Scott went 0-for-4 in his season debut on Tuesday and then fared much better in his follow-up. He took Royals starter Luis Mendoza deep in the fourth inning and singled in his other two at-bats. There are better options in mixed leagues, but Scott should be owned in most AL-only formats going forward.

Scott has been out all year due to a strained calf. He's currently being listed as day-to-day. While the injury doesn't appear to be serious, it could impact his ability to return to the Rays' lineup on Tuesday as was originally planned.

Scott went through a range of drills on Sunday and told reporters afterward that he felt "ready to take the next step" in his rehabilitation from a right calf strain. He hasn't played in live games since March, so the Rays may ask him to spend over a week on the farm. The 34-year-old designated hitter should join Tampa Bay's starting lineup by the end of April.

Scott was supposed to the run the bases Friday, but the cold weather in Boston scrapped that idea. He then was slated to run them Sunday but showed up sick at the ballpark. The DH is hoping to begin a rehab assignment this week and should be ready to return before the end of the month.
