Peter Lawrie has not been seen on a leaderboard for a long, long time, but changed that with a 3-under-par 35-34=69 in the second round Trophée Hassan II.
The Irishman heads into the weekend T5 on 4-under 139, two off the lead, and will be hoping to kickstart a career that has had a significant period of stagnation. His last top ten finish on the European Tour came in June 2013 and his last top five was even further back, in November 2012. If he is to change that this weekend it might be down to his short game, after he saved par 10 times from 13 missed greens in the opening rounds, and required just 55 putts. On Friday he ticked red numbers at 12, 14, 16, 1 and 5, chalking bogeys at 4 and 7. Fri, May 6, 2016 02:11:00 PM

Boosted by an eagle-3 at the 6th hole, Peter Lawrie shot a 5-under-par 36-30=66 in his opening round at the Made In Denmark at Himmerland Golf & Spa Resort.

Lawrie was lost in the pack after a single bogey at 13 combined with a double bogey-6 at 17 on his first nine. But a birdie at No. 1, which got him back to even par, acted as a spark and he added three more at 4, 5 and 8 and also posted an eagle-3 at the par-5 6th to finish his round just three behind clubhouse leader David Horsey. The Irishman split 9 (of 14) fairways and hit 15 greens in regulation.

With an eventful 1-under-par 36-35=71 in round two, Peter Lawrie held his place in the top 10 at the Lyoness Open in Austria.

The Irishman circled six birdies at Diamond Country Club on Friday morning but swallowed five bogeys too and sits at 5-under 139 at the midpoint. That's seven off the lead. Lawrie never went more than two holes without either a birdie or a bogey but will have been disappointed to sign off with a dropped shot at nine after a run of three par breakers in four holes on his second nine. The 41-year-old has managed just a single top 20 on the European Tour this season so will be particularly keen to build upon his strong start and secure a big finish. The 2003 Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year currently slots in at 131st on the Race To Dubai.

Peter Lawrie has 31 pars on his scorecard after 36 holes of the Hero Indian Open at Delhi Golf Club.

The Irishman backed up his opening 69 with a 1-under-par 35-35=70 to reach 3-under at the midpoint. It may be six off the pace but, with the second round coming to a close, he has just seven players above him on the leaderboard. Par golf is serving Lawrie just fine so far. He had 16 in round one and 15 today. The three exceptions were birdies at 1 and 12 while his sole bogey of the tournament came at 14. He's hit 14 greens in regulation in both rounds and is a combined 7-for-8 in scrambling.

Peter Lawrie authored a 6-under-par 33-33=66 to jump 26 spots and take a share of fourth spot at the halfway mark of the Maybank Malaysian Open.

The Irishman lost his card after a disappointing 2014 campaign and failed to come through Q School by a single shot. But he's in the mix going into the weekend at Kuala Lumpur G&CC after reaching 7-under 137 at the midpoint. The 40-year-old made his move with a trio of birdies at two, three and four; he kicked on again with par breakers at 10, 15 and 17. Lawrie, who has had just one bogey over the first 36 holes, said after his round, "I’m delighted to be here and very lucky to have received a sponsor’s invite, so I thank Maybank for that. To shoot 66 today was wonderful. I’ve been in the doldrums for the past 20-odd months, since the Irish Open in 2013. It’s been a long wait, but hopefully I can keep my name up there."
