Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports that Royce Ring has signed with the independent league Long Island Ducks.
Ring hasn't appeared in a major league game since the 2010 season but pitched well in limited duty last year in the minors with the Rockies. Obviously, the 32-year-old isn't close to putting on a big league uniform again. Fri, May 24, 2013 04:00:00 PM

Red Sox signed LHP Royce Ring to a minor league contract.

Ring suffered the loss in his first appearance with Triple-A Pawtucket on Monday night. The 30-year-old southpaw exercised the opt-out clause in his contract with the Mariners earlier this month after posting a 6.08 ERA and 33/11 K/BB ratio over 27 appearances with Triple-A Tacoma.

Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that the Yankees are looking for left-handed relief help, but are not interested in LHP Royce Ring.

Ring was cut two days ago by the Mariners organization after posting 33 strikeouts over 23 2/3 innings with Triple-A Tacoma. He had a cup off coffee with the Yanks in 2010, but will need to find another organization to sign with if he wants another shot at the big leagues.

Mariners released LHP Royce Ring.

Ring, who signed a minor league deal with the Mariners in December, had an ugly 6.08 ERA over 27 appearances with Triple-A Tacoma. On the bright side, the 30-year-old southpaw had 33 strikeouts over 23 2/3 innings and was holding left-handed batters to a .218 batting average. He'll pop up in another organization before long.

Yankees signed LHP Royce Ring to a minor league contract.

Ring somehow convinced the Cardinals to hand him a major league contract last offseason. He didn't last through spring training and spent the year posting a 3.04 ERA and 1.24 WHIP in 47 1/3 innings of relief at Triple-A Memphis. It's doubtful he sees much time with the Yankees in 2010.

Ring, the surprise recepient of a major league contract in the offseason, was doomed from the moment the Cards signed Dennys Reyes, not that he helped himself by giving up seven earned runs in 5 2/3 innings. He'll accept the assignment and pitch out of the pen for Memphis.
