Marlins signed OF Chris Lubanski to a minor league contract.

Lubanski was drafted fifth overall by the Royals back in 2003 but he failed to make a good impression in his six years with the club. Now 25 and joining his third organization, his chances of sticking in the big leagues are dwindling.

Blue Jays signed OF Chris Lubanski to a minor league contract.

Lubanski was drafted fifth overall by the Royals back in 2003 but he failed to make a good impression on management in his six years with the club. Now 24 years of age, he'll have to work his way up to the big leagues via Triple-A Las Vegas. He hit .227/.313/.341 last year for Triple-A Omaha.

Royals reassigned OF Chris Lubanski, C J.R. House, RHP Yasuhiko Yabuta and RHP Oscar Villarreal to minor league camp.

Lubanski, who was again available in the Rule 5 draft over the winter, hit .321/.345/.607 in 28 at-bats to help his stock ever so slightly. He'll be a regular in Triple-A Omaha's outfield. House was foolish to sign with the Royals in November when they already had Brayan Pena as a No. 3 catcher/infielder with little chance of making the team. He may be in another organization by Opening Day. Yabuta was unable to put himself back into the mix for a bullpen spot while giving up six earned runs in 6 1/3 innings. Villarreal was injured and never had a shot.

Chris Lubanski went 3-for-6 with a homer and two walks Saturday in a doubleheader for Double-A Wichita.

We figured the Royals would move Lubanski up when they promoted either Shane Costa or Joey Gathright to the majors. Costa has been in Kansas City for more than a week now, but Lubanski is still stuck at Wichita, even after hitting .282/.369/.475 for the team last year. He's at .312/.397/.544 right now.

Double-A Wichita's Chris Lubanski tripled and doubled Monday to raise his average to .305.

Lubanski has to be pretty frustated at being asked to repeat the Texas League after hitting .282/.369/.475 for Wichita last year, but it hasn't showed in his performance, as he currently has a 912 OPS. He'll probably move up to Triple-A whenever the Royals move an outfielder and call up Joey Gathright or Shane Costa.

Chris Lubanski has only played three AFL games, as he's on Grand Canyon's Taxi Squad.

He is 2-for-7 in his limited action and appears targeted for Triple-A next season.

Double-A Wichita's Chris Lubanski went 4-for-6 with two homers and a double on Sunday.

Lubanski, 21, is batting .282/.368/.481 with 10 steals in 17 attempts. His performance has been especially strong since the start of July, but it's unlikely that the Royals will call him up when they have more experienced prospects to look at. At least it now appears that he'll get to move up to Triple-A to start next year.

Chris Lubanski tripled, doubled and drove in four runs Friday for Double-A Wichita.

Games like this have been few and far between for Lubanski over the past six weeks. He is currently batting .246/.321/.402 in 261 at-bats. Since he's only 21, a bad first year in Double-A wouldn't be the end for him as a prospect. However, the Royals could have done better with the fifth overall selection in the 2003 draft.

Chris Lubanski went 3-for-5 with a homer and a double Saturday for Double-A Wichita.

Lubanski has been one of the Texas League's hottest hitters of late and is currently hitting .304/.383/.491 in 112 at-bats. Most encouraging is his 23/14 K/BB ratio. He finished at 131/38 in 531 AB for Single-A High Desert last season.

Single-A High Desert's Chris Lubanski went 4-for-4 with two home runs, a double and seven RBI on Wednesday.

Lubanski is up to 112 RBI and it seems like half of them have come in the last week. He hit a grand slam off Lake Elsinore's Cesar Carrillo yesterday.

Single-A High Desert's Chris Lubanski homered, doubled twice and drove in three runs yesterday.

Lubanski reached 101 RBI with another big game. He's batting .293/.340/.533 in 118 games.

Chris Lubanski went 4-for-6 and hit his 21st and 22nd homers for Single-A High Desert yesterday.

Lubanski, 20, is batting .293/.337/.522 while playing in one of the best environments for hitters in the minors. Double-A should be a bigger test for the 2003 first-round pick.

Chris Lubanski homered twice in the second game of Single-A High Desert's doubleheader yesterday.

The 20-year-old Lubanski is hiting for a great deal of power this month and is up to 16 homers on the season. He probably wouldn't be doing so well if the Royals still had their high-A affiliate in the Carolina League.

2003 first-round pick Chris Lubanski hit his 10th and 11th home runs for Single-A High Desert yesterday.

Lubanski, 20, is batting .232/.276/.450 in one of the best places for hitters in the minors. He's probably not going to be ready for Double-A at the start of next year, but that doesn't necessarily mean the Royals will hold him back.
