Royals signed RHP Brian Sanches to a minor league contract.

Sanches made six appearances with the Phillies this season and finished the year with the Astros' Triple-A team. He'll likely struggle to win a roster spot during spring training.

Phillies released RHP Brian Sanches.

Sanches had a 9.95 ERA in six appearances with the Phillies in May before being outrighted to the minors. His numbers with Triple-A Lehigh Valley were pretty good, so it probably won't take him long to find a new home.

Phillies sent RHP Brian Sanches outright to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

This marks the second time this year that the Phillies have outrighted Sanches to the minors. The 33-year-old right-hander has allowed seven runs on 12 hits and three walks over 6 1/3 innings at the big league level this season.

Phillies purchased the contract of RHP Brian Sanches from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Sanches will take the spot of Joe Savery, who was optioned to the minors on Wednesday night after allowing five runs in 2 2/3 innings against the Pirates. Sanches will serve as a middle reliever for the Phils.

Phillies purchased the contract of RHP Brian Sanches from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

He'll replace the injured David Herndon (elbow) on the active roster. Sanches, 33, had a 3.21 ERA and 12/2 K/BB ratio in 14 innings at the Triple-A level and owns a 3.58 ERA over parts of six seasons in the big leagues. Look for him in middle relief.

Phillies signed RHP Brian Sanches to a minor league contract.

The deal includes an invite to spring training. Sanches, 33, posted a 3.94 ERA and 53/36 K/BB ratio over 61 2/3 innings with the Marlins this season. He'll need to show better command to have any chance of cracking the Opening Day roster.

Marlins sent RHP Brian Sanches outright to Triple-A New Orleans.

Sanches, 33, posted a decent 3.94 ERA and 53/36 K/BB ratio in 61 2/3 innings this season for the Marlins.

Brian Sanches (elbow) is expected to pitch again in 2011.

The Marlins have yet to announce a timetable for his return, but are obviously not overly concerned about his strained pitching elbow. In 58 2/3 innings largely out of Florida's bullpen this season, Sanches has posted a 3.38 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 49/33 K/BB ratio.

Marlins placed RHP Brian Sanches on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 10, with a right elbow strain.

The severity of the injury is not yet known. Sanches, 33, has mostly pitched in a long relief role this season, posting a 3.38 ERA and 49/33 K/BB ratio over 58 2/3 innings.

Brian Sanches will start Wednesday against the Angels.

This will actually be his second start of the season. He previously allowed one run over three innings against the Dodgers back on May 28. Though he is accustomed to pitching multiple innings as a long reliever, he's likely to be on a pitch count. Don't expect much in fantasy leagues.

Brian Sanches yielded one run in three innings Saturday against the Dodgers in his spot start.

The Marlins had a bullpen day in Josh Johnson's rotation spot, and they decided to reward Sanches with his first career start after 166 relief appearances. He did a nice job, but he didn't hang around long enough to pick up the win. That went to Edward Mujica.
Sun, May 29, 2011 01:36:00 AM

Marlins manager Edwin Rodriguez is leaning towards going with a bullpen start Saturday rather than calling someone up.

Brian Sanches would likely get the ball first to kick off the parade of relievers against the Dodgers. The Marlins are hoping Josh Johnson will be able to return from the DL next Wednesday to assume the vacant spot in the rotation.
