Paul Azinger withdrew on Tuesday morning from the Buick Open.

Azinger has played in a handful of events this season, but his only made cut was at the Sony, where he tied for 69th place.

Paul Azinger was disqualified from the Travelers Championship late today for playing with a non-conforming ball.

Azinger's Callaway ball, which he used when it was legal earlier in the year, was added to the nonconforming list on June 3. (Although it is not known if Azinger's situation is related, there was a batch of Callaway balls with a single "i" stamp that were found to be too heavy, so Callaway released a conforming double "i" stamp and requested that the single "i" model be added to the nonconforming list.) Unfortunately for Azinger, this does it for his medical extension. He turns 50 on January 6 so don't expect to see much more of him on the PGA Tour, not that he was a mainstay or had any fantasy value since 2006 anyway.

Paul Azinger posted a 2-under-par 34-34=68 in the opening round of the Travelers Championship.

Azinger hasn't played since missing the cut at the Transitions three months ago, but needs to finish no worse than solo 2nd this week to retain Major Medical status. If he fails, he'll be relegated to Past Champion status for the remainder of the year. Azinger's last top-2 was a T-2 at the 2001 Memorial.

Paul Azinger is listed in the published field of next week's Travelers Championship.

Well, we'll see. Azinger hasn't competed for three months, which might be due to a hand injury he suffered before Bay Hill. He's a two-time winner of the Travelers (1987, '89) and would be making his 22nd appearance in the event. He hasn't cashed in it since 2005, however.

Paul Azinger withdrew late on Wednesday from the Arnold Palmer Invitational, citing a hand injury.

It's been a very slow start to the season for Azinger, with his only made cut in four starts, a T-69 at the Sony Open. His final start via a medical extension will have to wait.

Paul Azinger completed 36 holes of the Transitions Championship in 6-over-par and will miss the cut.

Azinger hit just 15 GIR in his two tours of Copperhead, so the result is hardly a shocker. This leaves him with one start on his medical extension to earn $557,721 and retain Major Medical status. If he falls short but can bank $271,738, he'll have Conditional status for the remainder of the season. He's scheduled to play in next week's Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Paul Azinger followed an opening 67 with a 5-over-par 76 in the second round of the Northern Trust Open, and will miss the cut.

Azinger hit four fewer GIR (nine) yet needed five more putts (32) than the totals from his opening round, and managed just one birdie today. The missed cut drops him to two starts on his medical extension to earn $557,721.

Paul Azinger finished two rounds of the FBR Open in 1-over-par, missing the cut by one stroke.

Azinger hardly pings the fantasy radar (he hasn't had a Top 25 since the 2007 Sony), but he still has status via a Major Medical extension, although it is evaporating quickly. The missed cut this week leaves him with three starts to earn $557,721.

Paul Azinger withdrew late on Tuesday from the 50th Bob Hope Classic.

Azinger played in last week's Sony Open and finished in a tie for 69th place.

Paul Azinger posted a final round of 1-over-par 71 and finished in a tie for 69th place at the Sony Open.

Azinger is playing on a Major Medical Extension this season and the check for $10,800 leaves him with 4 starts to make $557,721.

Paul Azinger said today that he will not return at the captain for the U.S. squad at the Ryder Cup in 2010 at Celtic Manor in Wales.

"It ain't gonna be me," Azinger told The Associated Press on Monday. "I am not the captain." The PGA of America will announce the captain on Thursday in New York; Corey Pavin is the leading candidate. Meanwhile, it was announced last week that Azinger signed with IMG, which could lead to a return to the broadcast booth among other opportunities. Azinger will turn 49 on January 6 and will begin his competitive schedule with what's left of his Major Medical Extension. It gives him five starts to earn $568,521 before he's relegated to Past Champion status.

Paul Azinger shot 4-under-par 69-71=140 and will miss the cut at the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.

This was Azinger's first action since the PGA Championship since he was otherwise occupied captaining the United States Ryder Cup team. The missed cut leaves him with five starts on his medical extension to earn $568,521. He doesn't turn 50 until January 2010 and has already burned his one-time Top-50 career money list exemption; therefore, unless he can bank $282,538 to secure conditional status, Azinger will settle for unlimited sponsor's exemptions on Past Champion status for the majority of 2009.

Paul Azinger posted a final round of 5-over-par 75 and finished in a tie for 63rd place at the PGA Championship.

Azinger has been playing on a Major Medical extension and today's check for $14,500 leaves him with six starts to earn $568,521 to extend his status though the rest of the 2008 season.
Sun, Aug 10, 2008 10:11:00 PM

Paul Azinger 80-78=158 at the Memorial, missing the cut by eight strokes.

Azinger hit just 13 GIR in two rounds (including a mere three on Thursday) en route to his sixth consecutive event without a paycheck. It leaves him with seven events on his medical extension to earn $583,021, a monumental task based on his play this year.
