Garrett Jones went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts against the Rays on Thursday.
Jones is hitting .175 with no homers and 10 strikeouts through 40 at-bats. If the Yankees wanted to carry their 25 best players coming out of camp, they'd probably consider keeping Rob Refsnyder over Jones, giving them a platoon partner for Stephen Drew at second base. There's not much chance of them going that route, though, and they still might need Jones when Mark Teixeira, Chase Headley or Alex Rodriguez gets hurt. Mar 26 - 5:06 PM

Garrett Jones was scratched from Tuesday's Grapefruit League lineup due to illness.

He should be good to go in the next day or so. Jones was acquired from the Marlins this offseason along with Nathan Eovaldi and should get part-time at-bats between the DH spot, first base, and corner outfield spots this season.

Facing his former team, Garrett Jones went 2-for-2 with an RBI double and a walk as the Yankees edged the Pirates 2-1 on Thursday.

Jones could well end up with 300 at-bats for the Yankees this year, but he'll be at the mercy of injuries for playing time initially. Fortunately for him, as old as the Yankees lineup is, DL stints figure to be pretty common.

Yankees acquired 1B/OF Garrett Jones from the Marlins in the Nathan Eovaldi trade.

Jones hit .246/.309/.411 with 15 homers last season as the Marlins' main first baseman. He's been pretty good versus right-handed pitching in his career (.811 OPS) and offers a bit of versatility with the ability to play first base and the corner outfield spots.

Joe Frisaro of reports that Garrett Jones is generating trade interest.

The Marlins are getting calls on the heels of a reported agreement with free agent Michael Morse. Jones could stick around as a left-handed backup first baseman and outfielder, but Frisaro hears that he'll most likely be dealt. The 33-year-old is set to earn $5 million in 2015.

Garrett Jones had a solo homer and an RBI double versus the Brewers on Monday.

Jones took a seat in favor of Justin Bour against a right-hander on Friday and then didn't play against the lefty on Saturday, but he's 3-for-6 with three extra-base hits the last two days. That should be good enough to keep him in the lineup for the rest of the series against the Brewers, with Milwaukee throwing four straight right-handers.

Garrett Jones tripled, doubled and scored twice against the Nationals on Monday.

Jones seems to have come out of his slump, as he's now hit in six straight. Yesterday's hit was a homer, ending a drought that extended back to June 24.

Garrett Jones went 2-for-5 with a go-ahead two-run single in the 10th to lead the Marlins to a 3-1 win over the Braves on Monday.

His first big hit in a while. In fact, Jones had driven in a total of six runs in a month, all of them coming in Marlins losses. The 10th got started tonight when Christian Yelich delivered a leadoff single off Shae Simmons. He was advanced on a sac bunt, at which point the Braves intentionally walked Giancarlo Stanton. Casey McGehee then worked a walk of his own, bringing up Jones. The Braves declined to counter with new lefty Chasen Shreve, and Jones delivered against Simmons.

Garrett Jones went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's loss to the Phillies.

Jones homered in the eighth inning against B.J. Rosenberg to bring the Marlins within three, but by then, it was too little, too late. It was Jones' 10th homer of the season, and he has 34 RBI with a .257/.324/.441 slash line on the season. The 32-year-old has been a good find for the Marlins.

Garrett Jones hit a game-winning three-run home run as the Marlins came from behind to edge the Cubs 6-5 on Tuesday.

With two runners on and the Marlins trailing 4-3 in the seventh inning, Jones connected on a Brian Schlitter pitch for his ninth home run of the season. It was Jones' only hit in four at-bats on the night. Serving as the Marlins' primary first baseman this season, the 32-year-old is batting .267/.331/.453 with 32 RBI.

While Jones' four hits represented two-thirds of the Marlins' total on the night, the club drew a total of eight walks. Jones knocked in a go-ahead run with a third-inning double, and brought his team within one run with a ninth-inning double. The first baseman has been a welcome contributor to the Marlins, as he is now slashing .273/.339/.472.

Garrett Jones struck out all four times he was up and committed his fourth error at first base in Friday's loss.

Jones sure has cooled off in a hurry; since a three-double game on May 2 raised his average to .282, he's gone 2-24 with no RBI in six games. We doubt he'll prove to be a reliable mixed-league option this season.

Garrett Jones tied a Marlins team record with three doubles, leading the Marlins to a 6-3 victory over the Dodgers in Miami on Friday.

Jones finished the night 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. He’s off to a strong start to the season, slashing .282/.333/.476 with five homers and 15 RBI, and is worth consideration as a corner infield option in mixed leagues.

Garrett Jones went 2-for-4 with a solo homer against the Mets on Friday.

Jones put the Marlins ahead with a home run off the right field foul pole in the top of the eighth inning, but Steve Cishek blew the game in the ninth. The 32-year-old is striking out at a ridiculous pace, but he has homered four times in his last 10 games.
