According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Bobby Bradley is pursuing legal action against the Pirates for the cost of surgery on his pitching hand.

Bradley, who was Pittsburgh's first-round pick in 1999, was released by the team July 1. The disagreement stems from whether or not Bradley was injured at the time of the release.

Pirates released RHP Bobby Bradley.

Bradley has had massive control problems this year, but that's a first for him and he's still pretty talented. Maybe he'll turn it around elsewhere. It's surprising that the Pirates just released him whether than try to get him through waivers.

Bobby Bradley will have more tests run on him by orthopedist James Andrews.

He has major control problems but the Pirates have been unable to find anything physically wrong with him. If Andrews clears Bradley, he will likely start a rehab assignment, although it's unlikely that he will pitch for Triple-A Indianapolis again this year.

Bobby Bradley had tests on his neck and chest yesterday.

He can't ''feel the ball coming out of his hand,'' which is not good in any case, especially when you're a pitcher. The 1999 number-one pick has been bothered by neck and chest problems for over a year and doesn't appear close to making the bigs anytime soon.

Triple-A Indianapolis' Bobby Bradley pitched 1 1/3 hitless innings yesterday in his second appearance since being shifted from the rotation to the pen.

Massive control issues resulted in Bradley's demotion, but he's walked only one batter in 2 1/3 scoreless innings in his two relief appearances. If he continues to throw strikes, the Pirates figure to move him back into the rotation.

Bobby Bradley walked seven batters and gave up eight runs -- three earned -- in 2 2/3 innings for Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday.

Bradley started to lose command in the spring and his problems have only gotten worse since the start of the season. Maybe he's hurting again.

Pirates agreed to terms with RHP Bobby Bradley, RHP Jeff Miller, C Ryan Doumit, OF Nate McLouth and OF Chris Duffy on one-year contracts.

Everyone here is due to open the season in the minors. With John Van Benschoten down, Bradley chances of getting a look in the rotation at some point have increased, but he's not going to be a candidate to make the team out of spring training. McLouth or Duffy could enter the outfield picture in August or September.

Bobby Bradley yielded two hits and struck out seven in five scoreless innings during Saturday's AFL action.

Bradley didn't bounce all the way back in 2004, but he did show enough at Double-A Altoona to keep his 40-man roster spot. He's due to spend next year in Triple-A.

Bobby Bradley pitched six no-hit innings but still allowed a run for Double-A Altoona yesterday.

Bradley walked four and hit a batter. The former first-round pick has thrown pretty well while healthy this year, posting a 2.88 ERA in 11 starts. Still, his frequent injuries make it unlikely that he'll ever fulfill his potential.

Bobby Bradley, who hasn't pitched since May 14 because of a strained muscle in his upper chest, is scheduled to return to Double-A Altoona's active roster Wednesday.

He'll face New Hampshire in his first game back. Bradley was a first-round pick in 1999 but still needs a lot of work.

RHP Bobby Bradley (sore right shoulder) will make the first of two rehab starts Saturday at rookie-league Bradenton before rejoining Double-A Altoona's rotation.

The 1999 first-rounder has a long way to go to reach the majors.

1999 first-rounder Bobby Bradley, who has missed two starts for Double-A Altoona with a tight pectoral muscle, was in Pittsburgh yesterday to be checked by the team medical staff.

''It's not a major problem, I don't think,'' said Bradley. ''I'm sick of coming to Pittsburgh and talking about my injuries.'' Bradley is 1-0 with a 3.72 ERA for Altoona, but his 1.53 WHIP and 18/16 k/bb show that he won't be ready for the majors anytime soon.

Double-A Altoona's Bobby Bradley was scratched from his scheduled start Wednesday with a strained muscle in his upper chest.

Bradley is expected to be ready to pitch this weekend.
Wed, May 19, 2004 11:04:00 PM

Bobby Bradley pitched six shutout innings and struck out eight for Double-A Altoona on Friday.

Bradley, seemingly healthy after missing much of the last three seasons, is 2-1 with a 3.28 ERA, 33 H and 28/18 K/BB in 35 2/3 IP for Altoona. He's not likely to reach the majors before September, but he's still viewed as one of the Pirates' top prospects.
