tee it up at this week's British Open.

While he didn't play in the 2001 trip to Royal Lytham and St. Annes, he did manage to finish 45th in 1996. In Hamilton's seven attempts to claim the Claret Jug for a second time after his win, he has managed to cash just twice and has not cracked the top 30.

Todd Hamilton has been added to the published field of this week's HP Byron Nelson Championship.

Hamilton was the first alternate when the field was released on Friday afternoon. He gained entry when Spencer Levin withdrew this morning. Hamilton is 1-for-2 with a T12 in Puerto Rico this year. He'll be competing in his ninth consecutive appearance at the Nelson; however, his only top-55 payday was a T18 in 2005.

Todd Hamilton's final round of 3-under-par 33-36=69 at the Puerto Rico Open will mark his highest finish on the PGA TOUR since the 2009 Verizon Heritage.

The former Open Champion finished the week with a 9-under total of 68-69-73-69=279. The difference came with the putter, as he finished the week with 1.723 putts per GIR. He is not currently in the field at the Transitions Championship, but that could change if he slides into the top 10 at the end of the day.

Todd Hamilton backed up his opening 68 at the Puerto Rico Open with a 3-under-par 35-34=69 in his second round to reach the halfway mark in 7-under 137, four strokes off the 36-hole clubhouse lead.

Hamilton has averaged one occurrence of consecutive sub-70 rounds per year since 2010. That he reached this season's quota today is mildly concerning as it relates to the weekend. He didn't incur his first bogey of the week until his eighth hole today -- No. 17 at Trump International -- and he offset two in the round with five birdies. Overall, he's missed 10 greens in regulation, so his scrambling is spot on thus far.

Todd Hamilton carded a bogey-free, 4-under-par 34-34=68 in his opening round of the Puerto Rico Open, finishing two strokes back of the clubhouse co-leaders.

Hamilton has virtually zero fantasy value. That's evident by the fact that he was the second alternate for this week's opposite event. Yet, he's still quite capable of piecing together good golf. He split 10 (of 14) fairways and hit 14 greens today en route to four birdies. Temper your enthusiasm, however, as he hasn't had a top 20 on the PGA TOUR in 35 months.

Hamilton was the second alternate when the field was released on Friday afternoon. He gained entry due to three withdrawals this morning. In his only start of 2012, he missed the cut at the Mayakoba. He's 1-for-3 in Puerto Rico with a T42 last year.
