Josh Teater opened the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial with a 5-under-par 35-30=65, finishing three strokes off the clubhouse lead.
If you were expecting a letdown following Monday's medalist bid at the 36-hole qualifier for The Open Championship, think ahead. Teater hit 15 greens at Colonial today and circled seven birdies. His set included conversions from 18'3" at the second hole and 15'5" at 7. He incurred bogeys at Nos. 4 and 5, the second of which as a result of a three-putt from just inside 53 feet. Today's score is his lowest opening aggregate since last year's stop at Pebble Beach over 15 months ago. May 23 - 6:42 PM

Josh Teater completed 36 holes of International Final Qualifying-America in 7-under-par 64-69=133, good for medalist honors and a berth into The Open Championship.

Eight exemptions into the field at Muirfield on July 18-21 were on the line at Gleneagles Golf & Country Club in Dallas today. Teater circled 12 birdies against three bogeys and a double to secure his first start in a major. Camilo Villegas and Johnson Wagner shared runner-up honors at 6-under 68-66=134. Scott Brown (71-64) tied for fourth with Brian Davis (66-69) at 5-under 135. Brown went bogey-free in his second round with two eagles and two birdies; Davis converted nine birdies in his first round, including six in a row at one point. The final three golfers were decided in a four-way playoff. Robert Karlsson (4-under 67-69=136), Bud Cauley (70-66=136) and Luke Guthrie (65-71=136) survived with pars on the first extra hole. Andres Echavarria (67-69=136) bogeyed the playoff hole. The last of the IFQs will be contested in England on June 24.

Josh Teater crafted a bogey-free, 5-under-par 33-34=67 in his second round of the Shell Houston Open.

As today's morning wave reaches the clubhouse, his score is easily the lowest of the draw thus far. He hit 15 greens in regulation and bured five birdies, three of which dropping in from 10-13 feet. After opening with a 74, he's 3-under 141 at the midpoint, four strokes adrift of the 36-hole clubhouse lead.

Josh Teater has a couple of top 20s in three trips to the Shell Houston Open and is looking for something similar this week.

Teater’s season has followed a series of bell curves, with his T27 at Bay Hill following a 77th at the Tampa Bay Championship. Given his history at Redstone and the rhythm of his season, it’s reasonable to expect a nice week for a guy who already owns two top-10 finishes this season. At 25th in driving distance and 33rd in strokes gained putting, he’s got the goods to make a run this week.

Josh Teater ended his week at the Northern Trust Open with some fireworks in his 2-under-par 34-35=69.

Teater had a rather quiet 1-under front nine before seemingly falling out of contention with a double-bogey six at the par-4 10th. He would trade a birdie at 14 with a bogey on 15, but drained a 10'11" eagle on the par-5 17th and a 23-foot birdie on the par-4 18th to finish his round well inside the top 10 at 9-under 275. He is not in the field for the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship.
Feb 17 - 6:32 PM

Josh Teater vaulted up the leaderboard thanks to a 3-under-par 33-35=68 in the third round of the Northern Trust Open and will try and chase down his first PGA TOUR victory in Sunday's final round.

Teater jumped out of the gates with an eagle from 5'11" on the par-5 first. He would trade a birdie at the par-4 fifth for a bogey at the par-4 seventh to turn in 2-under. Things got busy on the back nine, circling birdies on the 10th, 12th, 13th and 17th holes, but giving back strokes on the par-5 11th and the par-4 15th and par-4 18th. Three of his five birdies were outside of 12 feet. He enters the final round at 7-under 206.
Feb 16 - 5:08 PM

Josh Teater tapped in for birdie on his final hole to secure a career-best tie for second with his 35-34=69 at the Farmers Insurance Open.

He played the final round with a tidy four birdies and one bogey, finishing the week alongside Brandt Snedeker at 10-under 278. Teater did an excellent job of limiting mistakes, squaring seven birdies for the week and only five on the difficult South Course at Torrey Pines. He now heads to Arizona for the Waste Management Phoenix Open.

Jan 28 - 5:34 PM

Josh Teater chased his opening 66 at the Farmers Insurance Open with a 2-under-par 35-35=70 at Torrey Pines North in his second round.

Given the relative ease of the North Course, any score not starting with a "6" is disappointing, but he created a buffer with a dandy of a number on Thursday. After bogeys at 11 and 12 today -- his second and third holes of the round -- he responded with four birdies to post 8-under 136 and sits three strokes back of the 36-hole clubhouse lead.
Jan 25 - 6:53 PM

Josh Teater submitted a 6-under-par 35-31=66 for his opening round of the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines South.

Teater hit 14 greens in regulation, buried seven birdies and suffered only one par, but it's how he converted that serves as his story today. He opened with a par save from 23'4" at the first hole. After hitting it out of play off tee and taking a penalty at the par-5 sixth, he'd jar a 38-yard pitch from the rough for another par. Still even on the round and after swallowing his lone bogey at 7, he closed with all seven of his birdies, five of which disappearing from beyond 11 feet. The set including respective rolls of 22'9" and 28'7" at the ninth and 15th holes. He signed his card as one of many one stroke off the clubhouse lead.
Jan 24 - 5:54 PM

Josh Teater put the finishing touches on a solid weekend at the Sony Open with a 5-under-par 33-32=65 in the final round.

Teater played his final 36 holes in 10-under, with 11 birdies and a lone bogey. With seven top 25s in 2012, he will be satisfied to get his 2013 campaign under way with looks to be his first top 25 of the new year at 12-under 268. His ball-striking kept him moving up the leaderboard this week, averaging 72.22 percent GIR for the tournament at Waialae Country Club.
Jan 13 - 7:31 PM

Josh Teater wrapped up his third consecutive year on the PGA TOUR in 2012, equalling or surpassing 30 starts in each of those seasons.

Teater's seven top 25s in 2012 matches his 2011 tally, but he doubled his top 10s from two to four. At 17th in ball-striking, his success from week-to-week depends on the mood of his flat stick. He's put together top 10s at the Reno-Tahoe Open in each of the last two seasons, so consider him a strong option there in 2013.

Josh Teater tapped in for par on the 18th hole in the final round of the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Classic to finish the day at 1-under-par 36-35=71, and tied for fifth at 12-under 276.

Perhaps there were two players more nervous that Teater as he played the 18th hole. A par or better for Teater meant the 125th spot on the money list, and final fully-exempt PGA TOUR card, would go to Kevin Chappell. A bogey or worse would add some money to Jerry Kelly's pocket, moving him up from 126th and into the 125th spot at Chappell's expense. All is not lost for Kelly, as he owns two different one-time career money exemptions by virtue of ranking inside the top 25 in career earnings. He can choose to skip Q School and burn one of those, or give Q School a shot and see if he can save one of those exemptions for later. Either way, Disney provided the dramatic ending that we have grown to expect.

Josh Teater spun a 5-under-par 35-32=67 in the third round of the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Classic, improving to 11-under 205.

Teater has had his way with the Magnolia Course, playing the host venue in 10-under. He needed just 24 putts in his Saturday stroll, making up for only finding 11 GIR. His birdies came in bunches, with three falling in a four-hole stretch from the second to the fifth, and another four coming in succession beginning with the 11th. He is one of the few players in the field with little on the line in terms of the money list, as he is already in good shape to retain a PGA TOUR card by virtue of a top 125 spot on the money list.

Josh Teater fired a 4-under-par 32-35=67 in the third round of the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, and shares 10th with Ken Duke at 11-under 202 entering the finale.

Teater managed to go his first 16 holes without a blemish before finally settling for a bogey on the par-3 17th. It's surprising that his lone bogey came at a par 3, since he found just six (of 14) fairways. Still, he gained 3.471 strokes with the putter, and ranks third for the week in the Strokes Gained category. He will attempt to nab his fourth top 10 of 2012 in the final round.
