He was the first alternate when the field was released on Friday afternoon. Imada then gained entry with today's first wave of withdrawals. He's 0-for-1 on the season and also missed the cut in the first two Web.com Tour events this year. This will mark his first start at Pebble Beach since he logged a personal-best T40 in 2013.

Ryuji Imada returns for his 12th appearance at this week's Sony Open in Hawaii.

Imada has missed the cut just twice at Waialae Country Club, compiling three top 25s along the way. He is still reaping the rewards from his 2008 AT&T Classic victory as he plays via Past Champion status. Imada stays busy overseas, but hasn't been in form lately. He enters the week with missed cuts in eight of his last 10 international starts.

Ryuji Imada scratched out a 4-under-par 33-33=66 in his opening round of the Wyndham Championship, good for outright possession of the early clubhouse lead.

Imada went out in the second threesome off the first tee at Sedgefield today and promptly buried a birdie from 10'3" at the par-4 opener. He'd hit only 10 greens in regulation during his walk, but suffered just one bogey after missing the green well left at the par-3 seventh. Elsewhere, he added four birdies, including rolls of 13'11" and 14'3" at Nos. 3 and 16, respectively. At 195th in the FedExCup standings upon arrival, he'd probably need to win to qualify for the Playoffs, but today all but secured a berth in the Web.com Tour Finals, which was the primary objective.

Ryuji Imada has been added to the published field of this week's RBC Canadian Open.

Imada was the third alternate when the field was released on Friday afternoon. He was one of many to gain entry when several withdrew this morning. The one-time PGA TOUR winner is 3-for-6 this season on Past Champion status. He's 193rd in the FedExCup standings, so his primary goal is to remain inside the top 200 and qualify for the Web.com Tour Finals.

Ryuji Imada has been added to the published field of this week's Travelers Championship.

Imada was the second alternate when the field was released on Friday afternoon. He gained entry due to three withdrawals today. The one-time PGA TOUR winner is 3-for-4 on the season and sits 190th in FedExCup points, so he's currently projected to qualify for the Web.com Tour Finals. However, TPC River Highlands hasn't been friendly. In five starts, he has one forgettable payday (T43, 2009).

Ryuji Imada has been added to the published field of this week's FedEx St. Jude Classic.

The one-time PGATOUR winner started the week as the 11th alternate. He gained entry when Erik Compton withdrew today. Imada is 2-for-3 this season with a T20 at the Sony Open. At 195th in FedExCup points, he's inside the bubble to qualify for the Web.com Tour Finals, but playing time will be an issue all summer. While he's missed the cut in his last two trips to TPC Southwind, he placed T3 in 2011. It's his most recent of seven career top threes.

Ryuji Imada has secured just his third start of the 2013-14 PGA TOUR season at the HP Byron Nelson Championship.

Considering he's playing on Past Champion status, his ability to sneak into the field most weeks is limited to open qualifiers. Fortunately for him, his deep number was called this week. At 191st in the FedExCup standings, his first priority is earning enough FEC points to hold on to a spot in the top 200 for a berth in the Web.com Finals. He's made each of his two cuts this season, with a T20 at the Sony Open the highlight.

Ryuji Imada submitted a 3-under-par 33-34=67 for his opening round of the Sony Open in Hawaii, good for very early possession of the clubhouse lead.

In the field on a sponsor exemption, the one-time PGA TOUR winner went out in the first threesome off the first tee at Waialae Country Club today. He split only five (of 14) fairways and hit 10 greens, but he was perfect under 14 feet. In fact, all 17 of his conversions measured less than 10 feet. Half of his four birdies came on the pair 5s and he limited the negative to a lone bogey at the par-4 13th hole.

Ryuji Imada was granted a sponsor exemption into the Sony Open this week.

Imada has been relegated to Past Champion status after failing to finish inside the top 125 on the PGA TOUR money list or the FedExCup standings in 2013. In 10 previous trips to Waialae Country Club, he has made the cut on eight occasions and finished inside the top 25 twice. While his starts will be limited, the good news is that any money he earns or FedExCup points he accumulates will be considered official.

Ryuji Imada has been added to the published field of this week's FedEx St. Jude Classic.

Imada was the first alternate when the field was released on Friday afternoon. He gained entry thanks to four withdrawals. He's cashed just once in four starts this year. Strapped with Past Champion status, he's competed in four Web.com Tour events as well. TPC Southwind has been kind to the one-time PGA TOUR winner. He's 4-for-5 with four top 30s, including a T3 in 2011.

Ryuji Imada has gained entry into this week's Puerto Rico Open.

Imada started the week as the fifth alternate. He earned a tee time at Trump International when Chris DiMarco withdrew. (Rocco Mediate was fourth alternate but withdrew early in the week.) Relegated to Past Champion status this season, Imada's only payday in two starts is a T40 at Pebble Beach. He'll be making his debut in Puerto Rico.

Ryuji Imada posted a 5-under-par 34-31=65 at Monterey Peninsula Country Club's Shore Course in his opening round of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.

MPCC rivals Pebble Beach as the easiest track of the rotation, so Imada can call today a success. He converted six birdies, including at his final three holes (Nos. 7, 8 and 9) to run through the tape and sit one stroke adrift of the clubhouse lead. He'll tangle with Spyglass Hill on Friday.
