White Sox signed INF Eric Patterson to a minor league contract.

Patterson began the 2013 season with the independent York Revolution and finished it with the Double-A affiliate of the Brewers. The 30-year-old hasn't appeared in a major league game since 2011 and will merely be organizational infield depth for the Pale Hose.

Brewers signed INF/OF Eric Patterson to a minor league contract.

Patterson had been playing with the York Revolution of the independent Atlantic League. He last played in the majors in 2011, when he batted just .180/.272/.292 over 47 games with the Padres. He's merely minor league depth.

Tigers released INF-OF Eric Patterson.

Patterson failed to make the Tigers' Opening Day roster out of spring training and was hitting .244/.365/.317 with two homers, 23 RBI, 13 stolen bases and a .681 OPS over 64 games with Triple-A Toledo. The 29-year-old shouldn't have much trouble finding a new home.

Tigers assigned OF Eric Patterson to minor league camp.

Patterson turned some heads earlier this month when he homered twice off Roy Halladay in the same spring game, but he never stood much of a chance at landing a spot on the Detroit bench. The utilityman will function as organizational depth this season for the Tigers.

Eric Patterson homered off Roy Halladay twice on his way to a 4-for-5 day against the Phillies.

Corey's younger brother has flashed some real hitting ability every once in a while, but he's finished with averages of .214 in 187 at-bats and .180 in 89 at-bats the last two years. He remains quite a long shot to win a spot on Detroit's bench.

Tigers signed INF-OF Eric Patterson to a minor league contract.

As Matt Eddy of Baseball America notes, this is his fifth organization in the past five years. Patterson, who turns 29 in April, was released by the Padres last month after batting just .180/.272/.292 with two home runs and eight RBI in 103 plate appearances. His speed is useful and he is capable of playing multiple positions, but he's coming off back-to-back terrible seasons.

Padres released INF-OF Eric Patterson.

Patterson batted just .180/.272/.292 with two home runs and eight RBI in 103 plate appearances this past year for the Padres. The 28-year-old is now a free agent.

Padres sent INF-OF Eric Patterson outright to Triple-A Tacoma.

Patterson was designated for assignment last week after batting just .180/.272/.292 across 103 plate appearances. He'll now function as organizational depth.

Padres designated INF-OF Eric Patterson for assignment.

Patterson, 28, batted .180/.272/.292 with just five extra-base hits in 103 plate appearances this season for the Padres. He's likely to pass through waivers and wind up back in the organization.

Eric Patterson went 2-for-5 and stole his seventh base Monday against the Braves.

If Patterson ever hits, his speed is going to give him some serious fantasy value. He's 34-for-38 stealing bases in 492 career at-bats. Unfortunately, he's batting just .189 so far this year, and since he's a lousy defensive second baseman, the Padres only want to give him so much time there with Orlando Hudson out.

Padres activated INF/OF Eric Patterson from the 15-day disabled list.

Patterson is over the hamstring injury that delayed his season debut. He'll serve as a backup at second base and all three outfield spot.

Eric Patterson (hamstring) is likely to be activated from the disabled list this weekend.

Patterson is running and fielding down at the Padres' spring training complex in Arizona. He will probably play one or two rehab games in the minors when the organization's affiliates open their seasons on Thursday.

Padres placed INF/OF Eric Patterson on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 22, with a strained left hamstring.

As expected. Patterson tore the cover off the ball this spring and will serve as a utility man as soon as he's eligible to come off the disabled list on April 6.

Eric Patterson (hamstring) will open the regular season on the 15-day disabled list.

Patterson is hoping to return to the major leagues on April 5 -- the first day that he would be eligible. He is still trying to get over a week-old hamstring strain.
