Making his tournament debut, World No. 647 Tag Ridings carded a 2-under-par 34-35=69 in the final round of the Barbasol Championship to wrap on 19-under 265, good for a season-best T3, two back of champion Grayson Murray, who shot 68.
This was the 42-year-old's 236th career TOUR start, fourth career top-3 finish, and was just shy of a career-best T2 at the 2004 Michelin Championship. It's his second top 25 among 12 cashes this season in 17 starts and first top 10, replacing a previous-best T11 at the Zurich (teamed with Xander Schauffele), and a T35 individually at the Safeway Open. After kicking off in 66-67-63, the Arkansas alum began T3, two shy of 54-hole leader Scott Stallings. Playing out of the final threesome, he was bogey-free 4-under thru 15 holes, circling Nos. 6, 10 (from 16'0"), 13 and 14, before eating a disastrous double bogey-7 at 16, hitting his second OB and then 3-putting from 49'7". Ridings hit nine (of 14) fairways and 15 greens in regulation, losing 2.292 strokes approaching-the-green but gaining 1.006 on-the-green, No. 1 in SG: Putting with a cumulative 8.485. This is Ridings' first top-3 finish on TOUR since T3 at the 2007 Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. Sun, Jul 23, 2017 06:28:00 PM

Making his tournament debut, World No. 647 Tag Ridings painted a season-low 8-under-par 31-32=63 in the third round of the Barbasol Championship to post 17-under 196, up three places to T3, two shy of 54-hole leader Scott Stallings.

This is the 42-year-old's 236th career TOUR start and the highest up the leaderboard he's been thru 54 holes since T1 at the 2008 Turning Stone Championship, where he crated to T27 with a closing 7-over 79. This is his 17th start of the season and 50th lap, smashing a previous-best 67 shot three times, most recently in R1 at the Greenbrier two starts ago, where he MC'd. The Tour grad opened in 66-67, and conjured six (of 14) fairways and 12 greens in regulation, posting 1.333 putts per GIR and 4.271 SG: Putting, No. 1 for the week in both of the latter. He squared three bogey-5, offset by five birdies and eagle-3 at five from 5'0". The Arkansas alum's career best on TOUR is T2 at the 2004 Michelin Championship.

Tag Ridings returns to TPC Southwind for a 10th appearance at this week's FedEx St. Jude Classic.

The University of Arkansas alum is 5-for-9 here with three top 30s to his name, although nothing inside the top 20. The Tour graduate is 9-for-12 this season and currently ranks 162nd in the FedExCup standings. Other than the Zurich Classic team event, Ridings hasn't been inside the top 10 after any round since the 2013 where he finished T9. While his upside may not be there, gamers should give him a look in deeper fantasy leagues.

Tag Ridings partnered with Xander Schauffele to fire a 4-under-par 34-34=68 during round one at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, sharing a piece of seventh place after day one.

This duo got their week started on the 10th tee and got the scoring started with a 35'2" birdie bomb at the par-5 11th. They added a second birdie two holes later, this one from 10'10" beforing cruising to the turn with all pars. The pairing would add three more birdies before their day was done, swallowing just one blemish along the way, finding trouble off the tee at the par-4 fifth hole. While Schauffele is making his debut at TPC Louisiana, Ridings arrived with seven visits to the Pete Dye design, missing the cut in five of those visits, with the clear highlight being a T26 in 2011. After foursomes today, the format will now shift to four-ball on Friday.

Tag Ridings collected two paychecks in three events during the fall wraparound schedule, and will head into 2017 ranked 127th in the FedExCup race.

The three-time Tour graduate (2002, 2010, 2016) entered the season with a 107-for-119 record on the PGA TOUR. He spent the last two years honing his craft on the Tour (32-for-47 during that time). The early returns are promising for the 42-year-old as he's posted a T35 at the Safeway Open and a T36 at The RSM Classic, with one missed cut sandwiched in between. In 647 career rounds he's held the lead or co-lead after just two of them. At this stage in his career, gamers know what they are getting with Ridings, keeping his value limited to deeper formats like DFS.

Beginning off No. 10 tee, alternate Tag Ridings crafted a 2-under-par 36-34=70 in the weather-delayed second round of the Safeway Open to reach 6-under 138, up seven spots on the live leaderboard to T8.

The 42-year-old was a game-day entry replacing Billy Hurley III who WD prior to his first-round tee time. He regained status via the Tour Finals but is 47th (of 50) in the priority rankings. Making his first start on the PGA TOUR since a MC at the 2015 FedEx St. Jude Classic, the Texas native opened his third appearance with a two-bogey six-birdie 68 and chased with two bogeys against four birdies on day 2 with preferred lies in effect. He landed eight (of 14) fairways and mustered 12 greens in regulation, posting 1.667 putts per GIR for a second straight lap.

Tag Ridings torched the Scarlet Course at The Ohio State University Golf Club en route to a 6-under-par 34-31=65 during the second round of the Nationwide Children's Hospital Championship, sharing the clubhouse lead with Martin Flores on 8-under 134.

The 42-year-old started the week ranked 36 in The Finals 25 as he attempts to play his way back onto the PGA TOUR. He made great progress today as he circled seven birdies while swallowing just one bogey on the way, despite landing just 11 greens in regulation. His 6-for-7 scrambling effort included a hole out from the rough at the par-4 10th to open his round. Ridings owns a 107-for-219 record on the PGA TOUR but hasn't played on the big stage since a missed cut at the 2015 FedEx St. Jude Classic.

Tag Ridings completed 36 holes of the FedEx St. Jude Classic in 8-over-par 75-73=148 and will miss the cut.

He barely had a chip and a chair. This marked the only start on a Non-exempt Medical Extension for the 40-year-old. To fulfill its terms for a promotion to the Major Medical category, he needed to find $658,698 or 396.352 FedExCup points. Short of that, he'd have secured conditional status with 281.013 FedExCup points. Instead, he'll head back to a full schedule on the Tour where he's 78th on the money list.

Tag Ridings is in the books as the 18-hole leader of the United Leasing Championship on the Tour at 5-under-par 35-32=67.

The 40-year-old journeyman birdied half of the holes at Victoria National Golf Club in Newburgh, Indiana, today. He missed only three greens in regulation but still figured out a way to square four bogeys. Luke List and Michael Hebert share second place one stroke in arrears. Ridings still has a shred of PGA TOUR status, believe it or not, although it always seems like he's hanging on in some fashion. Indeed, he has one start on a Non-exempt Medical Extension to earn $658,698 or 396.253 FedExCup points for a promotion to the Major Medical category. That would require a victory at most tournaments for which he'd receive a multiple-year exemption, anyway. Ridings is winless in 218 PGA TOUR starts, so it would be a helluva story if he finds paydirt on the only start provided via the medical.

Tag Ridings will have one start on a Non-exempt Medical Extension to collect $658,698 or 396.253 FedExCup points and get promoted to the Major Medical category.

Those are the official targets, but for all intents and purposes, Ridings would probably have to win to meet those terms. Of course, if that happens -- he's winless in 218 PGA TOUR starts -- then he'd receive a plethora of other perks on top of a two-year exemption anyway. He received the medical for a back injury after making just 12 starts on conditional status. He cashed in four of his first five, and then missed the cut in his last seven. If you're in a league that drafts every golfer with a shred of status that played at least once in 2013-14, then Ridings gets the treatment infamously reserved for the worst athlete in gym class; that is, he'd get picked last. Among all that fit that criteria, his fantasy value is nearest zero.

Tag Ridings has his sights set on a 2014-15 PGA TOUR card at this week's Tour Championship.

Ridings ranks 26th on the Tour Finals money list of players not already fully exempt for the 2014-15 PGA TOUR season. He must crack the top 25 on that list if he is to return to the PGA TOUR for another stint. His T12 at the Nationwide Children's Hospital Championship is his second top-25 finish of the Finals. A third would likely be good enough for a coveted card.

Tag Ridings has been removed from the published field of this week's Wyndham Championship.

Ridings missed the final seven cuts of his season and sits 219th in the FedExCup standings. He survived just four of 12 cuts overall. And at 197th on the Tour money list in five starts, he's headed for Q School.

Tag Ridings has been added to the published field of this week's Greenbrier Classic.

The soon-to-be 40-year-old (Sept. 7) started the week as the eighth alternate, but gained entry when Jerry Kelly withdrew and alternates Fabian Gomez and Greg Owen elected to remain committed to the Nova Scotia Open on the Tour. In fact, Ridings was also in the field in Canada before his number was called for Greenbrier today. He's 4-for-8 on the season without a top 40 and ranks 210th in FedExCup points. But if you're curious why he's choose to play this week, his only top 10 on the PGA TOUR since 2010 is a T9 at last year's stop at The Old White TPC.

Tag Ridings has been added to the published field of this week's FedEx St. Jude Classic.

Ridings was the second alternate when the field was released on Friday afternoon. He gained entry with several withdrawals today. Saddled with conditional status, he's just 4-for-6 on the season and sits 207th in FedExCup points. He's also cashed just once in four tries on the Tour this season. If there's a glint of good news, the journeyman has survived the cut in each of his last three appearances at TPC Southwind dating back to 2009.

Tag Ridings has been added to the published field of this week's Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

Ridings was the fourth alternate when the field was released on Friday afternoon. He gained entry when Chesson Hadley withdrew today. Ridings is 3-for-4 on the season but has finished no better than T55 at the Farmers. He's cashed only once in six appearances at TPC Louisiana (T26, 2011).
