Lee Williams turned in a 3-under-par 34-33=67 for his opening round of the HP Byron Nelson Championship and sits two strokes off the clubhouse lead.

At 196th in the FedExCup standings, Williams has nowhere to go but up. He's cashed only four of 11 times this season, but none went for a top 40. Today's aggregate matches his season low and featured a wicked-hot putter. He converted everything over which he stood inside 13 feet, including a par save from 12'4" at the par-4 11th, his second hole of the loop. Among his five birdies were rolls from 15'4", 32'4" and 16 feet at Nos. 14, 16 and 6, respectively. At the time he signed his card, his strokes gained-putting split sat in the vicinity of 4.325.

Lee Williams is back for a second helping at this week's Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

Williams made his Zurich debut last year with a 68th place finish. He currently sits toward the bottom of the Web.com grad reshuffle and could use a nice boost. Unfortunately, an average driving distance of 271 yards (196th on TOUR) is going to make a good finish on this lengthy course just out of reach.

After missing the cut in the 2013 Valero Texas Open, Lee Williams is back for vengeance this week.

Williams enters ranked 181st in the FedExCup standings and is subject to the Web.com Tour reshuffle, meaning every opportunity to gather FEC points is a precious one. His most recent start came at the Puerto Rico Open, where he notched a season-best tie for 43rd. He'll attempt to cash a check for the fourth time in nine starts when the tournament kicks off on Thursday.

Lee Williams tied for 37th as a rookie in the 2013 Humana Challenge, and is back for another dose this week.

Williams only owns one finish better than his result in this event last year, and that was a T33 in the 2013 John Deere Classic. Considering he maneuvered Palmer Private at PGA West, Nicklaus Private at PGA West, and La Quinta Country Club to the tune of 17-under-par, he has to be licking his chops. The only drawback could be that he places too much pressure on himself to perform this week.

Lee Williams failed to retain his PGA TOUR card during his rookie season of 2013, but managed to earn a return trip via the four-tournament Web.com Tour Finals.

Williams' rookie season included nine paydays in 22 tries, but he failed to scratch out a top 25. Forced into the qualifying series to attempt to regain status, he tied for 18th in the first event before missing the next two cuts. A clutch T8 at the Web.com Tour Championship was just enough for him to find his way back to the big stage. He's responded by making two of his first three cuts in the Fall Series, but failed to crack a top 50. It seems the learning curve is continuing to be a slow climb.

Lee Williams shot a 3-under-par 34-34=68 in his opening round of the Frys.com Open.

Back inside PGA TOUR ropes thanks to the Web.com Tour Finals, the 31-year-old started the 2013-14 season strong today. He hit 14 greens and erased a lone bogey with four birdies, including respective conversions from 22'8" and 10 feet at holes 17 and 7. He was the last of 18 to conclude the first round inside the top 10 on the leaderboard. Williams is four strokes off the overnight lead.

Lee Williams enters the Wyndham Championship with his PGA TOUR card hanging in the balance.

Williams must find a way to finish inside the top 125 on either the money list or the FedExCup Standings when he departs Sedgefield Country Club, or he's headed to the four-tournament Web.com Tour playoffs to try and regain status. Currently 181 in the FEC standings and 193 on the money list, he needs to focus on winning the tournament. Considering he doesn't even have a top-25 finish in 2013, he better have his bags packed for the Web.com playoffs and not The Barclays.

Lee Williams has missed three of his last four cuts of 2013 leading up to The Greenbrier Classic.

Williams started the season off on the right foot, posting top-50 finishes in his first two starts. Since then, he's added just one additional top 50. At 183rd in the FedExCup standings, he has his hands full if he is to make a run and earn a spot in the Playoffs.

Lee Williams has made half of his 12 cuts ahead of his maiden voyage to the HP Byron Nelson Championship.

Williams is still in search of his first top-35 finish in his rookie season, with a T37 at the Humana Challenge his best effort. He is trending upward, making the cut in his last three starts culminating with a T43 at the Wells Fargo Championship two weeks ago. While this week's field isn't the strongest, there still isn't enough of a reason to buy to much stock in him at TPC Four Seasons.

He'll be making his debut at Harbour Town where the field is now complete at 144.

Lee Williams’ rookie campaign continues at this week’s Shell Houston Open.

Williams hasn’t enjoyed much success to date, making just three of seven cuts and only one of his last five. He currently ranks 140th in the all-around ranking, and doesn’t rank inside the top 140 in driving distance, driving accuracy, GIR or strokes gained-putting. Something needs to click quickly.

Lee Williams carded a 4-under-par 33-33=66 at Monterey Peninsula Country Club's Shore Course in the opening round of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.

The rookie is a quiet 2-for-3 on the young season but this is already his seventh sub-70 score in 11 rounds. He buried five birdies to erase a lone bogey. Williams signed his card sitting two strokes off the clubhouse lead. He'll try to keep the rally rolling at Spyglass Hill in the second round.
